marcusfizer21ParticipantNBA Player: Derrick Rose
College Player: Harrison Barnes
D-League Player: Used to be Jawad Williams but he’s an NBA player now… I’m going with Denham Brown of the Iowa Energy…
International Player: Marcus Fizer? hehehe… Trajan Langdon of CSKA Moscow is byfar the most impressive IMO.
NBA team: As always and forever will be, the Chicago Bulls
College Team: North Carolina Tar Heels along with Xavier Musketeers
International Team: Team USA LOL
High School Player: I really like Michael Gilchrist… He’s the most impressive in my eyes…
0 - Posted on: Mon, 10/11/2010 - 9:31pm #411256

Mr. 19134ParticipantWhat does most impressive mean? Honestly in Europe what does it mean because all Langdon does is hit 3’s and by my account thats all everybody in Europe does so please explain this most impressive thing to me……No I’m busting your spaldings I love the Alaskin Assassin.
And whatever happened to Marcus Fizer? I use to be a huge fan that dude use to just bully people in the lane. I thought he was the 2nd coming of Larry Johnson…
0 - Posted on: Mon, 10/11/2010 - 9:52pm #411258

marcusfizer21ParticipantI used to admire Trajan Langdon way back when he was a Dukie… I thought he’d do well in the NBA, had high expectations from the guy and he was a baller.. I touted him as the next Allan Houston because of the way he played but he never panned out in the NBA… When he left the league to try his luck overseas, he really played well… I just think his game felt comfortable in Europe rather than in the NBA… I’m just happy for him to be one of the mkost feared guns in that CSKA Moscow squad… He impresses me in that he has become a leader on a Euro team and that he’s happier there than he’ll ever be in the NBA…
Fizer was a beast in Iowa St. But he never panned out in the NBA, though he did have impressive performances when he was a Bull… I just think that ACL injury in 2002-2003 season ruined his chances for a longer NBA career… Though he could still play at a solid level, he was never the Fizer of college when he transferred to other teams like Milwaukee and New Orleans… I thought he’d be the new version of a Charles Barkley… The dude could rebound at 6’8… He is indeed a bully if he panned out… He’s playing in Puerto Rico now…
0 - Posted on: Mon, 10/11/2010 - 10:22pm #411259

Mr. 19134ParticipantYeah Langdon’s game was a beautiful thing to watchin in college. JJ Reddick for obvious reasons is what at the very least I thought Langdon could do in the NBA. But he is a star in Europe and has no need to come over to the NBA where his lack of defense will just be exposed.
I loved Lynn Greer in college and couldn’t understand how the one of the nations most prolific scorers couldn’t find a spot in the league. Greer is who introduced me to the euroleague because i remember seeing on insidehoops.com that he was MVP in some league over there and when I clicked on the links to explore more I found a whole bunch of college stars who never panned out having success over there. Needless to say I was so happy for Lynn and what he was able to do over in Europe winning the MVP and putting Temple in the mind of Euro fans wondering where he came from.
And I thought Fizer was a beast on the Bulls too when he got the chance to play. Injuries suck tho because he was quite a specimen. He was so strong and quick with the ball in his hands and really thrived with contact. He was like a wrecking ball in the lane as defenders just use to go flopping backwards trying to stop him. I remember after a slighlty disapointing rookie year he came back strong in his 2nd year. Then the injuries hit.
But didn’t he win MVP in the D League in one of the first few seasons of the league once? And the last I heard from him I thought he was another guy having success over in the ACB league in Europe.
I hate to love looking back and thinking what could of become had it not been for injuries. I think Fizer could of went on to average 17 and 8 in this league.

mikeyvthedonParticipantYou picked it up homes :). You have connections to Oregon or live there? I am a University of Oregon alumnus, but I am actually originally from and live in Toronto. I have family in Oregon, where my mother is from originally. So I was visiting Oregon my whole life, and finally went to school in Eugene for four years and than lived in Portland for three as my family bought a house near my other family there. I call Oregon home, and I definitely rep players from there, really like Terrence Jones game, want him to succeed, even though he did not choose U of O. Oh, and for favorite HS player, it goes to Jabari Brown, though I also really like Andre Drummond as I am an eternal fan of the possibly dominant big (Greg Oden is still one of my favorite players and my favorite Blazers by far. Yes, I am delusional at times). But, I still call Oregon home, even though I have only officially lived there for 7 of my 26 years of life. I always considered myself American, even though I was growing up in Canada and was a dual citizen. I have never been to Crater Lake, though I hear and see it is beautiful and would love to go.
To jsmoove, I am also a big DerMarr Johnson fan. When I was in 9th grade, I saw DerMarr and MCI play in a tournament, saw his first game and the finals against Hargrave Military. Hargrave had David West among others, and MCI had Caron Butler, who you could kind of tell was close to as good as DerMarr at the time, even with DerMarr winning tournament MVP and being considered the #1 prospect in his class. I always had high hopes for him, he was such a smooth player and I believed had great potential as a 2/3 combo, but before and after his unfortunate accident, he never seemed to live up to the hype. He was always someone I had hoped would get a nice role on a contending team I liked, but he never seemed to stick around. But his team at MCI was stacked, I know they had a bunch of players that did pretty well on the D1 level. I also have always been a fan of Keith Langford from Kansas who plays internationally, and I always think it is cool when some of the former guys I watched in college ball do well internationally. I do not follow it as closely as domestic basketball, but I try to have a little knowledge of what is going on.

marcusfizer21Participanthahaha… I appreciate the Fizer love man… He’s one of those guys that I hope to have better careers but sadly, his ended up on a sad note… Fizer played for Maccabi Tel Aviv and he was a very solid player for them… His numbers weren’t All-Star like in Europe but he has shown very nice passing and rebounding skills while at Maccabi… (11 ppg and 7 rpg) was his stats before he got booted out after sustaining another injury…
0 - Posted on: Tue, 10/12/2010 - 1:50pm #411372

SmooveKRYPTParticipantyeah I loved DerMarr’s game. I was a huge T-mac fan at the time he was coming up, and his game mirrored McGrady’s so much…he was so smooth and explosive on the offensive end and he had that same long/lean body type that is so hard to defend. I thought he’d be great early on, but after the accident I hoped he’d at least be able to get back and be a solid role player for a someone but it never panned out.
Kevin Durant said earlier during summer that he worked out with him and DerMarr was still ultra athletic and his jumpshot was better than KD’s. That was great to hear, and I hope he’s able to work his way back into the league soon.
