It has to go to Nash. The Career Stats are Semi close. Kidd obviously has the edge there but Nash is a 2 time MVP.

i think alot of young people will say nash because they dont remeber kidd when he was younger and will base it on what hes doing now. the same way someone may say some pf whos older but playing well had a better career then kg. who ranks were in all time (among pg or guards) scoring rebounding ast steals triple doubles through out there career?

Nash wasn’t much of a defender and his stats were improved with the Run-n-Gun offense of the Suns!

All that’s missing on both resumes is a championship!

Kidd is a better all around player, but Nash had won 2 MVPs (almost 3 if not for Dirk to get that one).

However, Nash’s MVP season was a product of the run & gun system employed by D’Antoni which inflated his stats to MVP level. I think Kidd would be nearly as impressive if he was in Nash’s situation.

As much as I love Steve Nash (my 2nd favorite player), I would have to admit Jason Kidd is a better overall player. Both deserved to be in Hall of Flame though.

First of all, one of Nash’s MVP’s should be Kobe’s. Second of all, if you put Jason Kidd in his prime in the Suns offense, Kidd would have put up better numbers and also could have won an MVP. You look at both players during their prime, and Kidd hands Nash a beatdown.

who would you take with both of them in there prime?..easily kidd. i mean come on. nash is good/great ill give him that but kidd in his prime could do anything that nash could do and much more and better except the shooting part. add to that that he was bigger,stronger,better defender and i dont think its really close

Well for fans it will be Nash, because of his style of play and many people like him. For history, and greatest point guard ever it will be Jason Kidd, because of his better stats, and a more pure point guard. Nash is getting enough assists to be considered a pure point guard but at the beginning of his career he was just fast and able to score very easily. The passing ability I don’t think developed until he left Dallas. I am not quite sure on that though, don’t quote me on that. History likes pure point guards better then they do combo ones, even though the NBA is now starting to lean towards combo guards, history still tends to rate pure point guards better then they do combo guards.

In their 20s i say Kidd is better cause he came to league as a star…. nash wasnt a household name in his 20s….. but nash is 36 and he is stil top 3 pg in league and i think that is his truely value as he gets old he is better…. i agree, kidd is more versatile and better defensive player but nash is better shooter.. if i need to choose one player i pick nash cause there arent really a lot of veterans that can be real impact players

While both have had very good careers, I think its gotta go to Kidd and its not even really close. Jason Kidd has done it all. He scores, he rebounds, he gets everybody involved, and he defends. Did Kidd win the MVP when he went to New Jersey and instantly made that team a contender in the East? Cuz he definitly should have. The guy is a pure point guard in every sense of the word, and all young players looking to play point guard should try to mirror their games to Kidds.

I agree, Nash gets more hype because of the Run n gun style of Phoenix, but Jason Kidd is a rock. He plays far superior defense, he gets everybody involved in the offense, and he has always been a solid triple double threat.

He was on teams in the championship, and he played great defense and rebounded great. Nash does each worse. Nash had his stats inflated by the fast paced Sun’s offense. When Terry Porter was coach, he was no better statistically than he was in Dallas.

Jason Kidd never averaged less 7.5ast in a season his whole career and he had a handful of seasons were he flirted with a triple-double average

Yea he won MVPs but his first one wasnt a MVP caliber season to me…

I think Kidd is the better PG and I don’t think it’s as close as most are making it seem. I’m quite young, and I think that Kidd is better than Nash. Jason Kidd was an unbelievable PG. He was everything aPG should be, except he wasn’t more than mediocre as a shooter. He could do literally EVERYTHING at a ridiculously high level, except shoot. I maintain that he’s the best playmaking PG I’ve ever seen personally..

Nash was a system PG IMO…He was a guy that was an above average PG before he came to the Suns in Dallas. Some people even said he was more of a combo guard than a natural PG back then. He is just a great fit for the Suns system, which IMO is just a free-for-all that inflates stats. He’s not truly the elite player that Kidd is. I truly believe that if Kidd would’ve had Joe Johnson, Amare Stoudemire, Quentin Richardson (back in the day) and Boris Diaw, Jason Kidd would’ve brought home AT LEAST 1 title…Hell, he got to the Finals with Kenyon Martin and Richard Jefferson as his other impact players, both players are legit 3rd/4th options in the NBA. Two of those Suns guys I listed are guys that are now looking to get max deals in the free agent class that’s emerging. Hmmm…That’s food for thought.

Give me Kidd everytime…MVP’s or no MVP’s

it’s going to be nash … neither won a championship and nash won two MVP’s – back to back … that puts him in pretty exclusive company

you can say dantoni’s system is a major factor in nash’s production – but i can say jason kidd played what i think most would consider his prime years in new jersey when the east was at or close to it’s all time weakness

don’t spend too much time rationalizing it … nash was the perfect point guard for that system and he used his abilities to flourish in it … if you watched phoenix games during those seasons he completely dominated games with his passing as well as timely scoring, jason kidd was obviously the better defender … you could make an argument for either of them as a passer … and nash is clearly the better shooter, so when you ask in terms of how we’ll look back on them when it’s all said and done, i think those two mvp’s have to weight pretty heavily

Kidd he does it all defends passes scores when he needs to, the stat that stands out the most is rebounds 6.6 a game career for a true PG is phenomenal to me
