just a few ideas… which of these do you think the clippers could do ? heres a coupla trades i though they might be able to pull after they draft blake.

1) send him to the pacers for dunleavy and tinsley.
both wont play a minute next year for indiana with dunleavy out injured and tinsley…well. i doubt the pacers would want randolph he’d just add the pacers to his extensive list of team chemistry kills.
this deal kind of favours the clippers big time so they might have to throw in a draft pick or two… maybe deandre jordan aswell?
i wonder if mike dunleavy would be better playing for his father… he’d probably get favored to start over eric gordon when he gets healthy…

2) send him to milwaukee for gadzuric and ridnour
i think the bucks might bite on this trade. it lets them allow villanueva to walk, and gives them a solid scorer…clippers dont get much in return than a shaky guard and an average rebounder.

those are the two most realistic trades i could see happening… anyone else have suggestions?

I think they should trade Zack to charlotte for Diop Radman and May. May doesn’t seem to be working out and MJ will be able to figure out what to do with a twenty and ten scorer. The clips get rebounding from Diop which can’t hurt.

i dont think pacers would want to get zach randolph. they’ve been trading for and drafting good character guys. in your milwaukee trade, i think they’d have to add another piece. i dont think the contracts of ridnour and gadzuric are enough for randolph’s massive contract, but it’s pretty good. and talent-wise, i think randolph could be a steal for any team, they just need to have a lot of good character veterans that randolph would listen to (ex. spurs, cavs, celtics, houston)

Although Milwaukee would be doing cartwheels to get rid of gadzuric’s insane contract (thanks larry harris) and ridnour’s clankers of jumpshots but when randolph was in new york a trade was as good as done that was gadzuric and charlie bell for randolph and fred jones but the trade was shot down by owner herb kohl because of randolph’s character issues. I dont think randolph is a scott skiles type of guy he doesn’t really play any defense.

I think that he should go to Phoenix. He could play the 2009-2010 season with Shaq and Nash and if ANYONE in the league could get that bum to start having just a “mild gravitational pull” instead of being a blackhole and “consuming all matter” (matter and possessions, that is) maybe a couple of still good, former MVP’s could. Once they lose Amare, the Suns will have the cap space and roster spot to do it. They could also use a little bit of post scoring. Also, with Phoenix looking to pick up the pace once again, Randolph showed that he could actually flourish in a fast paced system (just like he did with D’Antoni in New York), being probably one of the few available 20/10 PF who could actually keep up.

When Shaq and Nash come off the books (at least insane contract wise), Zach Randolph will actually have a somewhat “manageable” contract, one that will be coming off the books in just a couple of years. It also, going back to the Amare situation, it allows the Suns to try and get the MOST talent for Amare. Not just trying to replace some of the things that Amare does and they would be losing.

Although people don’t see it, zach randolph is still young and can play the 3, 4, and 5 with ease. It is able to score like crazy and rebound through bigger players. And considering his size, he is a monster from beyond the arc. I don’t agree with the contract that was given to him, but that is too late now. Suprisingly there are a few scenarios that could be tossed around. One could include the Sacramento Kings. Being a Nets fan though, I see this as a good move for Sacramento, who of course would acquire Zach Randolph and maybe a point guard, such as Mike Taylor or Mardy Collins. The Clippers would acquire Beno Udrih and Andres Nocioni. This would be a great addition to the Kings, adding to their frontcourt of Jason Thompson and Spencer Hawes (although not the best center). If the Kings work out a deal to draft Rubio, then Taylor or Collins could fit in as a backup. Udrih has been wanted by the Clippers for awhile, and Nocioni would add to their backcourt, although his minutes could interfere with Thorton’s minutes. This trade would help the Kings out greatly if they are able to build around their talents.

IMO, the only teams that would take Z. Randolph would be teams that have a strong foundation and just needs an extra offensive punch. To meet this criteria, it would have to be a winning team with solid leadership foundation. For this reason, I doubt young teams like Milwaukee and Indy would allow him to hijack their teams. Phoenix has enough scorers who do not play defense, and do not need him.

Cleveland might work, but it would be a downgrade defensively to play Z. Randolph instead of A. Varejao. On the flip side this trade would be a huge upgrade offensively, which would force teams to guard both of their bigs. The lack of offense at the 4 position was a weakness that Orlando exposed (D. Howard was just watching Lebron while leaving A. Varejao alone. Joe Smith anyone?). The trade would be simple too. The expiring contract of Ben Wallace matches up perfectly. Some picks, and maybe a Boobie and/or S. Pavlovic for R. Davis swap might entice the clips enough. Since Lebron is the undisputed leader of this team, Z. Randolph will be forced to be a good soldier. Clippers would get a huge expiring contract (who might retire early), a veteran former defensive player of the year to help tutor Griffin, picks, a possible upgrade over the dismal R. Davis, and Boobie might serve as a decent back up for Baron (though I doubt his ability to play the point)

If Orlando chooses to build a more traditional lineup (or if Hedo leaves as a FA), then Z. Randolph might work as well. For T. Battie, JJ Redick, and R. Alston it is possible. T. Battie is useless if Orlando is able to hold onto M. Gortat, and with a healthy J. Nelson, R. Alston is expendable. T. Battie would give The clips a veteran big to help tutor B. Griffin, like he’s done with D. Howard, R. Alston will give them insurance if B. Davis gets hurt again, and JJ Redick will give them the three point shooting they need. As an added bonus, all three of them are in expiring contracts and picks can be added to entice the clips. With J. Nelson and D. Howard firmly in control of the eastern conference champions, Z. Randolph poises no risk, and D. Howard will make up for Z. Randolph’s defensive deficiencies.

San Antonio is in need of an upgrade, and Randolph could provide some of that for M. Bonner, K. Thomas, B. Bowen, and G. Hill. M. Bonner would provide three point shooting, K. Thomas and B. Bowen would provide tough defense and experience, and G. Hill a young a prospect to back up Baron. All of them, but hill are in expiring contracts. Pops and T. Duncan could hold Z. Randolph in check, but SA seems more interested in upgrading their wings than adding a competing post presence for T. Duncan.

It may seem like the Clips are only receiving junk for a 20/10 pf, but honestly, that is all he is worth at this point. You just have to look at the last two times he was traded to accept this. The first time for S. Francis (who was promptly cut) and C. Frye, and the second time for T. Thomas and C. Mobley (promptly retired). All trades were checked using Realgm.com Trade Checker.

The only three places I could see Randolph going…

1. Cleveland: I agree with blancs50 that Cleveland would be interested in Zach Randolph and that LeBron would keep him in check. Cleveland needs the extra offensive help for LeBron and giving up a Ben Wallace who is considering retirement is not a bad price. I don’t think there is any need to entice the Clippers since they would jump at the chance to get expiring contracts for Randolph and also free up playing time for Griffin.

2. Milwaukee: I really like the trade proposed by te-real-deal of Gadzuric and Ridnour for Randolph. Milwaukee expressed interest in Randolph before and would shed off Gadzuric’s two year deal. Trading for Randolph would allow for Milwaukee to let Villanueva go and sign Sessions back and the Clippers would save roughly 10 million next year and would free up playing time for Griffin.

3. Chicago: They still need an offensive post presence which they could get with Randolph. All Chicago would have to part with are Jerome James and Tim Thomas.This trade probably wont happen though since Chicago will wait and see if they can get a deal done for either Amare Stoudamire or Chris Bosh.

oh and if hedo leaves or stay I think the magic should get more versitle by getting donte green in case rashard lweis or hedo gets injured or fould out the game donte green can come off the bench in fill a void with out messing up magics offense. Another plus is green is younger then both of them so when there up there in age they have a replacemect in donte green orlando should really look into that.

I do not think that Orlando will be able to pry D. Green away from the Kings with out over paying. They gave up there best player last year, R. Artest, to claim him, and I think they view him as their small forward for the future. There will be some decent 3s that may or will slip tothe end of the first round of the draft which will be much easier to obtain by Orlando such as D. Summers, D. Brown, and possibly C. Budinger. D. Summers is the more likely of the 3 to slip to Orlando, and he seems like the perfect player to play that 3/4 position that hedo and R. Lewis share considering his size and shooting touch.

Randolph counts for $33.3M against the cap the next two seasons and he’s locker room poison.

* Cleveland won’t want him for that reason, even if LeBron is the alpha dog, and Randolph’s numbers will go down a lot because he will take a lot less shots and Mike Brown requires his players to defend.

* He won’t go to Chicago, because he’s locker room poison, which is diametrically opposed to what Del Negro is trying to do.

* Milwaukee is a possibility, but he doesn’t strike me a Skiles player.

Because teams sending players would likely offer expiring contracts, the Clips may need to offer a future 1st round pick with top 10 protection to sweeten the pot.

Did I mention Randolph is locker room poison?

the kings look lottery bound for years to come so they will be stacked with young talent and it might be easier to get some of their talent in return for future draft picks. Why would the kings be interested in getting draft picks fro other teams, because they can move up in the draft or trade their picks for already established players. Yeah there will be other small fowards who can play the 4 also but donte green has the ceiling to be the second coming of Rashard Lewis. That a make the magic bench deep. But you might be rite donte green has a great penertation game and if add the Rashard lewis comparions you have a good young player so it might be harder to pry “him”.

How about sending him to washington? despite being the 2nd worst team in the league, they have a playoff roster? gilbert missed practically the whole season. replacing the aging jamison would be something they should consider. In my trade, i see jamison and blatche going to D.C. for randolph and collins.

A. Blatche and A. Jamison is really over paying for Z, Randolph and . Collins. A. Jamison might be a little older, but he provides similar production as Z. Randolph (20/10 and no D), but his maturity and leadership make him more valuable. M. Collins will never be more than a back up, while A. Blatche has the potential to be a very good athletic, jump shooting bigman. The Wizards could get away with the expiring contracts of E. Thomas and M. James and possibly one of their young players such as N. Young, D. Mcguire, or J. Critten.

like I said in my earlier post, Z. Randolph’s value is diminished by his on court demeanor (the great black hole), team history (teams get worse when he arrives, and better when he leaves), and personal history (DUI). If the Cavs don’t pick up Shaq with B. Wallace’s expiring contract, then Z. Randolph should be an easy pick up, because much like the Trailblazers did not want to expose G. Oden to Z. Randolph’s selfishness, I’m sure the Clippers want to keep him away from B. Griffin.

Milwaukee cuts a lot of salary by dumping Gadzuric on the Clippers, and they can also get rid of RJ’s contract…they also acquire a big time scorer/rebounder, who they can pair with Bogut for the next 2 years, and Redd on the perimeter…Outlaw comes off the books in the summer of 2010 too, so they really save a lot of $ here, which is their goal this offseason!!!
they also keep their draft pick which they can spend on a PG(Flynn, Maynor), so they can let CV31 and Sessions walk and still possibly get better!!!

Portland gets their guy who they have coveted for years…he fits perfectly with them, and complements Roy, Aldridge, & Oden very well, all they have to give up is Outlaw, who is on the block anyway!!!

LA gets rid of Randolph’s contract, and even though they take on another bad contract in Gadzuric’s, I don’t think they’ll mind…they also get another 1st round pick via Portland!!!

I love the trade to CLE for Big Ben, but if that 1 doesn’t happen…I think this is the only other option that would make all parties happy!!!

don’t think this happens. randolph’s contract extends over 2010, and the cavs are trying to be way under the cap to sign another star to pair up with lebron (if he re-ups). i like that deal though, if lebron would re-sign this summer…that’s an if.
