TyroberParticipantWho is the worst team in the league for the 2010-2011 season? I am trying to figure it out but many teams at the bottom have the potential to be better this year. In my honest opinion I think it is going to be the wolves. They give away arguably their best player for peanuts. I think its definitely possible they finish worse than last year and they were 14-57.

paint intruderParticipantMaybe the Cavs, since they’re without LeBron, Ilgauskas and Shaq. And Jamison will probably get traded.

WizardofOzParticipantI think the Raptors will be the worst team. The Raptors played no defense last season. According to John Hollinger of ESPN, the Raptors were the only team to give up an average of more than 110 points per 100 possessions. That’s terrible.
And Now that Bosh and Turkoglu are gone, the Raps will rely on Jose Calderon, DeMar DeRozan, Leandro Barbosa, and Andrea Bargnani as their main scoring threats. That lineup isn’t inspiring at all. The Raptors have some young talent, but they will not be good next year.

torontoraptors10ParticipantI agree with you completely! Our starting line-up looks so weak. Oh well, Harrison Barnes here we come!

OrangeBallParticipantthe raptors may be weak defensively but atleast the have some offensive punch to there line-up and players that can create for themselves unlike the wolves.

ChrischiParticipantRaptors and Minnesota. If some guys from the Nets get injured they might be in the mix aswell.

NYK2010ParticipantTwolves becaz the West is still better top to bottom and moving Al Jeff was an awful move.
Raptors are definately the worst in the East.
Pistons are right behind them esp. if their young guys don’t produce and becaz of their lack of legit bigs.0 - Posted on: Tue, 07/20/2010 - 7:55am #358184

llperezi say wolves.

topscoutParticipantTwolves will 4eva be the worst team as long as they have that gm
0 - Posted on: Tue, 07/20/2010 - 8:09am #358193

TyroberParticipantI think the raptors will be an awful team, but not the worst in the league. That lineup can score. I do not think they will make the playoffs but they wont be last in the regular season simply because they can score some points. They wont play any defense, which means they will lose more than they win, but i dont see them finishing last.

jjmass22ParticipantI say the raptors, but not by much, I say the wolves youth comes up with a few more wins, and look for the pistons to be right at the bottom, probably will make some moves to dump salary

dipt1982ParticipantMinnesota and Toronto definitely lead the pack, but New jersey sure didn’t do much this off-season either, so it will be a race to the worst record between the three of them IMO…
0 - Posted on: Tue, 07/20/2010 - 8:18am #358199

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantGolden State was one of the worst teams in the league, and did nothing to make themselves better. Udoh probably would not have helped them anyway, but he is out for six months. Dorell Wright and David Lee will be the new names to get fat numbers in that system. Lee got fat in New York, but this is the next level of bad basketball. He will probably be the best bet to beat Howard for the league’s rebounding leader. As for Wright, Maggette put up 20 per. Wright is playing that role, and will probably be good for 16 or 17 per. I this is can come off as pretty bold given that he has never averaged 8 per game, but it is the Warriors. If you want a fantasy sleeper, there you go. If you want the favorite to land the #1 pick, I’d be looking at the team where Dorell Wright could very well average 17 per game.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 07/20/2010 - 8:19am #358200

llperezi think new jersey will be fine. They had a lot more talent then the 12 wins would show. Harris was injured and inconsistent when he played. HIm healthy will help a lot. Add in depth with outlaw, petro, favors, farmar, morrow and an improved twill and i think they win about 30 games next year.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 07/20/2010 - 8:20am #358203

SpencerIsHawesome2ParticipantI think it comes down to: Minny, Philly, Detroit, New Jersey, or as many said Toronto.
My choice will be Minny because someone has to get the wins when Philly/Detroit/NJ/Toronto all play eachother.
I don’t think they are absolutely the worst team, but being in the Western Conference will give them the worst record.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 07/20/2010 - 8:21am #358207

llperezphilly shouldnt be that bad. I think they make the playoffs next year.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 07/20/2010 - 8:26am #358211
blackflash234ParticipantWow, Dorrell Wright averaging 17 points a night? Isn’t that a little far fetched. What makes you think he’ll average that much next year even in Golden State?
0 - Posted on: Tue, 07/20/2010 - 8:34am #358216

dipt1982ParticipantDorell Wright in not Corey maggette, LMAO…seriously, I know Maggette is no superstar, but he is a very solid NBA player, Wright has proven nothing in his career thus far…

BasketBalAllanParticipantLook out Rock Bottom because here comes Minny!
0 - Posted on: Tue, 07/20/2010 - 8:38am #358222

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantIt is the Warriors system in a year where they won’t be anywhere close to competitive. It is a bad team and the numbers don’t matter. They are going to score a ton, and the guys who get minutes will get fat numbers. Wright is likely to be their starting small forward, and if he gets 30+ minutes for that team he’ll get 17 per game.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 07/20/2010 - 8:39am #358223

Toronto16ParticipantUnfortunatley it will be the Raptors. Or the T-wolves.
But having a young core of DeRozan, Weems, Davis, Johnson and Harrsion Barnes or Perry Jones or Kyle Irving will be absolutely ridiculous.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 07/20/2010 - 8:49am #358232

NashyMingParticipantI have mentioned a few times that the Raptors team will not make the playoff and many people disagreed with me.
The Raptors is full of role players and a “weak” coach in Triano. There is no way this team would make the playoff without some crazy disasters on other teams.
With that said, if the Raptors can play with some decent chemistry, I think they won’t be the worst team in the league. They got no D, but they do have some offensive talent, and in general play a team game on offense. Playing as a team is more critical for the success of a team than a bunch of individual talent that can’t play together (e.g. Pistons last year). Not that I am saying the Raptors will be better than the Pistons, but Pistons would have to really get the team to play together. It was a disaster last year for the Pistons with everyone looking for their own shots.

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantI think Golden State will surprise some people and contend for a 8th seed.
Minnesota has to be the worst team in the NBA. I think they don’t have a number one option, they have multiple issues on the team.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 07/20/2010 - 8:58am #358247

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantToronto is going to be viewed as being a bad team by the masses for the same reason people dismissed Milwaukee before last year. The Raptors are going to be heavily reliant on international players, and the mainstream media here is largely dismissive of international players in leading roles until they go deep in the playoffs. Toronto is going to be better than they were last year. The pieces are going to fit better. Linas Kleiza is going to have a big scoring year. Barbosa is who he is, and while that isn’t great, it is better than DeRozan, Weems, and Belinelli. Bargnani will be in a more featured role in the offense, and be better protected defensively because they are going to have their army of unskilled big men (Davis, Johnson, Evans, Dorsey, Jones, and Alabi) there to be his rebounding and defending partner. I don’t see why they can’t be in that awful muck that competes for the 8th seed in the East.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 07/20/2010 - 9:01am #358253

NashyMingParticipant76ers should be better as Doug Collins (although I don’t think he’s that good) always improved his team in his first year of joining, so he can certainly help the 76ers win over 30 games.
Pistons haven’t really made any significant moves, and as long as the team still doesn’t gel, they wouldn’t change much, but they probably won’t get worse with the number of decent players on the team.
Nets added some decent role players and with a good coach in Avery Johnson, they should be able to get at least 30 wins.
TWolves would probably be the worst. They have a roster full of young players but only Beasley and Love can be considered potential stars. Rambis is lacking experiences as a head coach and triangle-offense isn’t that easy to pick up for most NBA players. Quite some coaches tried to use triangle but failed. Beasley’s mental issue and immaturity can create chemistry issue on a young team with no veteran leader. Love is probably the only guy that the TWolves can depend on.

dipt1982ParticipantDorell Wright is just not good, and with Curry, Ellis and Lee, he will NOT score 17 ppg, that’s just ridiculous
0 - Posted on: Tue, 07/20/2010 - 9:13am #358269

dmo21ParticipantI don’t think the raptors will be the worst team in the league or in the east. I see the raptors being like the rockets last year. Everyone expects them to be bad because they lost their star player (yao and bosh), but i think they will surprise people just like Houston did last year. They have many players that can step up and take bigger roles like Bargnani(will score a lot!), Derozan, and Weems. Also, this is a whole different Raptor team than last year, so you can’t say they will be horrible at defense. At the end of last year they found a defensive system that worked better(was still bad) and with the loss of Hedo and Bosh, their defense will get better with a more athletic wing starting and probably a low post big man who will block shots. I see both their offense and defense improving from last year, but not their record..

NashyMingParticipantIt’s hard to imagine Kings is included as one of the worst 5 teams.
Kings improved the front court a lot by adding Samuel Dalembert, DeMarcus Cousins, Hassan Whiteside. Also Landry was good since he was traded. The Kings front court is much deeper and much stronger than before. They have solid young wings in Casspi and Greene who will certainly improve for the coming season. Evans averaged 20-5-5 last year as a rookie and he may even make the all-star game next year. I think the Kings may make a run to the playoff and fall short (mainly because the West is so deep). If the Kings is in the East, it will likely make the playoff.
Wizards would do better than last year. John Wall has the talent to turn around this franchise quickly. You just have to see how Derrick Rose turned the Bulls into a playoff team to see the possibility in Wall helping the Wizards to get close to the playoff. Arenas is also back from suspension and if the Wizards play their cards nicely and let Arenas rebuild his reputation, Arenas can play at a star level or being traded for decent assets during the season. The front court of Yi, McGee, and Blatche is not that great yet, but they have the potential.
Warriors can be pretty bad. As it is sold to new owner, it is possible that if the warriors do not start the season well, they would trade away all the assets and fasten their rebuilding process. Don Nelson may be axed real soon and they may not be willing to invest into a decent coach for the rest of the season. Their only building block is Stephen Curry. The rest of the roster can be put on fire sale by December.
0- Posted on: Tue, 07/20/2010 - 11:08am #358386

WizardofOzParticipantYou can’t really compare Derrick Rose and the Chicago Bulls in his 1st season to John Wall and the Washington Wizards because in Derrick Rose’s first season, the Chicago Bulls had a better supporting cast. Even before the Chicago Bulls got Derrick Rose, they weren’t that bad. They had the 9th best chance to win the #1 pick that year, and those aren’t high odds. They weren’t terrible and had some pieces even without Derrick Rose.
The Wizards have some talent around John Wall, but that talent might not lead to the playoffs. The year before the Bulls got Derrick Rose, they were 33 – 49. The year before the Wizards got John Wall, they were 26 – 56. That shows that the Bulls had more talent without Derrick Rose than the Wizards without John Wall. I predict that the Wizards will win 25-32 games next season. They might sneak into the playoffs and surprise me, but I don’t know.
Not winning a lot of games next might benefit the Wizards because they are in full rebuild mode and they would get a high draft pick and surrounding he team wit more young talent will help speed up the rebuilding process.

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipant“Dorell Wright is just not good, and with Curry, Ellis and Lee, he will NOT score 17 ppg, that’s just ridiculous”
The Warriors are going to score 106-111 points per game. Since Nelson took control, they have been 106, 111, 108, and 109 per game. They were always putting 85-87 shots per game. It doesn’t matter if they are good or not, and they won’t be any good, they are going to score. They will give up more than they give up, but they’ll score. Let’s say Curry, Ellis, and Lee combine to score 70 points per game and 50 shots per game. I can’t remember the last time three players combined to score 70 per game, but let’s say they do it. There is still going to be another 35-40 points to be had. There are still going to be 35 shots. Who else is going to get it? You are looking at Dorell Wright, Charlie Bell, Reggie Williams, Brandan Wright, Vladimir Radmanovic, Andris Biedrins, and Dan Gadzuric to fill out a seven-to-nine man rotation. Those centers aren’t scoring. Radmanovic and Wright might end up playing minutes there for the first half of the year, and if Udoh gets healthy he might get some time there in the second half of the year. Regardless, those guys aren’t scoring much. That leaves Dorell Wright, Reggie Williams, and Charlie Bell. I don’t think Bell is going to see the floor unless Ellis or Curry get hurt, so what is to say Wright and Williams aren’t combining to chuck up 20 shots a game?

0 - Posted on: Tue, 07/20/2010 - 11:26am #358400

NashyMingParticipantWizardofOz, you have completely ignored the fact that Gibert Arenas was suspended for most of the season. If Arenas can get his focus on basketball, he can return to all-star form.
Arenas and Wall can certainly help the Wizards win 30+ games.
Also, the Wizards can also trade Arenas to another team for better return if Arenas returns to form and the Wizards still want to trade him away (just so that Wall can official take over).
They were able to win 26 games last year without Arenas (although with Butler and Jamison, but they weren’t playing well).
0 - Posted on: Tue, 07/20/2010 - 11:32am #358404

NashyMingParticipantI think the biggest addition for the Nets is actually Avery Johnson. He would be a significant upgrade over the “don’t want to coach” Kiki V.
The new additions are also a collection of much better role players compare to the last year group.
Major contributors last year for the Nets:
Lopez, Harris, Yi, TWill, Lee, CDRThe new Nets would include:
Lopez, Harris, TWill (improved), Outlaw, Favors, Morrow, Farmar, Damion JamesWith Avery Johnson as the coach and an improved TWill, I think the Nets can win 30 games.
