valentineout of all the big schools id have to go with maryland. They rarely get the sexy recruit but they still compete or go farther then peopel expect and there the last team i remeber to get to the final four then the title game without a mcdonalds all american. gary seems to get the diamonds in the rough and get every once of productivity out of them. i wonder how many titles maryland would have if gary got the recruits that duke,nc,kentucky, texas, memphis, etc got

JoeWolf1Yeah, Izzo is good when it comes to that. Jay Wright of Villanova, Brad Stevens of Butler, and Lon Kruger of UNLV should all get some consideration too.

gatorheelsParticipantCoach Stallings (Vanderbilt) Vandy is always competitive & most seasons unbeatable at home. Considering they never get the top recruits I would say Stallings has done a good job with the talent in hand. This year I expect Vandy to return to the NCAA tournament.

doubledribblerParticipantIzzo is amazing. He takes a lot of in state kids. Rarely ever gets the superstar, but always wins. The guy knows how to build a program and how to develop players. Part of that development goes along with getting guys that plan to stay 3-4 years though. The guy can coach though.
It’s funny how I think there are some guys that are ok coaches, but great recruiters (Calipari, Billy Donovan). Great coaches and great recruiters (Pitino, Roy Williams, Bill Self). Then guys like Izzo (Tubby Smith) who are not great recruiters, but a big part of that has to do with choice and how they want to run their program.
