With the recent news of players being added to the pool to compete for spots on the team USA roster for next years Olympics I thought it would be fun to take a guess at the depth chart for the 15 guys we will be throwing out there.

Amazing how well Colangelo and Coach K have righted the ship for USA basketball and will all the national team pride played have shown it will not be easy to cut a list from 41 to 15 as there will be a lot of good players left out, but here goes nothing…

For the record, as of now neither Kobe, Wade or Bosh are in the pool of players, though they might be added down the line.

Bear in mind this is the line up that I think we should put out there and not necessarily the one that USA will put out there bc they might give a nod to veterans like CP3 to start

    G: Curry, Kyrie, CP3

    G: Harden, Westbrook, Rose

F: Durant, Paul George, Klay Thompson

F: Lebron, Melo, Blake Griffin, Love

    C: Anthony Davis, Drummond

I will not say this is the perfect list but just a guess from what I think. Biggest snubs at this point are probably Aldridge, Cousins, Faried,, Dwight, and Kawaii.

IMO Kawaii should make it over Melo or George but I think those guys are kind of grandfathered in at this point. Lillard and Wall could also both be considered snubs but to me it seems like the USA staff picked other guards over them in the past and they are not going to back track now.

Lets here what you guys think and/or what you would change to the roster

If Dwight does decide on doing Team USA, I’d imagine he gets it. Otherwise, it looks good. This could be one of the best USA teams ina long time..

Any chance that Jimmy Butler makes the team over D Rose?

I would take Jimmy Butler or Kawhi Leonard over Derrick Rose. Every Olympic team it seems like they have a spot reserved for a great perimeter defender and Butler/Leonard are the two best perimeter defenders in the league right now IMO. And I think with Curry, Irving, CP3 and Westbrook you don’t need another PG like Rose.

    I would have my roster:

    PG – Curry, CP3, Irving

    SG – Harden, Westbrook, Klay

    SF – Durant, George, Kawhi

    PF – LeBron, Blake, Melo

C – Anthony Davis, Drummond, Cousins

but you guys are forgetting how dominate his game is at the international level. Shorter 3 pt line, shorter bigs and he is always guarded by a PF. Melo is more effective in the international game than Blake is.

PG- Westbrook, Curry, CP3 (Rose or Wall if they go young instead)

    SG- Harden, Thompson, Butler

SF- Durant, Kawhi, Parker (designated youth movement player- Def not top 15 in NBA yet)

    PF- Lebron, Melo, Love

    C- AD, Aldridge, Cousins

I like Rip255 enthusiasm. I have felt that the Australian team would b formidable for a while. But for me I really hope the older guys( lebron, melo, cp3, Dwight)sit this Olympics out, so im hopeful for a roster that looks like this.

Guards- curry, harden, Westbrook, wall, irving.

Forwards- Durant, A Davis, Blake, George,

    Center – Cousins,

I think the last 2 spots will go to Butler, kawhi, klay, Aldridge, or D-Rose. that’s assuming Paul George will be the same player if not better once he’s back from injury.

This is the probable roster that so many have been bragging about for so long that could get a silver medal? Is this serious?

With a 12-man roster, they generally carry (A) 3 PGs; (B) 3 wings; (C) 3 wings big enough to play PF in international ball and (D) 3 bigs.

So with the choice of anyone, I’d go:

    (A) Curry, Paul, Kyrie

    (B) Harden, George, Klay

    (C) LeBron, Durant, Kawhi

    (D) A.Davis, Aldridge, Blake

Apologies to Westbrook, who’ll probably be one of the best players in the NBA, and Melo who’s traditionally been one of our best FIBA players. Also, Lillard and Cousins, who have the talent to be there. I just think this roster has arguably the best mix of shooting, defense, versatility and ball-movement.

[edit] If Jimmy Butler is in the mix, he could be in play to take either Klay’s or George’s (if not 100%)’s spot.

I’d say that rule applies to any 12-man roster. You usually need 3 players who can play the point and 3 players who can play Center. In that regard, I’d say Aldridge and Blake wouldn’t receive a lot of minutes as a C even in international BB. Cousins, Drummond, Davis are more suited for that role. The rest can be filled with wings, forwards and specialists.

Only 12 players get named to Olympic rosters you don’t get 15.
    My team would be:
    PG Chris Paul/Kyrie Irving
    SG Steph Curry/Russell Westbrook
SF James Harden/ Klay Thompson/Paul George
    PF Lebron James/Kevin Durant/Blake Griffin
    C Anthony Davis/Demarcus Cousins

I would take Jimmy Servant or Kawhi Leonard over Derrick Enhanced. Every Olympic group it seems like they have a identify structured for an excellent border challenger and Butler/Leonard are the two best border defenders in the group right now IMO. Unblocked Games 2
