BallerScriptParticipantWhich highly ranked/mocked freshman to you think will head back to school for another year or more?
My picks are Jaylen Brown, Isaiah Briscoe, Cheick Diallo, Allonzo Trier and Skal Labissiere.

Jdean24ParticipantI see no way brown returns as right now he’s a sure fire top 5 guy. And while I believe skal should return I’m not sure he does because next year that front court will only be more crowded. And if he doesn’t dominate his stock would only plummet further in year too. Daillo I agree will be back and him and Bragg for KU will be very good inside together. It’s truly hard too tell as a get run or slump in the tourney could be the deciding factor for some of these players…

Bankroll PJParticipantJaylen Brown is a kid that would’ve gone straight to the NBA from high school if it was allowed. No way he stays in college another year.

connybucketsParticipantSkal will leave because of Bam Adebayo, Gabriel, Killeya-Jones, and Wynyard are gonna be there, and Marcus Lee and Humphries are probably staying so not much playing time to go around. His game against Arkansas was a pleasant surprise so maybe he’ll start trending upwards in his play

Butter13ParticipantNo way Brown stays in school. He’s predicted to go top 4 right now, and if he stays another year, he could drop and end up going top 7-9 in the 2017 Draft due to it likely being a stronger draft.

Taylor Gang MikeParticipantYeah I want to see Fultz and Murray together too. Murray is the next Paul George. But Antonio Blakeny will reutn to school

Memphis MadnessParticipantSkal is a question mark.
If he shows ANY improvement I think he should leave.
If he gets BURIED on the roster, he still might want to leave. Take his chances in the draft and get on with his life.
I am looking at the back end of the first round and it looks ok for Skal. You have a juggernaut Warriors team who I think could use him. He could be the Mo Speights replacement. And, if Ezeli leaves, then they will be thin inside.
The Sixers have an additional two late first round picks at 18 and 28. So, if they end up with Ben Simmons at the top of the draft, or even if they get the Lakers pick if it falls to 4, and if they themselves fall to 3 then I think they go with Kris Dunn and Buddy Hield at the TOP of the draft, then look at 18 and 28 for additional bigs and maybe a small forward. Skal is a guy for the future and Saric insurance.
If the Sixers end up with 1, 4, 18, and 28 I think they go with Ben Simmons at 1, Hield at 4 (if Kris Dunn moves to 3), Valentine if he is there at 18, and then Skal. That’s what I would do: surround Ben Simmons with shooters.
If the Sixers fall to 2 and pick up 4 then they go Brandon Ingram and Kris Dunn (in my opinion). From there they go BPA but I think they also look at upside and shooting.
The Spurs are at 29 and might think about taking a more polished player, BUT they don’t really have an athletic stretch four on the team, and I think they can turn Skal into at least a solid one.
If he doesn’t project to be a top 10 pick even if he stays next year, then I think he should leave and take a shot at getting drafted in the mid to late first round.

TarHeelRavenParticipantI know Skal would never do this, but perhaps he should leave school and play overseas for a year. It is completely insane that anybody would draft Skal as of now, but of course, some GM will take a chance on him. Skal will absolutely be eaten alive in the league. In my opinion, he should maybe play in China and actually see some court time, instead of being regulated to the bench in the league.

LaFlamaBlancaParticipantThats why teams draft people and send them to the dleague…. too talented and way too much potential to go undrafted. agree he wont make a big impact first couple of years but a team will for sure take a chance on him.

YungmUNyParticipantI really don’t see Deyonta Davis leaving Michigan State early. He’s just not ready, and Izzo has usually been pretty frank with his guys about their ability to succeed on the next level. I can see him talking Davis into staying around and being a part of a title contender with that group of five stars coming in.

IlladelphParticipantYou guys who keep saying that no team would draft skal are missing the point. The draft is about potential and projecting that potential out 2,3,or more years out. His limitations now stem from a lack of strength, experience, and understanding the game. All of these things improve over time. he is an elite talent nonetheless, and is 7 feet tall. He will, without a doubt, come out this year and he will be drafted in the lottery for the reasons stated above.
The team that picks him will know going in that he is an upside pick, and they will develop him accordingly.

YungmUNyParticipantNot that I’m disagreeing with you, because you make some valid points, but why does his age not seem to be a bigger issue when discussing his potential? We hammer guys like A.J. Hammons because of their age, but when people bring up Skal’s disappointing season, there’s all this upside talk with no one mentioning that he’s about to turn 20. I know he’s relatively new to basketball, but he’s also old for a freshman. Yeah, he’s big and "skilled," but how much more than guys like Diamond Stone, who is almost a year younger? (Sidenote: I was really impressed to learn tonight that Stone is an 80% free-throw shooter on the year, as he went 4-4 against MSU tonight) I mean, Skal is closer in age to Damian Jones than he is Diamond Stone.

IlladelphParticipantSkal gets a pass on his age simply because he is so new to the game. It’s not like Shabazz Muhammed for example who played AAU his whole life, and lied about his age so that he could look even better against a younger, weaker field. Skal really has played no organized ball to speak of since coming to the U.S. It would be different if he had played against elite competition for years but then suddenly couldn’t play against D1 talent.

TarHeelRavenParticipantForget the basketball aspect of Skal. Shouldn’t his off-court situation with his guardian be a serious red flag. From all accounts, this guy is bad news and looking to profit off of Skal. For god’s sake, this guy created a high school for Skal and was his coach. Foeget the fact he played at like 6 different high schools. It just seems like a guy struggling to play against even mediocre competition in the SEC at the collegeiate level AND his guardian would be a huge red flag for NBA GM’s, even with his potential.
