The Scare Crow RisesParticipantI was the first to admit I wasn’t that high on him as a prospect at first but he grew on me as a defender/slasher and I thought he’d be a very good G/F by now in his career, a couple injuries later and he’s almost a non factor in New York…can he turn his career around somewhere else or is he going to be a mediocre player from here on out?

GrandmamaParticipantNot too sure about him being overrated, and especially not one of the most overrated. Nobody talks about him, he’s an afterthought. Solid defender, can score from time to time. He is what he is, and isn’t overrated. He’s just an average player.

he_gets_bucketsParticipantI still laugh every time a 2K game comes out with Shump, Avery Bradley and Darren Collison all having 80+ ratings.

ConezdParticipantThank you. I don’t know how in the world Avery Bradley or iman shumpert get over a 72-73 rating. Ok at D but that’s their only skill. Neither shoot well or handle the ball well for their position. At all. And Bradley is severely undersized to defend even average sized 2 gaurds. Shumpert, to me, is a 7th guy off the bench who can D up in spurts. That’s it. As evidence by the Knicks poor record and playing less minutes than the screwball JR Smith at the same position. Btw, the Knicks stink so, who cares?! Should have traded him. But that may also be evidence that he is over valued by the stupid Knocks only. Since no one agreed to take him.

omphalosParticipantFrom all accounts, the ACL is a two-year injury in terms of full recovery, there’s a good chance he bounces back next season. He made his living off athletic plays and stellar D, he doesn’t have that without full fitness.
I’m not sure if he has a future with the Knicks, because Hardaway Jr is showing all the signs of a starting SG for the future and that’s Iman’s best position.
Off the top of my head, the Hawks, Philly, Chicago, Milwaukee and the Celtics could all use a young athletic SG who can defend, assuming he regains full health.

tuck243ParticipantThabo Selfolosha, Kevin Martin, Lance Stephenson, Joe Johnson, and Klay Thompson are the only starting players at the 2 guard position in the league that are 6’6 and over. Can some one please tell me why 6’3, 6’4, and 6’5 is undersized in this league now? I feel its only undersized if you can’t finish offensively. What 2 guard are giving them fits because of their size? I always felt like that was a ridiculous thing to say about shooting guards today. The last of the post up 2 guard era is Kobe and Joe Johnson. And Kobe injured right now, I don’t see any 2 guard posting these guys up and consistently scoring on them. So please stop calling these guys undersized for their position. Even Joe Johnson have a hard time scoring on these guys.
Iman is just on a team that has no will to play defense which his strongest attribute. Also, he is allowed to take damn near whatever shot he want in NYC, add the fact that he gain confindence through playing for the Knicks (like the fans loved him and I’m sure he thinks he’s the big man on campus now), he taking bad shots. You seeing it with Tim Hardaway Jr. He made some big shots earlier in the year, went to All-Star weekend and got some confidence, now he’s playing out of character.

Nope, nobody can. I totally get your point. There’s too much talk about undersized players, when it’s clear athleticism and length can compensate for those 6’3” SGs and 6’8”’ PFs. Hello Eric Gordon and Kenneth Faried? Btw, Kobe is 6’4.75” w/o shoes, which is always translated into 6’6” w/shoes.
Now back to Iman Shumpert. I don’t think he was ever projected to be a top 10 SG in the league. His injury caused him to step back a little and his defense now looks pedestrian, but he can still improve. IMO he can easily become a rich man’s Kent Bazemore with a consistent 3pt shot and a 4th/5th option on a contending team.

TRACYSPOONParticipantI thought he would be a better player by now. He is very inconsistent. Tim Hardaway Jr., should be starting for the Knicks. I don’t think the coach has any ideal what he is doing!

tuck243ParticipantBut I don’t think you watched the Knicks lately. Tim Hardaway Jr. has been playing awful and defensively he’s clueless. No way he should start.
