surveParticipantMe and my college teammate were lottery picks the same year. He will be a 1st ballot HOFer when he is eligible for induction. We both played HS and College basketball in the same state. I also have a cousin who is an NBA Champion.

surveParticipantMy friend is a notorious thief. He and I are the same age. He has appeared in TV and Film. I guess you can consider me his college sidekick. We both started for our team in college at the same time, but we naturally play the same position. My wife is an actress of a long running sitcom. I am not very popular despite I have had a long NBA career. In fact…I have even recorded a triple double….but my friend has many more than I do.

surveParticipantI have been told I have very quick hands. I guess that would be true since I was a professional boxer. Oh yeah, I did play in the NBA for a while. I recorded a triple double with steals as part of my stat line. I didnt make the All Star team…but I was close. I played HS, college and NBA ball in my home state.

That should help you out. I played on a Western Conference team with two other guys that had the same last name as me! I am nicknamed after a popular historical district.

surveParticipantI was a Wizard. Incidentally, I am originally from D.C. I was probably best known as a King though. I could rain down threes. I am top 100 NBA all time in 3pt makes, attempts, and percentage. You can also call me the "Triple Double U" I am linked to a famous Lefty and a guy named Wade. My college coach and I have the same last name.

aamir543ParticipantLike the topic, but the ones you’re doing are a bit hard, lemme try one, There’s nothing to guess as it’s very obvious who I’ talking about but this is just for laughs.
I’m a young bigman who’s team has been consistantly good all season long, I’ve struggled to stay healthy and have been out for quite a while. Everyone thinks I’m gonna come back and our team will finally have a chance to get out of the second round but that’s ridiculous. We have an overated scorer that at times looks like Kobe and other times looks Jerry Stackhouse(not the one that scored 29 a game once apon a time, the one I have to practice with everyday), another big who’s also slightly undersized which doesn’t make my job any easier, but he has been a beast this year, our pont guard doesn’t create for anyone but at least he isn’t a decaying veteran that is a shell of his former self, we’re probably not going to be good enough to get to the conference-semis finals till like 2016, and never bad enough to get a franchise player, and there’s so much pressure on me to dominate and lift my team to a deep playoff run. How do you know I haven’t been in the DR eating pizza and chicken wings with David O? We’ll probably get embarassed by the Celtics. Crap.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 04/23/2012 - 3:23pm #663164

ItsVictorOladipoParticipantI was thinking Walt Williams. He’s from Washington DC, best years were with the Kings, could knock down threes and I was thinking the "triple double u" could’ve been a play on words if his middle name started with a W (initials WWW).
But I just looked it up and he never played with the Wizards, so I’m wrong.
Edit: I was right! He nickname was the Wizard, lol I almost forgot that.

surveParticipantyeah, I started off simple with Lamond Murray, but thought I would really challenge you guys. didnt want to make them too easy. you can figure them out if you follow the clues. If you need more clues on one, just ask.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 04/23/2012 - 3:29pm #663167
aamir543ParticipantFor the record, I do think that a healthy Horford added to this team would help their chances of a deep run, however just read that even though he will probably play in the playoffs, it will be in limited fashion, onnly 15 mintues per game.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 04/23/2012 - 3:31pm #663168

I never made the All Star team or All NBA, but my buddy did. I do have a distinguishable NBA award however and he doesnt. I played HS, College, and Pro ball in my hometown. My coach is known to fly off the handle sometimes. Once he threatened to kill another famous coach.

surveParticipantyes, Aaron McKie is correct. are these too easy or should I make them harder?
0 - Posted on: Tue, 04/24/2012 - 6:07am #663339
benny15ParticipantAaron McKckie is a former Sixer as well who was part of Iverson’s reign. the guy could shoot, defend and had a high enough basketball IQ to handle some point. the words veteran and professional was what suitted him the most during his playing years. if i remember correctly, he was playing 6th man in philly since he was really more of 2 guard for them who can share the same back-court as AI.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 04/24/2012 - 6:10am #663342

surveParticipantyes, that is the distinguishable award he won….6th Man of the Year

surveParticipantreally? you shouldve gotten the McKie one after I threw the clue out there about the coach threatening to kill the other coach. If you notice in the clip below, Eddie Jones (shirtless) and Aaron McKie (white-tee, gold chain) tried to restrain Chaney.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 04/25/2012 - 8:45am #663870

apb540ParticipantThese are very challenging. Haven’t guessed a single one right. Some are just simply a bit past my time but still hella interesting.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 04/25/2012 - 9:11am #663886

HaleParticipantMcKie was the only one I was close to guessing haha, but I still didn’t get it. I don’t know a whole lot about the NBA before like 2000.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 04/25/2012 - 9:44am #663901

surveParticipantyeah, I will try and do some that are in the 2000’s but I dont want them to be too easy. Earl Watson and Earl Boykins are current though. gonna do some real current ones and see if yall get em.

DuncanRulesParticipantI’m excited to get in on this fun, and hopefully I can provide an answer or two.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 04/25/2012 - 9:59am #663909

surveParticipantIn high school I played on the basketball team with a guy who became a McDonald’s All-American. I received very little interest from Division I schools to play basketball so I decided to take my talents to a DII school….to play football. I eventually found my way into a DI school that accepted me to play basketball….and I changed my commitment. I could see then that greater things were on the horizon. In the wake of the NCAA tourney, I had garnered much attention. I have essentially been traded three times already but the team I am currently went really likes me. I still wonder what it wouldve been like had I decided to stick with football. Maybe I wouldve been an NFL All-Pro like my cousin.

surveParticipantMy HS backcourt mate was a lottery pick in the NBA. In college, I had two backcourt mates who were drafted in the 1st round…..one in the lottery. One of my college backcourt mates is my NBA teammate currently. One of my NBA teammates and myself share a great rivalry. My dad was a pretty good college and NBA player. I am the childhood friend of one of the leagues most notorious knuckleheads. Lemme see….oh…..I had a pretty successful college career too and was All American and conference POY. I think that should be enough info for you.

- the McDonald’s All American – Daequan Cook
- Cole initially signed with Walsh University on a football scholarship before re-commiting to Cleveland State
- "take my talents" obvious reference to LBJ
- Horizon league
- Ousted Wake Forest in the tourney
- His rights were traded twice on draft night
- he is the cousin of the Trent Cole

Wahoo757ParticipantI was born and raised in Africa, and during my teen years moved to the United States. I played very well during high school, becoming a top 5 recruit. I received several offers from top level programs, and committed to play for a very prestigious school, but I decided do declare for the NBA. I had relatively high expectations as a 1st round pick, but was unable to deliver on those high hopes. I never started an NBA game, and was cut after my team was unable to send me down to the D-League due to league rules. I signed one more NBA contract but I was cut again before the regular season started, ending my NBA career.
Who am I?

0 - Posted on: Wed, 04/25/2012 - 10:44am #663941

Wahoo757ParticipantI just looked at the most recent post and didn’t see there was one unsolved. That player is Wayne Ellington.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 04/25/2012 - 10:51am #663949

surveParticipantu got me stumped on that one, I was thinking Mouhamed Sene or Desagna Diop…but Diop is still in the league.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 04/25/2012 - 10:52am #663945

surveParticipantyou are welcome to site the clues that lead you to believe that it is Wayne Ellington, but that answer is incorrect…..but damn good try!
his dad wasnt NBA player that I know of and his college backcourt mate (Ty Lawson) fell outside of the lottery.
also Ellington didnt win conference POY
0 - Posted on: Wed, 04/25/2012 - 11:12am #663960

Wahoo757ParticipantI didn’t think through that Wayne Ellington one..at all, I think there was some misreading on my part as well. This is how I (incorrectly came up with him though).
-HS backcourt mate was a lottery pick in the NBA-Gerald Henderson 12th pick in 2009 NBA draft, went to Ellington’s high school. I pretty much stopped here, not smart.
-I had two backcourt backcourt mates who were drafted in the 1st round-Ty Lawson, forgot Danny Green was a 2nd round pick.
-My dad was a pretty good college and NBA player-I was going back to Gerald Henderson for some reason on this one (his dad played in the NBA for 13 years).
-Childhood friend of one of league’s most notorious knuckleheads-complete misread, I was thinking teammates (could be Martell Webster, Michael Beasley)
-All-American and conference POY-I knew he was the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player in 2009, so I thought there was a decent chance he was the other two.
So there’s my incredibly flawed thinking, but after further review, I say it is…Mike Bibby?
0 - Posted on: Wed, 04/25/2012 - 11:14am #663963

Wahoo757ParticipantIt’s not either of those two players, trust me this dude is pretty obscure. Hint: He committed to a PAC-12 school before declaring. Another hint: early 2000s.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 04/25/2012 - 11:43am #663979

surveParticipantno, its not Mike Bibby either! I gotcha goin on this one! that was another good try though because Bibby’s dad was a great player. Jason Terry was a lottery pick basically at # 10. Bibby was conference POY and All America. and you could consider Baron Davis and Bibby being Pac-10 school rivals.
this guy and Bibby had a similar college career.
questions…
does Bibby currently play with a former college teammate?
who is the HS teammate that was a lottery pick?
who is the knuckleheaded friend that plays in the NBA currently?
close…but no cigar. may Buddah bless the one who gets this one right.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 04/25/2012 - 11:49am #663982

surveParticipantthat Bibby was a damn good guess….I wasnt even thinking about that. you know your chit….but looks like I got you on this one.
I will give you some more clues…
I was a 1st round draft pick and I am much younger than Mike Bibby. Who Am I?
0 - Posted on: Wed, 04/25/2012 - 11:59am #663988

Wahoo757ParticipantLast guess (not really if I’m wrong): I’m hoping that it’s…Nolan Smith? Much younger than Bibby, he’s a 1st rounder, I know he went to Oak Hill (teammates with Beasley I think), dad played for the NBA, and Nolan had a lot of college accolades. Yes?
0 - Posted on: Wed, 04/25/2012 - 12:00pm #663990

surveParticipantNolan Smith is correct!
0 - Posted on: Wed, 04/25/2012 - 12:13pm #663994

Wahoo757ParticipantAlright Surve now you have to get my impossible, who am I? I think he has enough of a unique story that someone might remember this guy. Although he was so mediocre in the NBA it would be understandable if nobody remembers him.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 04/25/2012 - 12:15pm #663995

surveParticipantNdudi Ebi is the African player, I had to do some research because I know nothing about him. so I couldve never guessed it.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 04/25/2012 - 12:19pm #663997

surveParticipantNolan Smith
- ACC POY
- First Team All-America
- Dad Derek Smith starred at Louisville and played in the NBA
- HS backcourt mate Brandon Jennings was lottery pick
- College backcourt mate Gerald Henderson was lottery pick
- College backcourt mate Elliott Williams was 1st rounder and also current teammate in Portland
- Shares rivalry with fellow Trailblazer Raymond Felton (UNC vs Duke)
- Boyhood friend Mike Beasley is the knucklehead
