kerrstParticipantJimmy Butler and Gorgui Dieng to the LAC, Tyus Jones and Pat Beverly to PHX, Avery Bradley, Tobias Harris, Dragan Bender and Troy Daniels to MIN.
LAC sign Butler to an extension and land the star they are looking for without giving up picks or recently drafted guards, also gets a nice backup C in Dieng. PHX gets 2 PG’s to see who pairs best with Booker, MIN gets Vets that can help win now in a stretch 4 like Harris to pair with KAT, Bradley to provide shooting and D on the wing, so more shooting on the wing in Daniels and take a flier on a young guy who hasn’t reached his potential in Bender who could be their future stretch 4 or backup stretch 5.
Only caveat is that Bradley can’t be traded until January so he may have to be replaced in the deal or MINNY waits till the new year to traded Jimmy.

Dr.RedParticipantOnly way I do it is if Thibs is sent out too. Otherwise, this looks like a trade to appease Thibs and keeps Minny in that middling range – maybe good enough to compete for the 8th seed while not likely to get a good draft pick, but not good enough to compete for a ring. Pointless. Butler needs to be gone by Monday, taking Thibs’ and Layden’s sorry asses with him. Then, Glen Taylor needs to sell the team. Only solution I see that is fitting.

The GoatParticipantI can’t see why Phoenix would bother being involved, and the Clips likely get Jimmy for free if they wait. No deal.
The only deal I see happening is one where a team wants to make an offer to go on run with Jimmy on a rental –
Raps: Lowry for Butler
Rockets: Gordon and Chriss and 1st
Griz: Jackson Jnr and Parsons (not happening)
Bucks: Bledsoe, Maker, 1st
Wiz: Oubre, Morris, 1st
Pelicans: something around Mirotic
Sixers: something around Fultz0 - Posted on: Sat, 09/22/2018 - 12:25am #1124667

Andv1 WaitingParticipantThere has been 2-4 reports put out there:
1)Thibs won’t trade Butler.
2)They want to put Dieng in any deal with Butler.
3)The owner has told other owners Butler is available talk to me….
4)Butler will only re-up with Clippers,Nets or Knicks longterm.
So lets translate this lol
1-This is so Butler doesn’t crater his value completely and other teams will talk to them. As lets be real teams will low ball the F**k out of them due to this list and saying fear of not resiging..
2) They want cap room if they do have to/are forced to move him….Semi reset.
3) The owner if he has done this has also cratered Butlers value by saying talk to me I will get it done..Which means lets make managements job even harder..While getting cents to the dollar # dumba**
4) This means teams will low ball them or hold out until they get as much as possible from these 3 teams..
Personally I would rank the possible trade options as Clippers(could give you/get you the most),Nets and then Knicks
Personally I would talk to every team except Chicago(probably don’t want him back) or OKC(just re-upped P.G) the other 27 teams may give him a look..GSW maybe not also but could if they think Klay or Green are gone..
Teams I would personally call first: Philly,Orlando,Bucks,Dallas,Washington and Detroit . If all of these are washes then I go only to Clippers to do DOC a solid…
Philly I would go for Robert C one of Futlz/Saric and J.J reddick. You get 3 and D in Robert C you get a solid prospect in one of Saric or Futlz and you get floor spacing in J.J…Is it a low deal yes but at least its multiple young pieces and needs..
Orlando- Gordon and Evan F. Orlando finally gets its main player in Butler and the T-wolves get multiple needs that are on cheaper deals than Butler this move also moves Taj to the bench..
Dallas-Barnes and a pick straight trade for Butler…Barnes is the kind of player that maybe would mould well with Towns and Wiggins and is able to play Stretch 4-through to SG so give you flexibility..He is also old enought that THibs may trust him/Butler may reup due to D.J this also gives Dirk a good send off.
Washington: Morris and Porter for Butler and Dieng… You move Dieng and get two needs in Porter and Morris…Wiz get their big 3 they have been searching for..
Detroit-Blake for Butler straight trade.. Blake could give Kat his best running mate in the F.C he has ever had..Blake also seems to have that personality and vet traite that Thibs would like but maybe not grind his team mates gears as much as Butler..Plus he is locked up longterm only issue is injury history….
Finally the Clips the only of the 3 options that would give you what you need: A expiring deal in Tobias H but fills a need either stretch 4 or starting SF could reup at cheaper than Butler, a pick and Avery B for Butler and Dieng…This move either sends Taj to bench or Tobias and you round out starting lineup with Bradley at SG and Wiggins at SF now instead

HitsterParticipantThe interesting thing is if Glen Taylor gets directly involved and effectively over rules Thibs. What are the league rules on who signs off a trade ? – Thibs is the President of Basketball Operations so does he report to the owner of the Franchise CEO?
If Glen Taylor or his CEO effectively overruled Thibs and traded Butler then Thibs would likely consider his position and could have a claim for constructive dismissal.
If we know what Butler’s choices are about prefered teams then maybe Taylor is hoping a team like say the Lakers might look to dive in or if one of the "chosen 3" try to make a move knowing they have a chance to retain him.
Of his 3 choices – I could see possibly the Clippers making a move – Thibs worked with Doc Rivers at Boston so might be just more aminable to do a deal with him and Clippers have a lot of good role players who could be Thib type guys if a trade was done.
Sean Marks has done a good job with the Nets FO and having his pick back next year would surely not trade that. He has some decent young guys but would they help T-Wolves I wonder.
The Knicks with Porz out would likely want to get minutes into their younger guys and then make big moves next summer when they have some cap space and might feel out of the 3 destinations Butler says he likes they are the biggest so have most to offer him. However Dolan has pushed trades through before like Melo and might think Butler is too good to pass up. Frank N would be a plater whose defensive abilities Thibs would like so a deal might be there. Kanter has an expiring deal and Noah has under $38 million over 2 years compred to Dieng’s $49 million over 3 years so a deal involving them could work if T-Wolves want to move Dieng too.

220ParticipantIf the Clippers hadn’t brought in Jerry West as an advisor, dealt Blake Griffin, and let DeAndre Jordan walk then I could imagine them making a run at Jimmy Butler. As it stands the Clippers are in a long term rebuild mode largely because West doesn’t believe anyone is beating the Warriors right now. I don’t see West allowing the Clippers to rush things with a short sighted trade that would likely put the Clippers back to where they were before dealing Blake Griffin.
I do wonder what Tom Thibodeau would/will do if Glen Taylor deals Jimmy Butler without his consent. It’s easy to imagine Thibs just leaving and deciding never to coach in the NBA again. I doubt the T-Wolves will be better if a Butler gets dealt unless Andrew Wiggins grows up a lot and puts more effort into both ends of the court.

RicoParticipantDieng would be a deal breaker for the Clippers. Their whole thing is they want to clear enough cap space for two max contracts. Taking on Dieng would cost them the chance at Kawhi.

HobbyOGParticipantI agree with you, should be a lot of No’s on this post. Clippers don’t want or need Dieng’s contract. Need to free up the money..

BeastMode716ParticipantIt looks like Butler wants to be the main man for his new team, get a Max deal & have the Freedom to take the shots he wants to take as often as he likes
So that leaves out teams that already have 1 or 2 Stars & are looking for a guy to be their 3rd option on a Deep playoff run — they just won’t have the $$$ b/c they already have 1 or 2 Max $$$ players on the Roster
So it would seem obvious that a team like the Orlando Magic or Brooklyn Nets or NY Knicks or teams in that mold —- Lottery teams in Rebuild mode…… But those are Teams looking to hit a Home Run in the Draft & land a potential Star they can build around on a Rookie deal – Jimmy Butler is almost 30 & he’s got a lot of Milage on him
Or if a team like the Knicks believed they have a chance to land Kyrie AND Butler in Free Agency this summer Or if a team like the Clippers believe they have a chance to land Kawhi Leonard AND Jimmy Butler next summer then WHY would you give up valuable resources THIS summer for a guy you can sign for Free NEXT summer?!?!?!?

SmooveKRYPTParticipantClippers say no. They’re giving up 3 quality players and taking back the worst contract.
