redford4threeParticipantwho does everyone think the greatest sleeper in the draft?
i would say its between Sam Young and Jodie Meeks maybe.
Both great players right now, Meeks can create shots at will.
And Sam Young is a mismatch with whoever is guarding him.
For Sam Young it may just be that he is playing against college players and that when he gets to the NBA he will have people his size that can run with him and bang with him.0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/18/2009 - 7:13am #141958
deuce4offyou dug pretty deep for those two huh?

cycloParticipantTyrese Rice is this years’ Mo Williams.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/18/2009 - 8:01am #141961
billykParticipantwesley mathews, if a defense oriented team like the spurs pick him up he could have a impact his rookie year he has improved every year in college and he is one of the best defensive players in the country (patty mills is the best pg in college baskeball)
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/18/2009 - 9:35am #141969
WildDudeParticipantMo Williams didn’t drop because he was a sleeper, he was only a sophmore and was considered a boom or bust player, Tyrese Rice wont make it, my sleeper is Courtney Fells- he knows how to score but due to the system they revolve their whole offense around one player… last year it was JJ Hickson now its Brandon Costner
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/18/2009 - 9:50am #141974
jorrye24Tyrese rice is like mo williams. Good call. my sleeper is patrick mills. He will be an above average point in the nba, maybe even go 2 a couple of allstar games with his freakish speed

DanEboyParticipantIf he get sdrafted at the end of the first round he is going to be a great addition to a playoff team. A better version of Luther Head. He guards the best opposing player every game and still puts up numbers across the board. He plays lock down defense, can create his own shot, and is an above average passer. I don’t think he has all-star talent at the NBA level but he will stick around the league for a long time and be a quality player because of everything he can do. There is no shame in being a 6th man in the NBA for your career and I think getting that at the end of the first or early second is a steal.

los507ParticipantThose are some good picks, but i like Jeff Adrein,W.Matthews, and L.Hudson. Lester Hudson could be a super sleeper but since he played in such a small conference it’s hard to get a good read on him but he has been very impressive. He has a good overall game that could adjust pretty good in the league.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 02/19/2009 - 5:22am #142017
joecheck88Participantmy sleeper is dominic james, and he may not get drafted. he looks strong and has good athletic ability. as long as he doesn’t have to be a starting pg he can be a good undersized scorer like nate robinson.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 02/19/2009 - 8:30am #142022
jorrye24Patrick mills is better than rubio 2 me.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 02/19/2009 - 10:58am #142025
redford4threeParticipantWesley Matthews is a good player and could potentially be a good NBA player.
Robert Vaden is a deadly three point shooter, and the likelyhood is that he will not be good but it is worth a very late 2nd rounder.
AJ Price is a very good shooter and he can handle the ball well so I am interested to see where he will go because I believe the biggest bust will be Eric Maynor, and AJ Price is better than Maynor.
McNeal is a good player and that Luther Head comparison is pretty dead on, except he will be better than Head.
Terence Williams is a given because he can rebound, handle, streaking shooter, and pass. He is very questionable at jumpshots and he needs to be a better decision maker if he wants to be a good NBA player.
I believe that Dante Cunningham is the most overlooked (besides Sam Young) player in college. He takes high percentage shots and he can handle the ball well for his size. He can shoot pretty well, and he has the talent to be a good role player. If Willie Warren comes out he could be a good point guard and Jerome Jordan could be good.
All I know is this year is going to have many sleepers.0 - Posted on: Thu, 02/19/2009 - 12:05pm #142032

eprizzle14ParticipantPatty Mills is the sleeper. Or if that ones not big enough for you how about Heytvelt, this guy has a solid stroke and good touch around the rim. He always being ragged n for dissapearing in games and being too perimeter oriented but I think he could be solid down low as well as bring his man out similar to Brad Miller, plus he got caught with shrooms PHSYCADELLIC.. Or if those guys dont tickle youre elmo how about Micah Downs?
0- Posted on: Tue, 03/17/2009 - 9:57am #143489
Bruce LeeroyParticipantI do like Micah as a sleeper. 6’7″ w/7ft wing span. Plays 3-4 positions and has good hoops IQ. Could be a Kirilenko or Yi type player.

MachettiParticipantI don’t mind Jorrye24 saying what he said about Mills being better than Rubio yeah right, but he is trying to make it interesting and I’m not going to rip him if he does think Patty is better. I think AJ Price could be a sleeper, highly touted high school player shaky couple of years in storrs, but I think he has the mental toughness that could make him a clutch player in the league. Not saying he’ll be a stud at the next level, but I think could be productive and can give you a little bit of everything. I also think Kyle McAlarany could be a good 3 point specialist.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 02/19/2009 - 2:51pm #142048
NYKnicksuperFanParticipantMy biggest sleeper of the draft is James Johnson, this year he’s been overshadowed by Teague and Aminu but hes a talented player. Another guy whos overshadowed is Danny Green hes the 4th or 5th player on UNC but hes gonna be the best pro out of all those tar heels. I also like Brackins from ISU, Dionte Christmas who can flat out score plus hes got a great name and Lester Hudson he’s from a tiny school but he’d be a great late second round pick
0 - Posted on: Thu, 02/19/2009 - 11:14pm #142130
cycloParticipantJerel McNeal.
Has NBA written all over him.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 02/20/2009 - 3:46am #142132
redford4threeParticipantMcNeal could be a solid role player for a team but a good defender will limit his looks from three point range.
TRINAJOE you are a complete idiot, why would any team in their right minds pick up Dominic James. He is 5’11” and even if he is left WIDE OPEN from three he still could not make 40% of them. He has awful decision making and his 28.3% from three is not going to cut it in the NBA especially since he has to shoot from either farther back with men in his face. He is athletic and he has become a better passer this year but still, there are always going to be better point guards than James. He has raised his field goal percentage from 39% last year to 43% this year. He can rebound nicely for a guy under 6 feet but you have to figure that any NBA player will be able to overpower him and get a rebound over him. So Trinajoe next time please think before writing because we know you must be a Marquette fan because nobody else think James is good.0 - Posted on: Fri, 02/20/2009 - 5:34am #142135
jorrye24I think trinajoe saying what he said about james is alright…james could be a nice little scorer of the bench playing either guard spot. He cant shoot it good though, so it may not work out but he can get to the rim and finish. He is real athletic like nate (but defintiely not on nates level) but he is strong and can take contact and finish OK at the rim so it could happen, maybe.

gberg23I’m big on Dionte Christmas. I think he could be a very good player in the NBA.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 02/20/2009 - 12:58pm #142152
redford4threeParticipantYeah I see what your saying about Dominic James getting to the rim but he really cannot finish. He cannot shoot and he can finish mediocrely at the rim.
If any NBA team drafts him or picks him up they better only be reserving a spot in the DLeague because a team does not want an undersized guard who cannot shoot for butt and cannot finish over a bigger stronger player than him
SO No team in the league will pick him up
he may be a sleeper in Europe though, so please keep me updated on that0 - Posted on: Sat, 02/21/2009 - 5:38am #142184
mannofnosmilesParticipantSam Young is this year’s Josh Howard. Young is an NBA-ready small forward that can come in and play immediately and contribute right away. He can be a vital role player to an already-playoffs team. Dude is and athlete that does it all on the court and he has experience!!!

LarryDaTruBirdmanParticipantHow bout Duke’s Gerald Henderson
0 - Posted on: Sat, 02/21/2009 - 9:54am #142201
redford4threeParticipantGerald Henderson will end up like the rest of the crappy duke players in the NBA. The only one who is considered to be good by some is Elton BraND who has been injured and before that sucked.
Plus he is not a sleeper ya idiot. Everybody knows about him and thinks he going to be good in the NBA. please next time you post Godand Gvernment, say something that doesn’t make our IQ’s drop.
Wesley Matthews is a real sleeper or Sam Young. People that are low picks that are going to be good, not overhyped players that go to Duke. Please Duke fans just need to stop talking about how good their players will be in the NBA. If I hear that freakin Singler or any of them are going to be good…0 - Posted on: Sat, 02/21/2009 - 11:34am #142205
redford4threeParticipantYes somebody who is projected for 13 is not a sleeper. He is ahead of people like Sam Young and Dejuan Blair, Steph Curry, Demar Derozan and many other great great oplayers. I do not see how you think he can be a sleaper. HE IS NOT. He may be an All Star but even if he is he is not a sleeper because he is not that poorly ranked and most people think he is going to be great.

diecity boyParticipantI think that Eric Maynor is one of the biggest sleepers in this years Draft. This guy faces double and triple teams on a nightly basis and still gets 23 plus and 6 assist per contest. He is easily one the best points in this years draft. When you get a chance take a look at him. Earl Clark as the most upside prolly in the draft. This kid has the size and quickness and plus he has a NBA type game. Watch out for him im telling you!
0- Posted on: Mon, 02/23/2009 - 10:44am #142247
joedoggy3000ParticipantEric Maynor and Jerel Mcneal
Mcneal reminds me of a smaller Wade…he can take it to the hoop and finish and can create his own shot..hes a combo guard but im sure he can be a consistent starter in the NBA
also Eric Maynor is completely overlooked since hes at VCU..hes going to be like a Granger situation from New Mexico..mid-first round…he can score, great defender,,,and his competitiveness is unbelievable
i also like Wesley Matthews

TOWWL BlogParticipantHe can shoot it and get to the hole. He’ll have to work on his strength and defense though.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/25/2009 - 4:03am #142320
redford4threeParticipantMaynor is projected to be 14th in the draft. To my understanding that is NO sleeper. If anything he is too highly ranked because Willie Warren is supposed to go after him and don’t tell me that you think Maynor is better than Warren. The problem with Earl Clark is he is too skinny but an NBA team will fix that. THe reason he is doing so well in college is because he is a mismatch player, 6′ 8” and a perimeter player, that is tough in college but it will be different when he gets to the bigs. Maynor will be a pretty good pro but Willie Warren will be better and should be picked before Maynor. Marcus Thornton could potentially be a sleeper but he is playing against horrible competition in the SEC, but I do think he iwll turn out to be a good player.

billykParticipantI like the Sam Young Josh Howard comparison. I think a real sleeper in this draft could be Lester Hudson even if he is 26 (what does age matter) he just need to be in the right situation
0 - Posted on: Tue, 03/17/2009 - 9:14pm #143527
cycloParticipantLorrenzo Wade 6’6″ 225 SG/SF San Diego State
This athletic sleeper has the talent and game to be a contributor in the NBA for years.
NBA comparison: Matt Barnes

dmi have seen Lester Hudson play live this season and he will be a pretty good NBA player. i think a true sleeper is Toney Douglas. he looks a little like Jameer Nelson and a liitle mix of Chauncey Billups. if he gets with the Lakers or the Suns in a few years teams will be kicking themselves for passing on him.
