Im a Michigan Native and have been for my 17 years of life. I live and die with the Pistons and just looking at their roster, outside of Rodney Stuckey I dont see any All Star potential in their young guys. Personally I think they missed out on picking up Amare at the deadline and would be mistaken if they thought their problems down low would be solved by picking up Boozer. They have the 15th pick and I think they should take BJ Mullins with it if they do decide to sign Boozer but thats just me. I really think its going to be a while before they get back to a 500 record let alone an Eastern Conference Championship. Let Me Know what everyone thinks Dumars and the Pistons should do this offseason.

You’re from Michigan and you want to draft an Ohio State kid. Shame shame. I don’t think they should draft a big man because they’re a rare find. All the good big man of the draft, in my opinion, will be taken in the first 6 picks. I think they should try and draft well and see where they pan out. Carlos Boozer won’t solve our problems. Either will Chris Bosh. Maybe the both of them but that’s not going to happen. Amar’e would have been a wonderful pickup and I think we can still get em but I don’t think Joe should make too many moves this offseason. Wait till 2010.

And I agree with 95% of that BJ Mullens post. Drafting any Ohio State kid is a terrible life decision, and great big men are definitely found in the top 5 picks, not the top 20.

However, I do think the Pistons need to make some moves now and not wait another year. I can’t take a year like this past one.

BJ Mullens makes sense, while i agree the high quality big men are gone early this year, they really need a center who isnt kwame.Although if they could find a decent wing pick this year and get one of the plethora of good big men next year that would be a real boost.

Here is my 5-point plan to save the Pistons (or at least to keep them afloat next season)

1. Re-sign Rasheed Wallace
Yeah I said it. But if the Pistons don’t re-sign him, he will sign with the Cavs and haunt us all season long, and if he doesn’t come back, the starting frontcourt is Kwame Brown and Amir Johnson. Straight up, there is no big man that can stretch defenses like ‘Sheed, and he is our best 3-point shooter. He needs to be re-upped or else the Pistons will see him shine elsewhere, and he may well take a young, rising team to the conference finals like another former Piston did this past year…

2. Sign Carlos Boozer
Some have said that we won’t have the money to sign Boozer if Wallace comes back, but we have plenty of money to throw around this summer. If Boozer can be signed, then the Pistons have a dominant and bruising frontcourt (contrary to if these first two points are not fulfilled…) Anyone who thinks the Pistons should just wait until 2010 to sign Chris Bosh is an idiot – there is NO WAY Dumars is going to tank next season so they can get a coveted big man who wants LeBron-like money.

3. Move up to the 6, 7, or 8 spot in the draft and acquire Stephen Curry
The Pistons have no pure shooters, and Curry is one of the few rookies who will be able to step onto the court for them and contribute immediately. By exchanging picks and throwing in a second-rounder (we have three) along with Jason Maxiell, the Pistons can pick up the deadly shooter that they so desperately need. Maxiell has reached his ceiling. Let’s face it: he can’t do much better at his size.

4. Pick up Trevor Ariza with the MLE
He’s freakishly athletic and can bring a lot of energy off the bench – imagine what he and Bynum could do to invigorate the Palace crowd in the otherwise-lackluster third quarter? Most teams won’t be willing to use their entire mid-level exception on him (including the Lakers), so why not try him out for a year or two?

5. Trade Kwame Brown, Amir Johnson, and cash to the Clippers for Marcus Camby
I don’t know how much Camby will like coming off the bench, but if he can take to his new role, our bench will become the longest and most athletic the league has seen since our ’04 bench of Hunter, Delk, Williamson and Okur. Besides, if Camby doesn’t work out, he only has one year left on his contract, so we will have more cap space for everyone’s coveted class of 2010. (Think the Clips won’t do this trade? They need to free up space for Blake Griffin, so they will gladly pick up some size to sit on the pine).

With this, the Pistons lineup looks something like this:
C – Rasheed Wallace/Marcus Camby
F – Carlos Boozer/Trevor Ariza/Dante Cunningham (39th pick)
F – Tayshaun Prince/Walter Hermann
G – Rip Hamilton/Stephen Curry/Arron Afflalo
G – Rodney Stuckey/Will Bynum

*So many of these guys can play multiple positions that the lineups can be mixed and matched to play to each one’s strengths. Any Pistons fan knows that Michael Curry will juggle his lineup a thousand times throughout the season to find the best combination, but I think that Ariza can hold his own at the 4 as long as he has a lot of size beside him at the 5 (same goes for Curry playing the 2).

If the draft goes how most are saying we are left with Earl Clark. I say we get em. Tay really doesn’t have a backup and if Tay ever leaves and we give Earl Clark time to get the NBA down, we will be alright I think. Any pick is a risk this year but I think that is the way to go. I mean the kid is 6″10, 226. He can bulk up and he definitely has some moves.

I also think whoever gets Derrick Brown is getting a steal. I wish the Pistons had a late 1st round pick to get him cuz he can guard anyone.

> First draft someone who has potential. Are draft picks over the years have been stinkish. Darko, we could of got Wade, Melo, Bosh. We stunk up that draft. Then last years draft. Stuckey, and afflalo. Face it I don’t believe Stuckey will be a All Star. I don’t think he has great potential either. All he can be is a starter for a bad team and a bench player for a good team. Then Afflalo, he makes a living on ‘D’ and clutch 3’s from the corner. So we can’t have a bad pick this year if we do the Pistons will not make it to the Playoffs. And everyone who wants us to trade up is stupid. There is no way we are going to trade up to the 6, 7or 8 spot bigman. So we need to get a good pick at 15. No BJ Mullens. I say the best players are going to be James Johnson & Earl Clark. Pick James Johnson.

>Then trade we need a shake up. We ahve not had one in a while. (I am not counting the AI Billups trade that was just plain stupid) I say we get a Jamal Crawford or Caron Butler. I would go with Jamal Crawford for Offense and Caron For Defense. I would take Caron Butler. He can score and play ‘D’. Caron Butler for Jason Maxiell, Second round pick, and Rasheed. Hmmmmmm. does that work.

> Last, Second Round Picks Dante Cunningham, Demarre Carroll, John Bryant, in that order. All of those guys can be good in the NBA they all have potential. No one wants us to draft John Bryant well I say we do.
