UnbiasedObserverParticipantI want to know what everyones opinion is on where he lands.
I personally think he ends up with the Celtics. The C’s have not had a physical presence down low since Perk. Danny Ainge has a chance to fill the hardest position in basketball to fill with a quality center that can rebound, defend, and block shots very well. What he lacks in offensive skill he makes up for in hustle and extra posessions for his team that he creates because of his intensity and hustle.
I would predict the Celtics give the Rockets: Bass, either Bogans or MarShon Brooks, and a first round pick for Asik.
Imagine a lineup of Rondo, Bradley, Green, Sullinger, and Asik. That is a scary defensive unit.
Thoughts?

Prime TimeParticipantI’ve thought about Osik going to Boston for awhile. I wouldn’t mind it. I think he could be a good fit and make up for the defense/shot blocking that Sullinger and KO lack.

AmiableBaller34ParticipantI wouldn’t mind Asik to the Celtics if it only cost them Bass and Lee, but I don’t like the idea of having a PG/C combo that shoots >60% from the free throw line. That seems a little reckless for my taste, and would like to see how the season unfolds before I made a trade like this. The Celtics currently sit 4th in the East, but are only one game up on BRK in the lose collumn, and I don’t see the Nets maintaining their poor level of play. The same could be said for the Cavs, Wizards, and Knicks who could all leap frog us in the standings. I rather the Celtics wait and see instead of going all in on a player like Asik.
I think Asik will most likely end up in Philly. It just makes too much sense to me. They have three players, Turner, Hawes, and Thad who are all going to get paid, and none of them are in the teams future plans. It’s been reported that they’re interested in Asik, so a combination of players could probably get it done. My best bet would be Asik to Philly for Thad Young, who would act as a pretty good stretch four.

AmiableBaller34ParticipantIn todays NBA is Horford really a 4? For some reason I just don’t see him closing out on guys like Ryan Anderson, or being able to stay in front of the quicker 4’s like when LeBron, Melo, or Durant switches over. I also don’t like that trade in general. What is Asik going to provide the Hawks that Millsap doesn’t? I understand Asik is a great post defender, but Millsap is averaging 16.5/8/ 2.7 with 1 block, 1.6 steals, on 50% and 40% shooting from three. He has a 19.83 PER, and has been playing great for ATL. I really don’t like this trade idea unless I’m a Rockets fan.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantYeah, Millsap is definitely the better player between the two. I don’t see the Hawks pulling the trigger on that unless Danny Ferry has lost his mind.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantThe rumors and names I keep hearing around the mill are:
- Brandon Bass (with C.Lee)
- Jeff Green
- Thaddeus Young
- Spencer Hawes
- Anderson Varejao
- Paul Millsap
- Bismack Biyombo (with picks)
Of course, they’re just rumors, so take it with a grain of salt.

joecheck88ParticipantI think Asik to Dallas makes sense for the Mavs. I think he’s a much better player than Dalembert and could help that team be as competitive as possible. Just don’t see what they have that Houston would want. Out of all the trades, I like Bass and Lee best. Tough backup 4 with a midrange game and a solid perimeter defender and shooter. Don’t know who’s minutes he takes though.

he_gets_bucketsParticipantI dont think Jeff Green or Jarred Sullinger are striking fear in many offensive players hearts.

ericw2013ParticipantIt will probably wont happen because neither of the teams would try to help the other, but…
Wouldnt an Asik for Ibaka trade work??
I belive the best OKC lineup is with KD at the 4… so, is Ibaka a good enough C? Besides the blind side Blocks, is Ibaka better in D than Asik? Wouldnt him be the solution that they were finding with Perkins? Also, financially it would take them under the TAX, OR… make room for another signing if they want to go all in this year (Although he is due a lot over the next 2 years, the cap hit is only 8MM a year).
Ibaka would fit wonderfull with Houston, and I think he would make a terrific partnership with Howard, so if someone says no must be OKC, right? And if they throw a Pick in?

gkhjasonParticipantI don’t think Asik alone will get Millsap…
How about:
Houston receives: Paul Millsap
Atlanta receives: Omer Asik, Patrick Beverley, Donatas MotiejunasHouston get the stretch 4 + rebounding that they want, Atlanta gets a legit C to pair up with Horford, a sixth man in Beverley and a prospect in Montie.
Works on the trade machine too
