I’m sort of confused. Where does the NBA get the heights for players from when they list them on rosters? It can’t be from the combine? Andre Drummond measured in at 7’0" at the combine, and when he stands next to Greg Monroe he is clearly taller, yet the Pistons website has him listed at 6’10". Thomas Robinson measured in a little over 6’8" in shoes, yet he is listed at 6’10". Both Damian Lillard and Derrick Rose measured in at 6 foot 2.25 inches in shoes yet they are listed at 6’3". So how does the NBA list heights now? Because a lot of them seem off.

 Idk how they do it but I remember a long time ago KG was supposedly measured at seven foot but said he wanted to be listed at 6’11 so people wouldn’t automatically assume he was a center since seven foot is the ideal height for that position. So it makes you wonder if players have an input or if teams alter the listings to portray something different. Kinda like with Durant he looks as tall if not taller than Perkins but it looks bad if you list your center shorter than your small forward. Idk but it makes u wonder tho

 I have thought about this too. I think its is for conveniences with players that are like 6’2.50 to just label them 6’3, the other theory I had players can just tell the NBA or team the height they want to be listed.

I agree with you guys, it’s really odd to me why they don’t list the players at whatever height they were measured at. Who really cares if you’re an inch shorter than "ideal"? I remember last season the Wolves had Pekovic listed at the weight he was drafted at (243lbs). And everyone knew that there was no way in hell he was a pound under 290lbs. Also, KG has been quoted as saying he is 6’13”. Haha.

It’s kind of funny to look at a lot of the discrepancies of NBA heights and weights.

I’m guessing so that the scouting staff on the other team has to do a tad bit more homework when scouting.  Back in high school, my coach used to (and probably still does) list us 2-4 inches taller than we actually were.  I think it’s pointless in the NBA because it’s not like these guys don’t know eachother but who knows.

 Andre Drummond measured in at 6’9"75 without shoes exactly the same as Greg Monroe so I don’t know how that turns into 7′ unless he wheres highheels on the court.

 This is correct.

Andre Drummond was measured at 6’9.75" at the 2012 draft combine. I doubt he has grown much since then.

That being said, he was measured at 6’11.75" in shoes, a full 2" taller than without shoes.

Players are never listed as .25", .5" or .75", so in Drummonds case he is likely rounded up to an even 7′ for convenience.

 Donta Green has always been listed at 6’11 in the NBA, but he measured only 6’8.25 without shoes.

I met J. Noah and Brad Miller in a bar in Chicago. Miller was so much shorter than Noah that I couldn’t figure out that it was Brad Miller at first even though I had just been at a game that night and seen him play. Listed heights are just very arbitrary. Usually they are "in shoes" and often with an extra inch over that.

Basically, generally speaking, the NBA players true heights without shoes are an inch less than their listed height, so if a guy is listed as 6’10 he is probably really only 6’9 without shoes.
