I was just having this debate the other day with a friend…  Would you take Ben Simmons #1 in this draft (let’s assume he didn’t have the Jones fracture for the sake of simplicity).  It might come down to which team won the lottery, but I think he’d still definitely go #1.

Now Brandon Ingram in this draft, I’m not entirely sure where he’d go (though he was looking like a baller to end the season).

Ben would be #1. Wouldn’t even think twice about it.

I like Josh Jackson and think he has mini Leonard potential, but I still take Ingram as my first wing off the board.

#1 easy. I think Ingram would still be in the #2 conversation, especially with how he looked at the end of the season, but I could see a team taking Fultz or Jackson over him

Simmons is such a special talent. While we don’t know how any of these guys will actually translate in the NBA, we can make the assumption that the double teams Simmons commands early in his career will be not be effective mainly because this guy’s court vision is crazy. It helps him that he’s playing alongside Embiid and (likely) some top shooting prospects.

Simmons goes #1 easy. Ingram is right in line with the top prospects this year and would go slighty above Tatum but I think behind Ball and Fultz

Simmons is probably in the same tier as Fultz and Ball (some put Jackson there as well). Boston would take Fultz (Simmons is less useful off the ball), LA would take Ball, Phoenix would take Simmons, Philly would take Fultz (if they had Ingram instead, for instance), Sacremento and New York would take Simmons, Orlando would be split, Ball seems like the best fit.

I’ll go Fultz no. 1 easily, without looking back. I like Simmons a lot, but I don;’t love his scoring potential to put him ahead of Fultz and Ball. Both are special talent and both are great jump shooters. My top 10 big board for if we combined the 2016 and 2017 draft classes:

    1.) Markelle Fultz

    2.) Lonzo Ball

    3.) Ben Simmons

    4.) Josh Jackson

    5.) Brandon Ingram

    6.) Jayson Tatum

    7.) De’Aaron Fox

    8.)Dennis Smith Jr.

    9.) Jaylen Brown

    10.)Jonathan Isaac

It is hard for me to call Ball a great jump shooter with that wonky form of his. He is effective in college but a lot of people worry about him getting those shots off as easily against high caliber defenders. You could put Fultz ahead of Simmons because of his scoring ability but Ball is way riskier.

Simmons has the same type of vision, more athleticism and is half a foot taller. I take Simmons all day everyday over Lonzo and I kinda like Lonzo and picked UCLA to win it all.

I’d say he’d have had him going at 1 on my mock as he’d have been a perfect fit at SF/PF for Boston if they retain top pick. I think his size and ball skills would have been too tempting for most teams to overlook. Lakers if they had got imaginary top pick would surely have taken him. Phoenix with all due respect to TJ Warren wouldn’t overlook him. Philly would also likely draft him again at first. Likewise Knicks and Minny I reckon.

There is a Lot of really good talent in this Draft but I would call it B level talent

    I consider Fultz A level & maybe Jackson B+ or A-

But in the modern NBA to have a Simmons on your team just opens your franchise up to So many possiblities long term b/c you can plug Simmons in w/ Any other Star level player & he Enhances their game

If Lonzo Ball was 5 inches taller, an Elite athlete, primary initiator who could could penetrate off the dribble & get to Any spot on the floor he pleases at will he would be Ben Simmons

     1.) Simmons !!

2.) pick would be a hard battle bettween Fultz, Ball and if the choosing team is in need of a Wing/SF i would prefer the player that fits in the system and fits his teammates. Ingram/Tatum/Jackson/Isaac/Jaylen Brown are all different types of players and persons.

For me it is impossible to make a choice because lottery is not set, i have seen Ingram as a Laker, i have seen Simmons in summer league and no nba team has worked 2017 draftes out.

But just for fun Draft 2016/2017 combined (i try to forget that i have seen some of the players in the nba)

     My choice would be:

    2.) Fultz

    3.) Ball

    4.) Tatum

    5.) Jamal Murray

    6.) Jackson

    7.) Ingram

    8.) Fox

    9.) Hield

    10.) Jaylen Brown

    11.) Isaac

I have been a fan of Murray before 2016 draft. I had a big gap between Simmons and the rest of 2016. I like Tatum because he is looking more nba ready than Jackson or Ingram.

But dont forget its just fun and players like Fox, Smith Jr., Monk, Ntilikina could easy climb in the top 3 after workouts.
