He was pulled over three weeks ago for driving 108 mph… That’s three off of the court incidents in less than two months. We all know about his most recent incident by now. He also had one back in October when he had a gun put up to his head at a club (is he even old enough to be at the club?).

Should the 76ers be concerned about this guy? I haven’t heard about any character concerns about him in the past, but these don’t look good being that it’s just his 1st year in the NBA.

I hope this guy isn’t another knuckle head. I know he’s young, but damn…

Okafor needs to make better decisions, but that team needs some actually veterans even if they have to overpay a couple of guys. Good veterans can be mentors on and off the court. If you look at things and rumors are true, this is the 2nd high profile guy that has come in recently and had issues.

Off subject, but I wonder what it would be like to show up every single night to know that your team not only has less talent than everyone else, but that your front office is pushing for you to lose.  This team isn’t trading to get you help, but might trade away someone that was helping you. If I was a top player in the upcoming draft, I would refuse to go there. 26 losses in a row in the NBA is ridiculous. You can catch a game just from someone playing down to the competition,  having an off night, or just by playing harder than them.

I guarantee you if social media was around during the 80’s and  90’s some of our all time greats would be viewed much differently. Not excusing the fighting incident but come on. The complete narrative around this guy coming into the draft is that he’s such a great kid great upbringing now he has one major incident and you wonder if he’s a knucklehead?? Embiid and Okafor’s personal immature is at least partly due to the lack of solid veteran leadership on the team. These young guys need older guys to teach them how to live life as an NBA player and compete. They do not have that.

Now you’re making more than your coach. Oh and you are the franchise. That’s before we get into all the free gifts, women, booze, and new relatives show up. People want a 19 year old with no corporate experience, likely no grooming, or significant education to show up and be 100% business and mistake free. It sounds great, but not realistic. There’s no reason to not put him in the best environment you provide as a team.

Embiid can teach him to be a Twitter All Star and where to find the best bloody marys. You need someone to let you know you are going to have to work and how to adjust to what you are about to experience. I’d guess Coach K would keep his players on a fairly tight reign but as said above Okafor is now being paid a big salary and has much more means than he did last season as a student.

Hopefully the 76ers will be able to keep Okafor on the straught and narrow as I’d hate to see him going off the rails with him having so much potential.

 Okafor is the last guy I would’ve thought to be doing all of this stuff.  I don’t doubt he was a choir boy at Duke where everyone worshipped the guy.  It is completely different once you leave a college campus and are being paid millions and not under the close watch and scrutiny of Coach K and his staff.  Okafor is coming off a national championship and was the number one ranked high school player in the country before then.  How many times has the guy been heckled in his life?  He’s only 19 and has a ton of growing up to do.  Don’t understand why the guy is out clubbing, ESPECIALLY in Boston.  He went from not losing much to being on the worst team in the NBA.  He hasn’t handled it well.  There is absolutely zero veteran leadership in the locker room to pull him aside and tell him to stop.  Imagine if he had KG.  I guarantee you his nonsense would stop immediately.  I hope he cleans his act up soon or his career could be in jeopardy.
