Wavy BagelsParticipantWith all this draft conspiracy theory fiasco (rightfully so), I have suggestion for the NBA. Why don’t they display the ACTUAL lottery on national television? Only then will the talks seize.
Thoughts on why/why not this should happen?

JunkYardDogParticipantI think they should brodcast the lottery live : 1 ball for every lottery team…

TyroberParticipantYou can make an excuse for some conspiracy theory for almost every team. Blazers get it because of Roy and Oden not working out. Nets get it as trade bait to lure Dwight Howard. Rockets get it because they desperately need a superstar. Suns need it more because they need another superstar after Nash leaves. Hornets get it because NBA owned the team.

MKG_AllDayParticipantfor the conspiracy thing I don’t know what to say, but I wish the NBA would gurantee the first pick to a team that did herrendous and no ones losing record is close to theres, and after giving that pick they should do a lottery.

TMoney617Participant^only problem is that the whole "tanking" thing might become worse if teams know they’ll get the first pick if they have the worse record. And also what happens if the two worse teams have close to the same record. The best thing is to do the lottery live but keep the odds the same.

GrandmamaParticipantIf there were a conspiracy, why would the NBA want the Hornets to get the pick? Executives get to witness the lottery, it’s not like it’s done in some secluded basement with David Stern all by himself. Why would David Stern risk his life for something as stupid as rigging the lottery. If he were caught he’d be in jail, lose his job, and would be throwing away millions of dollars. There isn’t any f*cking conspiracy.

butidonthavemoneyIf they displayed the actual lottery on TV, then they would have to open with the first pick instead of the 14th. It would lose a lot of suspense, and therefore, a lot of appeal.

butidonthavemoneyBesides, people would still cry conspiracy:
"Stern obviously weighed down the Hornets ball so they would win the lottery because everybody knows he wanted to sell the team and he couldn’t unless he promised that they would get the first pick and they did it on TV so they could fool us but I’m too smart to be fooled because I see the truth."
There’s no conspiracy.
People just like to think their team was victimized because it gives them an excuse when arguing with other fanboys.
