If he pulls out, he will still be definitively the top center prospect next year and a lottery lock. With his buyout issues and a potential lockout it would be smart for him to withdraw.

Is this official? I mean, has anything been officially announced by Valanciunas or his representatives?

I am confident that he will participate in the NBA draft. In Lithuania does not have any knowledge about the withdrawal of the application. In addition, rumors say that, despite the large buyout he will remain in draft

It is not official, and I haven’t heard anything about it. I think Valanciunas intends on entering this year’s draft, but with his buyout issues, I guess there’s a chance he withdraws. But I have heard nothing about this, so Aran should have waited until confirmation to remove him from the mock.

Why does he need to wait? He believes he is not going to enter the draft, and if he does he can put him back in. Do not know why this is such a huge issue, and he could be right about it. If not, I am sure he will be back in the Mock Draft and take all of your worries away.

    ^^ Why would he withdraw?

Because of the buyout which only allows teams to pay a certain amount, not only will the team that drafts him have to pay just to get him but Jonas will have to pay 2.5 million out of his own pocket, so unless he has some sponsorships lined up with the rookie scale that’s a hell of a time having to pay 2.5 mil just to play. It’s a mess since he has no buyout clause so his club in Europe has all the leverage in negotiations.

I heard his buyout would only be around 500,000

This was taken from espn’s insider column this afternoon

"Sources close to this situation say the deal will look something like this," he wrote. "Whatever team drafts Jonas will pay Lietuvos Rytas a $500,000 buyout, the maximum allowed under the current Collective Bargaining Agreement. Valanciunas will agree to pay a percentage of his first NBA contract to Lietuvos Rytas based on a sliding scale depending on where he gets drafted. Lietuvos Rytas is reportedly hurting for cash, and the buyout terms being talked about are acceptable according to sources, they are simply working through the language and the details."

If such a deal comes to fruition, it’s looking like his buyout situation may not be as much of a hurdle as previously thought.
