ChrispyParticipantI must admit that, as nerdy about basketball as I am, I have not heard of this kid. He is a 6-9 sophomore from Cameroon and he is currently averaging 26 and 11, with 2 blocks. He was newcomer of the year in the WAC and 1st team all WAC. I just looked up his freshman highlight video and there are quite a few things to like about this kid. First, he is an elite athlete, featuring explosive leaping ability and an outstanding wingspan. His frame looks like there is plenty of room to fill out. He runs like a deer, too. Very nice touch around the hoop with both hands, which is encouraging. He has even attempted a few 3s all ready this year after in his first year. This suggests he is getting more comfortable with his range. Anyone seen actual full games of his (once again, I live in Guatemala so I am limited in what games I can watch)? Just curious to hear how his defense is within the context of a game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0BfrMMLfpvo

CoachK_251ParticipantPascal Siakam is actually very skilled. More of a four than a five and has really developed over the years. He redshirted his freshman season like most players in New Mexico State’s basketball program. Has a nice form on his jumper and doesn’t have to post deep to be effective. His turn around jumper looks good and he has added a fadeaway to his repertoire. Really athletic, plays above the rim and uses his athleticism on both ends of the floor contesting shots around the basket and rebounding. It is tough to keep him off the offensive glass and scores 6-10 pts a night from offensive rebs. I saw him get switched onto Dominic Artis off a ball screen against UTEP and he actually gave him more fits defensively than the pg defending him.Siakam also does a good job of passing out of the post, finding open teammates. He has a complete game than can easily transition to the NBA. He can start the break on a rebound allowing his teammates to get out and run lanes also.
