I responded to another thread about the Cavs pick, and decided to start another. I am in no means arguing that they take T-Rob, I am just asking how would you grade the Cavs pick if they took Thomas Robinson? Barnes is a much better fit, and so is Beals we will all agree, but assume Bobcats and Wizards took Barnes and Beal respectively. The Cavs will then most likey take MKG and we wouldnt blame them. But what if they took T-Rob? I havent watched a signle Cavs game last year, so I do not know how well Tristian Thompson looked and how much potential he has, but what I consistently hear on here is that he has potential to be a rebound/defensive specialists wit NO offensive game. Now, in the grand scheme of building an eventual champion ship team, a team needs some kind of consistent post scoring. In this day and age, it’s difficult to come across a center with an offensive game. I hear the same thing about MKG, potential on defensive and lack of offense. I would then be wary of pairing MKG with Thompson knowing how hard itll be to eventually get a cnter to pair with Thompson up front who can score. Defense wins championships, but offense helps a hell of a lot. Look at the Bulls. Great defensive team, but cannot compete with Rose as their only scorer and MKG most likely will not become the offensive player Deng is and the same with Thompson as Boozer. In the grand scheme of building a championship caliber team, you also need a talented big off the bench. My question again, would you scorn the Cavs for taking T-Rob? Imagine how perfect he and Irving will pair. Then Thompson as your 6th man big off the bench. Robinson and Verajo front court meshes well and with Jamison gone, you have Thompson. itll be a lot easier to eventually get a future Defensive center to pair with T-Rob, like Fab Melo? Melo, T-Rob, Thompson rotation and you are set with your bigs for the future. Wing players will come in future drafts and free agency. Does anyone know if T-Rob has worked out or plan to with the Cavs?

 It’s possible they may create a logjam, you can never rule out the possibility of a team selecting a player that is not needed.

i havent watch any cavs game and didnt saw any tristan thompson action, what would be his trade value?

I doubt the Cavs would do that….unless they believe he can efficiently play the 3

i proposal this possibility not long ago and got snub for this, but i still don’t see what the problem with Cavs drafting T-Robinson, it will be great value pick at #4, that will give the Cavs bigtime Dynamo on the team with the combination of Irving and T-Rob playing together aka great P&R play and unique outside-inside force as T-Rob has potential to be another go to guy… some emphasis that with Tristan Thompson it will be small frontcourt but both players are tough, rebound very well and play much bigger than their size and don’t forget today NBA, that Miami went to the Finals with Shane Battier and Haslem combo at the bigs.

I wouldnt start them together, Thompson will be the big off the bench. Championship teams need two type of 6 man. A guard who can score and a big the defends and rebounds. Ya he was taken #4 last year, if your not sure he’ll turn into a dominant player, and you think T-Rob will, you take T-Rob and Thompson is your big. If your argument is that he was taken too high to be a 6th man, thats foolish. he wasnt intended to be a 6th man, but I do not think he has shown the ability to be that go to big. MKG and Thompson, as great as a defensive combo they can be, their deficiency on offense will cripple this team. Again, this is if Barnes/Beal is gone and yo do not believe in MKG and Thompson’s offensive potential. And Im not saying will this be done, Im asking how would you grade their pick, A,B, C, D, F/+-

I wouldnt blame them for taking this approach. It will not create a log jam as Jamison is gone and Thompson will still get 30 minutes backing up the 4 and 5. He can even gaurd 3s, so their are PT playing the 3, for defense only.  Ask yourselfs these questions:

1) Will Irving and T-Rob be a dynamic combo?

2) Will Thompson and MKG forever be offensive liabilities?

If you say yes to these two questions, why not consider taking T-Rob

With that many talented player available why would you draft player when you have the position filled.  Thompson showed enough last year that he deserves more time and drafting Robinson would make him trade bait and a wasted picks last year unless they can get a first rounder for him.

^^^again, they could play together!!! stop with the prejudice!

and even if there is other talents T-Rob is much greater talant from them with superiority at potential! you can’t blindly go with needs and give up best player available.
