Without Bosh on their roster, it seems like Bargnani is going to their main guy…..

I don’t think they will win more than 25 games….

Well they need to become an up tempo team or they will just get the doors blown off nightly. If they can get a solid young point guard and convince Bargnani to play well on a consistent basis they could do ok. Not Playoffs, but not this years Nets either.
DeRozan has put in a good deal of work this summer from what ive seen so he could put up decent scoring numbers.
Ed Davis is a pretty good rebounder and shot blocker and Alabi was a steal at 50 IMO. They could have done worse.
Pretty much the whole season hinges on which Bargnani decides to show up this year.

They would be better off being the 2011 Nets than another mediocre lottery type season.

Derozan could be good, but I see a top 5 pick in this teams future.

Focus on Demar, make Bargnani the second guy.

Trade Calderon to pacers for Tj ford and a pick

Tj ford and DeRozan might be the fastest back court in the leage

turkoglu was struggling last year. And the raps were injured a lot but jack and weems form a solid backcourt and Derozan may be a star in the making. even without bosh, they can make the playoffs.

    Raps homer

When you are talking about Turk, Jack and Weems as your starters and Derozan is your star….Then you said playoffs

They couldn’t even make the playoffs with Bosh…

The Raptors will probably try and aquire a new big man. Jefferson or Lee are available. Calderon and Turkoglu aren’t ideal and will get looked into getting shipped off. DeDe, Bargnani, Davis will be the new core of this team. Can’t imagine this team not going through a tough next season.

They need to move Bargnani from the centre position and have him play power forward. The only problem is they don’t have a guy on their roster right now who can start at centre. Amir Johnson and Ed Davis are also power forwards. They also need to trade Calderon ASAP, and Turkoglu as well. I think this season they should use it to develop DeRozan, make him one of the vocal points of the offense. This is going to be a LONG, ROUGH year but if we can get a good draft pick next season (Harrison Barnes, Perry Jones) you just start from scratch. Raptors won’t be down for long.

all this talk of shipping hedo but NOONE is going to go near him… not after his butt cheek season and one of the worst contracts ive seen in years… thanks BC.
but ye kanye, superstars are allergic to toronto, so i can never see the raps getting out of the lottery to 8th seed playoff sort of area.

I disagree with Omar and Kanye. T-Mac would have stayed had he not been treated so poorly by Butch Carter, as well he felt disrepected because he thought the Raptors were planning on building around him, but when VC came they instantly turned the team over to him. VC left because he was a baby. The team was built around him (and was pretty good) but he did not have the drive to be a superstar, ask Nets fans if I am lying. Chris Bosh does not care about basketball, he wants to be in a big city where he can market himself. Even Damon Stoudemire has gone on record as saying he was young and full of himself when he asked out of Toronto, and if he could do it over, would have stayed. Toronto has just had the bad luck of getting some really immature superstars.

Heres the problem, the raptors play in canada, that is a major disadvantage, canadian fans dont care about bball, they love hockey,no FA wants to go & live in canada, & any star they get wants to leave. The best thing for the franchise would be to relocate to an American city, who would inbraise them, maybe Vegas,KC,San Diego,Baltimore,Cinnci. Just a thought the league may have to switch a team east to west or west to east to make it work. But thats my pitch, sorry canadakush!

“What do the Raptors plan on doing next season? Without Bosh on their roster, it seems like Bargnani is going to their main guy…..

They are going to be bad, but it just depends about the level of bad. Do they get a trade exception for Bosh? Can they throw in Calderon or Hedo into a sign-and-trade with Bosh? If not, can they pawn them off for expiring deals? It will probably go a long way to see whether they are battling for the top pick or just at a regular level of mediocrity.

I don’t particularly like what they have as keepers. DeRozan needs to learn to shoot before he matters at all. Bargnani isn’t a bad player, but he isn’t a $50 million player. Amir Johnson isn’t a $34 million player. Jack is an expensive backup point. Alabi wasn’t a bad gamble for a 2nd round pick, but he isn’t going to help for a while. Davis might work out, but his lack of bulk isn’t going to mesh well with Bargnani’s softness. It is just a framework for failure.
