There isn’t one on this site yet. I’ve only seen highlights and the Hoop Summit, but I love his energy, body control, and aggressiveness. He’s got a spin move, he can handle it a little bit, and he plays really hard. Relentless on offensive glass. But no comparison comes to mind. Anyone?

Aran compared him to Kenneth Faried on his Hoop Summit recap.

I like Diallo’s game too. I like the Faried comp, but Faried isn’t a  good defender like Diallo.

He has a very raw offensive game but if he could tighten it up and maybe get a face-up game he could be something like serge ibaka.

Not an NBA player, at least not yet, but I think Vince Hunter is a good one. Obviously, Diallo is taller and longer than Hunter, but in terms of the way they play I think it is pretty similar.

I like the T. Thompson comp. Energy guy. Plays around the rim. Every time he was on espn this year he  and Ingram  were the two guys that stoodnout to me. They dont watch the action, they get into it.

I quite like the Faried comparison and Thompson is a fair one too. I don’t really know what K-Mart was like as an NCAA rookie so I cannot comment on that suggestion apart from Diallo seems to dunk a lot and K-Mart was always a dunk waiting to happen. One name that did spring to mind slightly was Taj Gibson but again Taj was a senior when drafted and he wasn’t on the radar as early as Cheick has been.

But if he could havev a fit K-Mart upside with Faried/Thompson/Gibson mid to downside he’d be a very good prospect.

Guy has great energy, already has a very good defensive game, hopefully he is developing a few offensive moves as a lot of his highlight reels seemed to be dominated by dunks. The guy does seem to understand the basics of the game well and does the simple things well and doesn’t try to do anything stupid.

This may not seem a great deal but it shows he understands his role and does what is expected of him, he doesn’t try to make rash plays or knucklehead type moves. He catches the rebound and moves the ball on to the PG and gets up the court, that is all that is expected of him.

The guy also sounds humble and well grounded on a couple of interviews I’ve seen him do, so with time playing under Coach Self at the Jayhawks he will certainly be a prospect to watch.

As his first name is pronounced check, you can imagine the Checkmate shouts when he blocks a shot.
