NBA entertainment has done a fantastic job recently in terms of documentaries, notably "The Doctor" documentary on Julius Erving and The 30 for 30 Bad Boys doc on last week. I thought both of them were great and shed some light on often overlooked players / teams. My question is: Which team / player should have an NBA documentary about them next? I’d definitely be open to seeing a Kareem documentary because he was the best player at a HS, college and NBA level (lots of material there) and has never had a real in depth doc about him. In fact, a documentary about those Kareem UCLA teams would also be great. Other potential guys would be Walton, David Thompson (both great ‘what if’ guys), Arvydas Sabonis perhaps? Would love to hear any other suggestions.

Kareem would be great also for how much he fought for social and civil rights. A great man indeed. Also I would love a glimpse into Hakeems life as a devout muslim, yet global superstar. As well as Mahmoud Abdul Rauf. One of the most talented players ive ever seen and he was essentially blackballed from the league for his in-game protests of the American way. Those 3 are my favourite non-current players as well.

I think it would be interesting to see a documentary based on the expansion of the NBA to Canada. The introduction of the Raptors and Grizzlies as well as the Grizzlies relocation. Or even one about the history of basketball in Seattle and their desire to get a team back to the area.

Player wise, I would like to see a documentary on the Warrios Run TMC teams.

Greg Oden and Brandon Roy either combined or seperately I would definetly watch. Their careers had so much promise. Roy was my absolute favorite player and I empathize greatly that his career ended as quickly as it did.

Ooo that would be a good one on Oden and Roy. Aldrige, Roy, and Oden could’ve been a big three before it was cool. So much wasted potential.

     1. Coming into the NBA as a high schooler

    2. His ridiculous contract which was the primary example in restructuring the owners agreement with the players union.

    3. His struggle in finding a number 2 (Brandon, Marbury, Wally?)

    4. His HS days with Ronnie Fields

    5. His move to Boston and his first championship

    6. Two words: Trash Talk.

All great points, KG would be great to see. He had such an exuberant personality has a young player coming into this league. I consider him the second best PF of all time behind Duncan because of his defense, size, length, athleticism, leadership, and unselfishness. I just love the intesity he has played with throughout his career. One of my favorite players of all time.

The ‘KG: Anything is Possible’ (http://youtu.be/fEWWf_Al8Wc) documentary is a good choice for this, covers most of the points there and gives good interviews with his players / rivals on one of the best players of the decade. Only thing was it jumpet around a bit much, but apart from that it was good and well worth a watch.

I’m a bit biased, but holy hell a bio on David Kahn would be fascinating. I’m totally convinced he must have dirt/blackmail material on everybody, it’s the only possible way he was able to get work.

As for players, Darko would be fun. Pretty much only known for being picked ahead of Melo and Wade, and busting hardcore, and generally being a douchenozzle. Another player that’d be really interesting would be Muggsy Bogues. Seeing how a 5′ 3” guy was able to start for one of the league’s better teams at the time (Hornets) would be awesome to see

These are all great sugguestions. I like the Kareem idea because besides his social activism and great career he was also seen as a weird alienating guy. The ‘no respect’ aspect of Kareem would be interesting to see in a doc.

I would like to see a documentary made on the rise and career of Gregg Popovich. He got Tim Duncan and David Robinson on the same team, then transformed his squad into a highpaced offense in 2011.

I would love to see one about Oscar Robertson. I feel that from his high school team Crispus Attucks becoming the first all-black team to win a state title in our nation’s history, continuing on to his college years at Cincy, and detailing his storied NBA career, it would shed a lot of light on a player that most fans nowadays don’t really know much about.

A Run TMC doc was already made…  it was short, a half hour I think, but NBA TV did it.

Documentaries on Baron Davis, Vince Carter, T-Mac, and Steve Francis would all be awesome.  Last 3 are all somewhat connected, and worthy of individual documentaries.  Another player who defintely shaped the game and went through his ups and downs would be Stephon Marbury too.

Documentary on the Detriot Pistons team that upset the Lakers in 2004, and transformation of Chauncy Billups to clutch all-start talent.   That was one of the first examples of super team being constructed to win a title, and no one gave Detriot a chance initially.

Another I would watch would be just about the evolution of the NBA big man. You could compare players from each decade, what they did how they played, how the game play changed too. Could be neat

I think an inside look and to hear him speak on the issues he had, will give us a better perception on what really went down. I don’t think there really has been an in-depth documentary on a high profile guy, who received benefits and did not make it to the next level after playing at a prestigious D1 program.

I think Gerald Green’s story would make an interesting film.  Major hype coming out of high school, thinking he’s the best player in the world, then dropping in the draft and having a hard time getting any playing time in the NBA.  Then, having to go overseas to get work and finally end up maturing and appreciating the game, and coming back to the NBA as a solid player.
