Twolvesfan4lifeParticipantThe best player to have is Irving for the Wolves however lets just think the Cavs take him #1. All the mock drafts are saying we should take Derrick Williams? NO!! that is so stupid why would we take a player who is the same position as Beasley with a nice backup in Webster. So i would like to see us trading this pick down to get Brandon Knight or Kemba Walker. I would much rather have Brandon Knight because he has more upside than kemba and is taller for the point guard spot. Since we have a Point Guard for the future we should trade Rubio’s rights since they are still worth something. I say trade him to the Clippers for our first round pick we lost in the Cassel trade, on a count of next years draft is loaded with talent. Then do whatever with the 20th pick whether its Jordan Hamilton, Tyler Honeycutt, or Singleton for some depth. So heres are starting 5.
PG- Brandon Knight
SG- Wes Johnson
SF- Michael Beasley
PF- Kevin Love
C- Anthony Randolph or Darko
If you look at the backcourt is going to improve from last year on a count of Wes Johnson’s hopeful development over the summer. Also, Brandon Knight is an upgrade from Ridnour adding athleticism and scoring. Although Ridnour makes a really good backup. I really hope the Wolves look to start Randolph at center with his ability to dribble up the court and create opportunities and his presense in the paint. Let me know your thoughts and your best case scenario for the wolves in the draft!!

boshjonesfordParticipantyou say "why would u take a player with the same position as Beasley"
then i could easily say " why would you take a player that plays the same position as Ricky Rubio"
they draft williamx because
Williams> Knight
Rubio > Bessley (potentally so u would rather replace Bessley)
then again they have wesley johnson another young SF but i guess they also have flynn so at the end of the day u probobly should go with williams or trade down

ghrghrParticipantIf they can’t get irving they should not get Williams. Knight will be picked top 5 IMO, so they could reach for him at 2. I have never seen Kanter play, but if what people say about him is true he could be a nice pick too. If Rubio comes over and plays well, Minnesota is set at positions 1-4 with young, pretty good players so they can draft Kanter this year, lose a few games and get a stud next year.
I’m not a big fan of Kevin Love, I think Minny could look to move him cause his stock is extremely high right now and he probably won’t resign with them anyway…

hooverballParticipantI agree, the timberwolves should take Kanter to pair with Love in the front court. That will give you a rebounding edge over virtually any team you play. With Darko off the bench to provide shot blocking behind them and Beasley in the mix that gives Min one of the deepest young talent pools in the front court. They will also have ?Rubio? but at least Ridnour and Flynn at PG. Future may be looking bright in Min. Watch for Kahn to reach on Kanter to go with the up-tempo international style he is attempting to assemble to plug Rubio into.

HotSnotParticipantRemember the Dwill/Chris Paul draft? Dwill always got the nod in most draft books because of his "prototypical" size for the PG position. Utah gave up a nice little package to ensure they could move up to get him. They were/are both great PG’s but would you really be unhappy with either one? On that note I really prefer Paul anyways… but thats like comparing exotic sports cars. You’d be lucky to get either one of them. Don’t mistake this post as me comparing Irving and Knight to Paul and Dwill… all I’m saying is the Height part of the equation is overhyped and overrated.

jdstormParticipantMinnesota need to drastically change their roster to try and make the playoffs this year or get close, as their UNPROTECTED pick goes to the clippers.
The main problem with their roster are, beasley and love are about as compatible as love and Jefferson. and while both are good players they’re games don’t fit well togeather as both are below average defensive players.
the biggest needs in minnesota are PG, SG and SF with kevin love doing a good job at PF and Advanced stats showing that darko is fine as a fifth starter, with minnesota actually being slightly better then their opponants at the C position over the course of the season.
Minnesota needs to consolidate their talent and trade for a top 5 SG. My pick Kevin martin
a package along the lines of beasley, randolph, flynn and ellington would help consolidate the talent level of the team. reducing a full roster to a stronger 9-10 man rotation.
this would also encourage Rubio to come over as Luke Ridnour has proven to be a willing and capable backup who will help younger PGs on his team.
A possible depth chart would be
Starters;PG Rubio SG Martin SF Williams PF Love C Milicic
Bench; PG Ridnour SG SF Johnson PF C pectrovic
with possibly another 1st rounder this year, and Caproom to trade for reserve defensive PF’s and SG’s

nateoak10ParticipantIf NBA players are going to europe why would he come here? So I think the best case would be dealing the pick for Granger and the Indy pick and taking someone like Jordan Hamilton

jdstormParticipantThe Twolves need Rubio to come as soon as possible so his rookie scale contract is still in effect, because if he stays in europe over a certain number of years it will be able to be renegotiated.
Also at this point Im sure there are lots of other teams who would trade a veteran starting PG for rubio, and the twolves have the space to absorb a some money based on whatever the restructured cap looks like.
So while rubio is a firm Plan A, there is also a viable plan B.
If the rockets can get to .500 with martin, a 6’6 center and Scola the twolves should be better with Love and darko as their frontcourt

Wavy BagelsParticipantHe needs to either bulk up to play C or come in as backup PF.

jdstormParticipantwhy wait for him to develop when he plays the same position as Kevin Love, who is somebody Minnesota wants to keep. when he is costing you games you can’t afford to lose this coming year, because THE CLIPPERS HAVE MINNESOTA’S UNPROTECTED FIRST ROUND PICK
Talent development should be secondary and delayed minnesota can get future picks back for randolph but they can’t afford to play him this year
Also Derrick williams and a TBD veteran F/C will be able to fill the reserve PF minutes as capably and will probably be better
