OldSkoolBasketballParticipantHe average 8.1 rebounds his rookie year and 8.6 last season. Now this year he is average 5.8 rebounds. He is averaging the same amount of rebounds as Dorell Wright. Getting outrebounded by Wade, Gay, Fields, Wilson Chandler, etc. They are not even centers or power forwards. I was trying to think of a center that averages about the same rebounds as Lopez and I thought there would be no one but it turns out Bargnani averages 5.7! He is even worst than Lopez wtf.

ilike.panochasParticipantI understand Bargani’s case for his low rebouding, because he is perimeter oriented C/PF he is less likely to go after offensive rebounds. Lopez’s case however baffles me, he is a true low post player, yet his rebounding results are unexplainable.

TyrekeJonesParticipantIt is definitely a concern, to have better rebounding numbers in his rookie and sophomore seasons then his third season in the NBA. His rebounding numbers should be getting better and improving or atleast staying at 8 or 9 per game especially considering the fact he is 7′, no way should be be getting less then 6 rebounds a game, and to add to that I believe he only has one or two double doubles for the season, that is just not right for someone with his height and skill.

royk927ParticipantHe wasn’t a great rebounder in college. But he did get better. I think its more mental with him as he should be dominating yet looks pretty average.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantBrook’s decrease in rebounding is puzzling..Becuz he was a solid rebounder the past 2 years..Last year he had 33 double doubles…..Only 1 this season..
Some suggest there are several reasons for his low numbers..
1.A new coach and a new system..
2.Humphies,Favors and Murphy are also aggressive rebounders and thats taking away his confidence..
3.Some say he gets boxed out by 2 players and need to hit the weight room to add strength…So he can burst thru there and grab the board..
4.Some say he doesnt get in there and use his body to fight for the possession and retreat to the other end without mixing it up..

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantHis offensive rebounding numbers are still solid. The team is rebounding better than it was last year, and a big part of that is Kris Humphries and Derrick Favors being better than Yi. It really isn’t that big of a deal unless all you care about it your fantasy team.

meisi4Participanti guess he never was a real good rebounder and that shows this season… but i think he will regain a bit better rebounding numbers i think he is like a seven rebounds a game guy in my opinion…

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantThe job has to get done. The Celtics won when Perkins wasn’t dominating the glass. Andrew Bynum isn’t asked to be the only rebounder for the Lakers. The Bulls first three peat was never with a dominant rebounder, and when Rodman was flaking out the Bulls while he was there the team still had no problem on the glass. The Heat get the job done on the glass, and it isn’t one guy. If Favors and Humphries are chasing down the defensive rebounds as opposed to Lopez, it isn’t a big deal.

bkballerParticipantBTPH something tells me you’re a Nets fan… what is the job that gets done that you speak of? The fact that the Nets have like a 30% win percentage the three years he has been their starting center? The fact that they got outrebounded an NBA record 20 something games in a row last season? What the hell is the point of having a 7 footer if his speciality is hitting 12 foot jumpers and getting 5 boards per game. The ONE and ONLY double double that he got in A DOUBLE OVERTIME game this season may single handedly be the most pathetic NBA stat for a starting "franchise" center ever.

bkballerParticipantThen I see you post comments like Amar’e isn’t a star because he is an awful rebounder… you have a problem with a PF getting 9 rebounds a game, but 5.8 for your center "gets the job done". The only jobs it has done, is get Humphries a nice fat extension this summer that he absolutely wont deserve and make Favors seem like he is actually contributing out there.

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantI’m not a Nets fan at all. The question was "what happened to Brook Lopez rebounding?" The Nets are a better rebounding team this year than last, and that is because Kris Humphries and Derrick Favors are better rebounders than last year’s power forwards. They are on the floor and getting rebounds, some that would have otherwise gone to the other team and some that would otherwise go to Lopez. So long as the job is getting done, it really is only a concern of a fantasy number what the actual numbers are. Marc Gasol’s rebounding numbers are down. The Grizzlies are still getting 20 rebounds per game out of Randolph and Gasol, so am I supposed to believe that Gasol isn’t trying as hard this year or somehow worse? No. Same with Brook Lopez.

Snubs15ParticipantIts definitely becasue of Kris humphries. the guy boxes out his own teamates to get the rebound lol. But yeh if your 7’0 and 260lbs you should definitely be grabbing more than 5.8 boards a game. no excuses, lopez is obviously just not a great rebounder at this point in his careeer.

bkballerParticipantHow can you not see an issue with a 7 foot center pulling down 6 rebounds per 36 minutes….Including 4.7 rebounds per game in the month of January.
If his team was winning, maybe his rebounding could be overlooked, but they have won 26 of their last 128 games.

SteroidParticipantLopez was never a good rebounding big. I’ve always said this even before this season. It doesn’t even make sense..
