tblazer_NZParticipantPer ESPN
Dwyane Wade informed the Heat on Thursday that he will accept their one-year offer to re-sign for $20 million for next season, ending a weeks-long saga between Miami and its franchise player.
Thoughts on this?

EndlessknightParticipantI might be wrong but I think he’s taking a big risk given his age and injury history.

llperezGood for the heat. They had to keep him but were understandably worried about his age/health. They come out on top in this scenario. If Wade contiues to breakdown, hell maybe never get another chance at a final long term deal.

BasketballGuru24ParticipantWade needed to secure a long term deal this summer. He’ll be turning 34 half way through the season, and it’s hard to see a team offer him anything longer than a 3 year contract next season, not to mention i don’t see a team giving him 20 mill a year again.

Sewok15ParticipantHe will have made over 150 million for his career after this season…add on endorsements and I am sure he has pulled in over 200 million. I wouldn’t be too worried if he only plays for 5 million a year for the last few years of his career…even if his ex-wife took half his money he will be able to live fairly comfortably.

bobbybParticipantWIN WIN situation
Great For Wade Cause it is 20 Million Bucks
Even Better fot the Heat because it is a 1 year deal. That means Wade is going to have to go above and beyond to prove he is still a superstar in this league.

omphalosParticipantIt also means they retain flexibility to pursue big name free agents next season.
Wade gets his ego stroked, the Heat get to make a run with a really potent starting lineup, plus if Winslow shows promise as a replacement for Wade it gives the Heat leverage on a new contract next season.

TarHeelRavenParticipantYikes….Wade is nowhere close to being worth 20 mil at this point in his career. It’s smart obviously to only have a one year deal for the Heat. If he has another injury plagued season, I don’t really see the Heat throwing anymore money at him. He’s well past his prime and I figure the 20 mil is for what Wade has done for the Heat in the past ala Kobe and his beyond ridiculous 25 million dollar salary for the Lakers next season.

bobbybParticipantWade on one foot is better than half of the 2 guards in the league……Name one 2 guard in the East that is definitely better than Wade??? I can’t think of any.

Mr. HookShotParticipantThe thing with Wade is: if he plays, he easily is worth $20 million per year. However, he will not be worth that in 2 or 3 years so the Heat getting him on a one year deal is great for them.
With Wade having the summer off I expect a (more) healthy season from him, and together with Bosh and Dragic they have a dangerous team. The Heat will have the room to add additional talent next year before resigning Wade, and Wade has time to build up a bit of value, considering no (winning) team in the league would have given him more than $40 million over 3 years (which he will get if he signs a 2year $20 million deal next year).
