Who is the most proven point guard in this draft? What guy has proven he is a point guard ready to lead a team right now? Who is going to start as a rookie?

say it has to be Darren Collison because he’s been running the show at UCLA for quite some time and he has had plenty of success leading the Bruins. He could be a Mario Chalmers type rookie who comes in and starts for a team that really needs a PG. I just don’t know who that can be.

There are no sure things as far as who might do well in the NBA. Every single pg has some question marks. I think Rubio will be the best. Tyreke Evans and Jrue Holiday have some of the best potential to be all-stars. Curry at very worst is a knock down shooter, so he is a safe pick. Flynn looks ready to contribute right away, but I don’t know about his long term potential. Lawson and Collison should be able to help teams right away, but I see them both as back-up’s long term. I’m not very high on Jennings or Maynor. Teague could prove to be a steal.

I just don’t know if he starts. Lawson could end up a starter right away because he already knows how to facilitate with top level talent on his squad. He knows how to get everybody their shot. I still don’t think he is the best pg in this draft though.

The most proven point guard is Ricky Rubio, He played professionally since age 14 and held his own there and against the American point guards in the Olympics. Same goes to Patty Mills for Austarila in the Olympics. The PGs ready to lead a team are Rubio, Evans, Curry, Flynn, or Lawson. The only sure starter is Curry but each of the first round point guards will start as soon as their respcetive teams begin to lose.

He asked a question. I answer. I lose two points. He agrees with me. Amazing. haha. Well I was saying he is the most proven, but if you expect someone to lead I’d go with Flynn and Evans and both will start along with some of the others. Evans won in his one year and Flynn was amazing during his two years and led his team. Evans had to play with Memphis and once trasitioned to the Point he really began to shine and look like the Ball Player we all expected from Highschool. Flynn at times looked like the second coming of Iverson, but bulkier. He drove to the hoops, stopped and popped, and occassionally made a couple of great plays using passing. Those are the two rookie PG’s I think will be most successful during their 1st year.

up Rubio because alot of people will just dawg him and say how he played overseas and his stats and blah blah blah, but he actually is probably the most proven due to all his experience and winning while playing. He’s played against the best in the World and the best outside the NBA. He just won’t amaze people as fast as they like, but I expect him to begin doing some great things after the Break, but until then he’ll play good…not great.

Rubio, Collison, Lawson, Flynn, Maynor in that order are the most proven PG’s available. They are pure PG’s who can come in with a limited PG learning curve. Other guys like Jennings, Curry, Teague, etc. will need a little more time before they fully grasp the NBA PG position.

I don’t even see how this can be discussed; Ricky Rubio played in the Olympic gold medal game, and is definitely the only point guard in this draft that’d make Spain’s team(ability-wise, not their from-Spain-ness).

He is not a scoring point he is a point. Jennings game is suited for the NBA game as much if not more than Rubio’s. Rubio will need more adjusting. Bigger, faster, longer guys. I don’t know who will be better but Rubio has to adjust more.

this is easy to name 2 people over the rest, it gets slightly tougher to decide which player of the two gets the nod.

Tywon Lawson and Ricky Rubio are head and shoulders above the rest in PGs who have actually proven to win.

at his young age, Ricky Rubio has been a professional since he was 14, and has led a national team to the a silver medal despite playing injured. you can say all you want that Spain was loaded with talent, between the two Gasols, Rudy Fernandez and Sergio Rodriguez all on the roster but it was Rubio who was the glue of the team. he has proven himself to win on the national level, something other top foreign prospects haven’t. See Bargnani and Gallinari.

Tywon Lawson on the other hand has won at every level, coming from one of the nations top High Schools, Oak Hill Academy going to one of the nations premier basketball powerhouses in UNC, he’s played with high level talent all his life. played high school ball with Eric Devendorff, Kevin Durant, Nolan Smith and a few others, only to go to north carolina to play with Brandon Wright, Tyler Hansbrough, and Wayne Ellington.
