The Warriors have a bunch of holes in their roster due to free agency and roster makeup. Cleveland and in some way Oklahoma City exposed biggest weaknesses in rebounding and the wing position. The small ball lineup was held to a stand still due tp the rebounding issue and the ineffectiveness of Harrison Barnes. So, how can Golden State fix their problem via FA and/or draft:

    FA::

SF: Nic Batum/Chandler Parsons – I believe they should let Harrison Barnes walk given how poor he played in the post season and that he might command big money on the open market. Nic Batum might be a little overprice for the Warriors can get, but I believe he would fit perfectly with the Warriors. Chandler Parson been a little injury prone throughout his career,  but he will be a big upgrade over Barnes.

C:: Joakim Noah/Larry Sanders – Larry Sanders is a bit of a random pick, but I read an interview on him that he hasn’t given up ion the NBA yet. Larry Sanders is still a quality young defensive big that can really help out on the offensive glass. On the other hand, Joakim Noah is an upgraded virsion of Andrew Bogut that can really help out more on the defensive glass and pass the ball better. He will be a great fit on the Warriors.

    DRAFT

Damion Jones/Brice Johnson – Brice Johnson can help right away by being the best rebounder in this years draft class and is really athletic. And Damion Jones can be their next Festus Ezeli from Vanderbilt. He’s more of an developmental piece, but he’s a very talented big that in the future can be on eof the best bigs in the draft,

If they let Barnes go, Parsons would be a very interesting replacement.  That is assuming they dont get Durant.

I didnt realize Larry Sanders was still around. Something about drugs rings a bell.  But, that being said, he was an interesting young player.  Rim protection and rebounding go a long way.. Look at Hassan Whiteside.

I cant see anyone they draft having much of an impact.  Wouldnt be shocked if they end up selling/trading that pick.

You realize that even if they let Barnes walk they have 0 cap dollars to sign anyone else? They’d have to basically gut their bench to sign one of those guys mentioned. I’m not sure how that makes them a better team

A loophole to get by that is via sign-and-trade. You’re allowed to go over the cap for that but you can’t go 4M past the luxury tax line.

the cap for 2016/2017 will be 94mil. Warriors have 74mil in committed money, leaving them 20 mil to sign their own FA or bring in talent.

You’re allowed to go over the cap to re-sign your own players if you have their bird rights. You can’t go over the cap with UFAs.

There’s cap holds for all their bench guys (Barbosa, Speights, Clark, Barnes and Ezeli)…meaning they’d have to renounce all those guys to have that 20 million. That’s not counting the cap hold for their draft pick and empty roster spots…which means they may have to release Livingston too just to get over the $20 million dollar figure it would take to get either Batum or Parsons. So you’re going to let go of 5-6 players for 1? How does that improve the team

Trade Durant and filler contracts to Golden State for Harrison Barnes, Andrew Bogut, Iggy, Shaun Livingston, and the 30th pick.

That actually might be a LOT to give up for Durant, but GSW should hold out for that…

The Thunder don’t get another top tier 1st option (1A?) back but they DO get a guy in Barnes who can play the 3 and can shoot and score a bit with solid athleticism.  Iggy can also play the 3, or the 4, and make some plays on both sides of the ball.  He and Roberson would be nice on defense.

Shaun Livingston would be an IDEAL backup point guard to Westbrook.  OR, they go with BOTH guys using Livingston at point, and Russ at the 2.  Helps form a nice 3 combo guard rotation along with Waiters.

Bogut gives them some toughness inside next to either Ibaka or Kanter. Can board, block some shots, pass, and score a bit.  Then they can get a decent rotation guy at 30 in a decently deep draft.

The Thunder’s NEW first team would be Russ, Roberson, Harrison Barnes, Serge, and Bogut.  Big, long, decent athletically, and defensively.

SECOND TEAM: Shaun Livingston, Dion Waiters, Iggy, Mitch McGary (or draft pick), and Enes Kanter.

Nice pieces off the bench, too.

The Warriors lose A LOT of their rotation, but pick up an AWESOME player for their four man core.

Steph, Durant, Klay, and Draymond would be VERY hard to stop.  I would let Ezeli walk unless he takes a DEEP discount.  Bring back Andy V for cheap if he wants to come back.  See what Kevon Looney has.  Keep McAdoo as a young, athletic energy guy.

The HARD part is to get the CORE — and Steph, Durant, Klay, and Draymond would be the BEST four man core in the league.

I would try and resign Mo Speights since he can be their bench scorer and gives them enough size to clog up the middle on defense.

LOADED at the top 4, with a MLE veteran starting at center.  Possible/probable bench unit of Ian Clark, Brandon Rush, Kevon Looney, James McAdoo, and Mo Speights.  Not great, actually pretty bad, but Mo can get BUCKETS, Rush is a decent utility guy on the wing, and I like McAdoo’s bounce and laid-back energy.

BUT, any time you can get Steph, Durant, Klay, and Draymond on the same team at the same time, YOU DO IT given that Klay is solid on BOTH sides of the ball, with Draymond being near elite (at times) on both sides of the ball.  And, all four are in their PRIMES.
