I’m a huge Knicks fan and have no idea what they are going to do with the pick. I’d love Russell if he fell to #4 and I love Winslow. Who should they take? Do you think they’ll keep it or trade it?

If they can get Rubio or Rondo… I would take WCS

Everyone keeps asking are they going to trade it. I’m not not seeing any reason to trade the pick to try and get a Vet or 2 who probably don’t want to be there, when you can take a young prospect with a lot of room to grown. They should take the BPA and call it a day. They blow it and they’re going to set themselves back.

He can drive, he can be a deadly cutter, he can defend.  Knicks could use a really good solid player and Winslow’s physicality would make him a mismatch at SG.  I think Winslow is an underrated prospect and shoudl go top-5.  His individual scoring may take some time to develop and he probably is only going to be an average jump shooter, but his defense, rebounding and ability to get to the rim are all super impressive.

This is assuming KAT, Okafor and Russell are taken in the top-3.

I am a huge Knicks fan, too.

I think it’s going to be either Mudiay or Winslow, and Mudiay may and should end up being the most logical pick for us.

Why?  Knicks need a PG who can penetrate and get to the rim, someone to compliment Jose Calderon (lets face it, he aint going no where).  Calderon lacks foot speed, and lacks the ability to penetrate makes it difficult for other guys to score.  However, Calderon is an excellent 3pt shooter, he should compliment well with Mudiay (inconsistent from the pereimeter at this early stage of his career).  Not to mention Mudiay has higher ceiling than almost everyone in this draft, do you really want to pass up on a talented / big PG like Mudiay?  Probably not.  I would and i think Knicks would gamble on this kid.

Why not Winslow?  While I like his game, winslow doesn’t make much sense for Knicks because Knicks already have multiple players who play SG / SF, Tim Haradway Jr, Galloway and Early. Winslow may be better than all of them, but is he worth the pick?  he’s undersized (only measured 6’4.5" off shoes, almost as tall as Mudiay), and he’s not a good ball handler and pereimeter shooter, makes him too small to play SF in pro, and too inconsistent to play SG in pro, but the worst problem for Knicks is that we have way too many wings play… simply not enough "play making" PG.

WCS is defintely not worth the pick, although he possesses the defensive abaility to make impact, his ceiling on the offensive end is too limited.  it’s not difficult to acquire a big via FA, given Knicks have almost $30m to spend in FA, i think they would just get a big via FA.

That’s my 2 cents, and i hope i am right because Knicks cannot afford to miss this time.  Thanks for reading.

This notion of the Knicks being in "serious trade discussions" is nothing more than a conspiracy concocted by the mainstream media to drum up page views/clicks/etc. (Which is why I only trust RT news, btw.) I’m sure the team is quite happy to sit tight, taking whichever of the "Big 4" lands in their laps.

Oh, and OP, this may seem like an odd question but … are you an actual living human being? Or, like, some "random spam generating robot"? The only reason I ask is, I seem to recall that all your previous posts were ads promoting that strange school.

I think Mudiay is the player they should take, but part of me thinks that they should take WCS and fix the defense for the next 10 years.

I don’t trust Hardaway to work well in our system. His defensive liabilities are concerning. He was one of the top 10 worst SGs in defense in NBA Real Plus Minus at -3.39. I dont mind if a player is average at defense but if you’re one of the worst I’m rather concerned. If Melo was willing to play PF again I would love for us to get Winslow at the SF.

Mudiay’s defense is questionable. But more importantly he doesn’t quite have range. Something that is highly required in the triangle offense. He could pan out and be excellent don’t get me wrong. I’m just very concerned that his style of play wouldn’t translate into the triangle offense. Thus having potential for his value to drop.

I think Russell is by far the best player in this draft for us, I’m doubtful he’ll drop to us, but his ability to be an immediate impact with his offensive versatility and his high potential could allow him to be a franchise player.

Mudiay has all the physical tools to be a very good defender.  I don’t trust Haradway Jr. either, but hes more of a bench player who provides instant spark for us.  The thing is, you need a big-time PG to run the team in today’s NBA.  if you watch enough NYK basketball last season (which was a pain), you would’ve seen that Fisher started running more and more pick n roll towards the end.  It doesn’t mean that he’s getting away from tri-angle, but you’ve gotta utilize your talent and adjust your system.  The best way to build a team is to draft the "best available player".  I am not sold on WSC, I think the guy may end up being the bust of this draft.  Winslow is good, but he’s a small SF,and doesnt shoot well enough to play SG.  Mudiay is the one.

He’ll make a good tendem with Calderon (shoots well, but cant defend or penetrate).  Remember, Calderson is still under contract for 2 more seasons.

Would Knicks fans trade the 4th pick for Marc Gasol?

I guess the Knicks would have to trade a contract, too, like Bargs, to make the money work…

As a Grizzlies fan, I am not sure if Marc wants to stay or leave.

If he wants to leave I would take the 4th pick and Bargs (plus other contracts for him) for Marc. I would even throw in the 25th pick.

I am not sure that Marc is worth the 4th pick, but he is a big “name” that would work in the Triangle. The Knicks also have Carmelo so Marc can be the 2nd option and focal point for other team’s defense instead of the primary offensive focal point. Marc was relatively struggling later in the year after defenses keyed in on him and busted up the Conley-Marc pick and roll plays.

If we trade Marc though, I think we should dismantle more too. I would throw in Mike Conley in the deal since he only has one year left on his deal anyway, keep the 25th pick and substitute a future second round pick, plus cash, and ask for additional assets like Jose Calderon, Tim Hardaway, Jr., Cleanthony Early, and a future 1st round pick.

We can keep Grit ‘n Grind mainstays Zach Randolph and Tony Allen, then retool around the 4th pick (Mudiay? Willie Cauley Stein?), Early, Tim Hardaway, Jr., Courtney Lee, Jordan Adams, Russ Smith, Jon Leuer, Jarnell Stokes, and the 25th pick. Jeff Green might opt out then which would save us $9 million. We could probably resign Kosta Koufos since he would be starting. Beno Udrih would remain as our 6th man/cult hero.

This might be the retooled Grizzlies then:

    PG Emmanuel Mudiay
    SG Courtney Lee
    SF Tony Allen
    PF Zach Randolph
    C Kosta Koufos

    Bench

    PG Jose Calderon/Beno Udrih
    SG Tim Hardaway, Jr./Jordan Adams
    PF Bargs/Jon Leuer/Jarnell Stokes
    C Dakari Johnson? (25th pick)

The first team would have less outside shooting but more size in the backcourt and perhaps more toughness. Then you have some solid defenders to pair with Z Bo. That bench looks pretty dynamic. We won’t win 56 games with this squad but I think we could still contend for a playoff spot. THEN, you look at us, and we should STILL give the Golden State Warriors fits.

Our bench looks like it has more shooting with Dakari being a guy who can potentially score inside.

Could be a long, tough minded team with plenty of size still left inside to go with rebounding and some scoring punch.

The new look Knicks with a trio of Carmelo Anthony, Marc Gasol, and Mike Conley would then have 3 high level players at 3 very important positions. Shane Larkin and Langston Galloway provide guard depth then they can fill out the rest of the roster with solid role players.

I don’t think the Knicks can get 3 better guys for the Triangle than Carmelo Anthony, Marc, and Mike. As a bonus, Marc and Mike are solid, smart, tough defenders.

The Knicks should then look at acquiring some of those late second round picks for the 76ers to fill in some holes.

I am huge on Emmanuel Mudiay! The biggest downfall for the Knicks franchise is that they shy away from the athletic PGs. The Knicks base everything around perimeter shooting or dominant big men. Mudiay is a bigger Kyrie Irving.

    http://www.nbadraft.net/forum/back-drawing-board-emmanuel-mudiay

"He’s really close to Kyrie in skill, especially as a "sneaky" athlete to jump and dunk. People sleep on Kyrie’s athleticism because he’s all finesse around the rim but he has tricks."

with mudiays fresh recent workouts with the lakers…its a damn good chance the knicks dont have him as an option anyway.

right now mudiay or kat at 1 and the other at 2 …outside chance russell or hezonja go 2nd

okafor still in play at 1 more than at 2 and 3 really, and so it is looking in my estimation that kat, mudiay and russell will all be off the bd leaving the likes of okafor, porzingas, hezonja and others not worthy of the 4th unless you want to overvalue wcs or winslow.

There is another darkhorse at 4 no matter who is on the bd still (unless kat is which he never will be) …and that man is frank kaminsky

phil doesnt give a f what anyone thinks… if kaminsky can fit into his triangle… its actually more of a possibility than you realize. However I think it would be too high a gamble as well…if carmelo is going to continue to do his bs…might as well take okafor if he falls.

After watching the effects of Gobert on the Jazz after they traded Kanter I think they should take WCS and build around his defensive abilities.

it’s so easy, knicks should and i think will just pick the remaining top 4 whose still left on the board…. KAT / Oak / Ruseel and Mudiay.

Also, WSC is a 21-22 year old rookie, an old rookie.  Meaning what you see is what you get… the guy didnt even average more than 10ppg in college (yes, i know he only played 24 mins / game), so it’s pretty safe to assume that he would probably average 7-10 ppg in pro at best.  Not worth the 4th pick, Mudiay is our guy.  book it.
