Ewing’s Revenge moves Charlotte down to the 2nd pick as former Knick teammate and coach of the Hornets rejoices over
    the top pick.

The Bobcats need a lot of help. Do they go with Andre Drummond, a big man but who has a skillset similar to Biyombo? Or T Rob a high energy big man who can play the 4? MKG should be good but he is not a great shooter. Harrison Barnes might be the shooter/scorer that they need but his ceiling may not be as high as some others. Perry Jones might be a good home run pick here, a 6’11 athlete who can give them scoring, dunking, and a big front line but I don’t know if the Bobcats will take him that high.

So who do you think they take at 2? Who SHOULD they take?

Andre Drummond- Big men dont come along often and Drummond has crazy potential. His offense and athleticism combined with Biyombo’s athleticism and defense will give the Bobcats a great 4/5 duo for the future

Harrison Barnes- Luol Deng type of 3 man with more range and a little more handle but less defense. Though playing at Carolina helps him out. Barnes/Walker will be a nice young duo who if reach their potential could be a legit threat to teams in the East in the next few years

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist- Intangibles cant be measured but he has them all. Leadership and Work Ethic are the primary 2 things to look for in a franchise player. If he works on his handle and becomes a more consistent jump shooter we’re talking Scottie Pippen potential.

    Historically- you go with Drummond

Safe Bet- you get Barnes who will be a 17-25ppg guy

Ultimately- you take that franchise leader, MKG will be the leader of this franchise for the next 10-12 years.

Id say Robinson as they need offense in the frontcourt, bismack cant score and will complement robinsons lack of defenseive ablities

Honestly, I’d trade down probably to number 5-7 and eventually get a decent player from another team or trade my number 2 for portland’s 2 picks. The talent level from selection number 2 to 10 is close. Anthony Davis is the only lock in the draft.

They have to take the risk on picking Andre Drummond or just maybe Perry Jones. This team really needs to try to hit a home run and not play it safe, and take a great athlete with a high ceiling.

I think you swing for the fences and take Drummond. Even if you are extremely bad again (which they will be), you can then pick top three next year. The ping pong balls are really their only hope.

I think they’ll ultimately go with Gilchrist. They need leadership and defense and to fill a talent gap at SF/SG. Corey Maggette can be a good mentor. Plus they seem high on their guards and bigs (walker, biyombo and Mullens)

you take MKG or barnes cuz he is a wing. CHA cant score. Taking Drummond is the wrong move cuz Biyombo  plays Center cuz he cant shoot.

I see MJ going with Barnes but TROB or Drummond would be the smarter pick. They can’t seriously hope to contend with a frontcourt of Mullens and Biyombo. I know they like both players but neither seems like they will ever make an All-Star game.

Historically you may go with Drummond but more often than not the big man with lots of potential turns out to never reach their potential, kwame brown? T Rob is by far the best option, he will give his heart to every game which is just what the bobcats need! His college numbers are outstanding, he is NBA ready and just what Kemba needs, an offensive inside man to feed.

How do Biyombo and Drummond fit together? I think I’d take MKG and be done with it. Build around Kemba, MKG, and Biyombo. You got a keeper on every level.

i totally agree with the mention of trading down and trying too get the 6 and 11 which imo the blazers would do the bobcats are so bad they need as many new bodies as possible and the difference in talent isnt that much different between 2 and 6 if the blazers would do this imo theyd take drummond hed be a great def rebouding c the blazers covet

I agree that they should go for the homerun and go for Andre Drummond, at worst you have two very good shot blocker with Biyombo and Drummond. Its always difficult to find great big man, and Drummond has potential to be great.

Thomas Robinson would be my 2nd choice if their not too convince with Drummond. Robinson compliments Biyombo pretty well. Either way I think the Bobcats should build their team from the inside since this draft has good depth in C/PF positions.

I’m not against the idea of trading down and selecting two players instead. Jordan is such a bad GM, with two picks he can pick the safe pick like usually does, take a chance with the other.

I’m not sold on Biyombo as a starter. He is a absolute black hole on offense.

The Bobcats picking Barnes. They need instant offense bad. Plus the Carolina connection is there. Barnes is probably the best scorer in the draft. Like somebody mentioned in a thread on this site, Barnes was a 3rd option on the Tarheels and still managed to average 17 points a game. We didn’t get to see his full arsenal at Carolina. He has a chance to be the man in Charlotte and I think he would embrace it.

I don’t get why everyone says that Barnes was at some kind of disadvantage at North Carolina.  We saw what happens when he didn’t play with an elite playmaker.  He struggled to create his own shot.  If he had gone to a lesser team that didn’t always get out in transition he wouldn’t have scored with the efficiency he did.  Maybe he would have been able to score 17 ppg on a lesser team, but certainly not with the same efficiency.  UNC was the ideal team for him to succeed on.

He wasn’t good enough to carry a team in college and he won’t be in the NBA.  That isn’t a bad thing, but people expecting him to be a big time iso threat right out of the gate in the NBA are sadly mistaken.  He had the luxury of playing in a wide open college offense that afforded him open looks and plenty of room to make his dribble moves, but NBA defenders will prevent him from getting the same looks in the future.

Drummond, at least try and hit a home run. Although he most likely busts.

I don’t know why all of the media is labeling this as a "snub" the odds are such that we could do this three more times and they’d only get the number 1 one of those times, that’s the way the odds work, but as for who they should take, you go with BPA, who I think is MKG, he goes hard on every play, plays D, and takes it to the rack. But I think MJ will take Drummond, but I hope he doesn’t. Drummond is a beast, a bright future ahead of him, but he will not get the time to develop that he needs in Charlotte. There will be too much pressure to play him, and he’s not ready to be thrown into the fire. I wouldn’t mind if they took Beal or T-Rob, but Beal would be a bit of a stretch.

I know people are saying pick Drummond he has heaps of potential. But seriously he can’t score and won’t score anytime soon, this draft is too good to risk a pick on Drummond, take a scoring player and benefit from it

Drummond isn’t what a team in Charlotte’s position needs. They can’t afford to risk a pick on Drummond, they need immediate impact scorers and established players. No fans are going go see a team of young inexperienced defenders floundering on the offensive end each night.

This is a really bad team. Bad on the wings and bad down low. But I’d say they are desperate on the wing. I think MKG is a worthy pick at #2. I don’t see Barnes as the second best player in this draft. No matter how you look at it, not getting Davis really hurts

I think Drummond is a horrible pick for Charlotte just cuz they have Biyombo playing center cuz he cant shoot to play PF. Combine that with Tyrus Thomas. The easiest way to be safe with a pick in the top 5 is to get a guy that can score cuz at least fans can actually say he can score. Projects on bad teams take too long for fans to see improvement

Im with everyone who said T-Rob and disagree with those who said Drummond to the Bobcats have been mentioned in a ton of posts already. another project big for charlote and MJ, we all know how well thats panned out for him. athletic, highly gifted physical specimen with low-motor issues and desire to dominate. if i was charlote, i’d be okay with someone else getting a home-run out of him with the chances that they strike out are the same.

id much rather have Robinson who is a safer pick that i know can help contribute now on the court and has the right mentality and maturity i would want in the locker room. a guy who can score decently for the team while still doing the hustle plays and bringing intangibles to the table. his defense and rebounding will be a welcomed addition right away. think kenyon martin for the nets is what im projecting him to be in his first few seasons in the league. or untill he develops a better offensive game.

i do feel that MKG is an equally as good a pick, but personally, i’d rather fix the team from the inside out when i have so many needs.

The Bobcats are a future project, so taking Drummond makes sense. It’s not like they can challenge next season. I would take Kidd-Gilchrist, but I’m going to guess the Bobcats take Harrison Barnes. No idea if he’s on their radar, but it sounds like an MJ move.

If the Bobcats select Drummond, they will expect him to beast and it will be just like Barnes in his freshman year at UNC. He will disappoint some. Heck, he might be a more of a disappointment than Barnes freshman year. I think the logic choice for the Bobcats is either Robinson/Barnes. It depends on who they want, do they want an awesome 4 to build with or a good 3 to build with. I think the 2006 draft will haunt them and they will take the more sure things, which is Robinson/Barnes. Though for some reason, the bobcats are real high on Mullens. So they might gve him another season or 2 before they give up on him, so its more likely Barnes than Robinson. If they select Robinson though, I understand. They need at least one big who can score consistently.

Definitely Barnes, there’s going to be a 2 year wait before another stud SF comes through (Wiggins, Parker), but there are PFs aplenty in the next class, and they might luck out and get Bazz or Noel. Barnes fits better with either of those players than Robinson, and as has been said, is a safe pick and can fit most play styles.

Harrison Barnes is the clear pick, Bobcats offensive oragnization was terrible this year only sparkplug was Kemba adding another raw bigman like Drummond or offensive liability like MKG wouldnt make sense
