Philly is rebuilding with Noel, and Phoenix with Len. These have been the two teams we expected to pursue Bynum. What now? I thought someone would throwa max contract his way, but with these two teams out of the running, I’m doubting it. Maybe Dallas takes a shot if they miss out on Howard? What about Houston if they miss on Howard? I don’t think the risk is worth it for Houston while they have Asik. Portland? Do they risk paying another broken center?

I’v always thought Atlanta would be a good landing spot from him. After they miss out on Howard they are going to have a ton of money to spend and are willing to spend it. And if Bynum doesn’t stay healthy they can just slide Horford back over to the Center spot.

I thought about the Hawks, which being in Atlanta for 10+ years from South Florida, I am now a fan of, but I doubt Ferry takesa shot at Bynum, unless they’re sure he’s healthy. They took two great prospects in the Draft andi wouldn’t be surprised to see them continue building through the draft. If not the Howard/Paul combo, I doubt Ferry spends money foolishly.

I wonder if Philly might look to give him a short term deal or one weighted in the team’s favour as he could allow Noel to play at PF and with his bulk, Noel’s lack of weight is less of an issue.

I think a lot of teams will look at maybe giving him a one year deal as if he comes back and gets back to his All Star form then they would be in a great position to resign him in 2014 as they could offer him the biggest deal. But I do wonder would any team ever be brave enough to give Bynum say a 5 year near max deal even if he played say 75 games next season given his injury history.

Where i would like to see him go is to San Antonio, he could learn a lot from Tim Duncan, he will replace Splitter when someone over pays for him, and be there big of the future when Timmy hangs up the gym shoes. I know its not going to happen, but I think it would be smart for both sides.

Maybe they could tie him to Noel, three legged race style, and they’d have two good knees between them. Could they get a roster exemption for that?

My Dream Scenario: He takes the vet minimum and lands in OKC. Won’t happen, but would be sick. =P

I could see the Mavs & Mark Cuban giving him a one year contract with a team option if they miss out on Dwight.

If Dwight leaves does anyone else think the Lakers would try to sign him back? I think they would and Bynum would probably come back he doesn’t seem like someone who holds a grudge and would probably go back if they offered him the max or close to it.

Bynum is going to sign with whoever offers the most guaranteed money. There is no reason to believe he would sign off on some kind of make-good contract or discount deal. A lot of teams have money, and not all of them are glamorous markets. It is not just Dallas and Houston. Atlanta, Charlotte, Cleveland, Detroit, Milwaukee, New Orleans, Portland, and Utah have money. Minnesota could have money if Pekovic is given an offer they don’t match and Kirilenko signs elsewhere. San Antonio could have a lot of money available if Splitter signs elsewhere and Ginobili either retires or returns for significantly less. I would not be surprised if a team gives him multiple guaranteed years even with his history.

    Whereever Howard doesn’t land.

Atlanta, Dallas, and Houston are going to be taking some looks at Bynum if they miss-out on Dwight. Other than that, Bynum isn’t much of a hot commodity anymore. I doubt he gets a max contract with nobody really that interested.

I also can see a sign and trade deal with the Clippers for Jordan and future picks. Seeing him team up with Paul and Griffin would be nice to see. When he was a Laker, Kobe made him look good. So maybe Paul can make Bynum look good as well in Doc Rivers’ system?

A lot will depend where all the other frontcourt FA’s like Jefferson, Pekovic, Splitter, Josh Smith and Millsap land as teams will have money to spend and some will have to replace departing players.

Dallas is an interesting one if they threw a 1 year deal at him as it still gives them 2014 options.

Philly could take a year off from the NBA and form the most intimidating bowling-dancing hybrid league (freestyle salsa bowling?) known to western civilization, then come back in 2014 to a bunch of draft picks and the crazy youth movement that will follow.

    Portland Blazers 2013-2014

    Lillard/ McCollum
    Matthews/Crabbe
    Batum/ Barton/ Claver
    Aldridge/ Freeland
    Bynum/Leonard/ Whitey

If healthy all season I can see them making the playoffs. What do you guys think?

I think it would be funny if he went full circle back to the Lakers. I doubt it would ever happen but it would be pretty funny. I honestly don’t know what team he would go to.
