benny15Participant1. Best C right now: Marc Gasol
2. Best C in 5 years: Andre Drummond
3. Most Underated: Timothy Mozgov. honestly believe this guy has got to be dealt and be a starter somewhere. definitely starter quality to me and a solid 2 way center
4. Most Overated: Andre Drummond. he’s a great center prospect and could very well be the best in 5 over Cousins. his stats are great in fantasy but the recognition he’s been getting because of it is too much given the lapses in his game currently. he’s only regarded as overtaed IMO since he’s being tagged as a top center in the league already when he’s not yet there.
5. Best Young Center: Drummond. he may be overated to me, but i still recognize him as the top center prospect with what he can do now based on physical attributes alone. if in 5 years he develops an offensive game and refines his defensive technique, he’ll be more of a beast than what he is now.
6. Best Rookie C: Jusuf Nurkic. not really counting joel since im expecting his official rookie year to be next year. id very curious to see if mitch mcgary gets more minutes than nurkic and would prove me wrong as the season goes on.
7. Most Athletic: Drummond
8. Most skilled: Marc Gasol. almost placed cousins here but i think Marc has more defensive skills than Boogie so gave him the over-all nod. noah also made it a close call but i like Marc’s post offensive repertoire more.
9. Best Leader: Joakim Noah. only competition he would have from this title is if Duncan was considered a center.
10. Top Two All-Time: Kareem Abdul-Jabar and Hakeem Olajowon. Wilt and Shaq may have been stronger offensive monstors than the dream and on par with Jabar, but werent the same defenders. Russel was as good if not a better defender than Olajowon, but wasnt as smoth of a scorer. he may be the best winner of all time and a great leader, but jabar and the dream definitly had the best over-all games to me.
11. Favorite Current C: Joakim Noah. not even close here. ill give Marc Gasol his props as the best center in the league, but Noah is the guy im most in admiration with the way he plays the game.

joecheck88Participant1) Dwight Howard – his combination of defense and he still draws double teams at times. Would be Noah if had an offensive game. Would be Cousins if he had a defensive game.
2) Andre Drummond – Defensive C’s mean more today than one with offense. His defense with his O rebounds and athleticism make him great.
3) Marcin Gortat – probably make the overrated list in a few years with his contract but dude can play and is tough.
4) Roy Hibbert – probably not real fair but he’s a great D C. Not a top C though.
5) Andre Drummond
6) Joel Embiid – He’s the best would be C whether he plays or not this year.
7) Deandre Jordan – Drummond close but still seems a little less fluid. Probably still working on using his gifts with his size.
8) Marc Gasol – Great combo of everything. Too bad he doesn’t have Drummond athletic ability
9) Joakim Noah- Used to hate him but he leads by example and vocally. He’s awesome. Plays the right way to me.
10) Hakeem and Shaq – not a huge Kareem fan and Bill and Wilt from different time.

GrandmamaParticipantHakeem and Shaq – not a huge Kareem fan and Bill and Wilt from different time.
I absolutely hate when people bring this into a conversation regarding who is better than who. It was obviously a different game back then. I get that. But basketball is like any other aspect of life, everything evolves and changes. Not only has the sport changed, but athletes today are bigger and more athletic than people back then. Evolution. Food quality is better, medicine has changed, athletes train more nowadays, coaching is much more refined today, players play all year round with AAU. All of this goes into the game changing over time.
You have to look at how players did against their competition at the time they played. That’s really the only fair way to judge who is better than who. Who dominated their competition more? It’s just like the Babe Ruth argument. If you plucked Babe Ruth out of the 20’s and put him in the Yankees lineup today, would he be that great? Probably not. But he’s still one of the 5 greatest baseball players ever. So to judge someone differently b/c they played in a different era is totally unfair. You have to judge them solely on how they played against their competition.
Another thing to consider is, how would Wilt or Russell look today if they grew up in this era. Think if Wilt had played AAU, played basketball all year round, hit the weights harder, had the coaching all these other players would have had. Do you understand how good he would be?
So, like I said, comparing players without taking era into consideration is completely ignorant. Judge them how they played against their competition. The game has evolved. In 50 years, the game will look different than it does today. I’m sure players will be even bigger and more athletic. Evolution my friend. Don’t be narrow-minded.

BigChamp12ParticipantI don’t know if it is too late to change my vote or not. But I completely forgot about DeMarcus Cousins this morning.
Best C in 5 years… I definitely think it will be Cousins… He’s top 3 right now and only getting better.
Most skilled C…. No knock on Marc Gasol, but Cousins is more talented and skilled than Marc. I don’t think there’s a Center in the league that even comes close to his skillset.

Hector_Reyes_8Participant1. Gasol – He’s a game changer. He can beat you with his passing, his defense is great, his shot is great, he’s a great player and he’s also underrated.
2. Drummond. He is already a beast on the boards, he can easily be the best Center in the game soon. As long as he doesn’t jump on pump fakes, he will be the next Dwight. If he can develop a consistent hook, he’ll be better than Dwight.
3. Jefferson. He should have made the All Star team. He’s the best scoring big from the block, and his team will probably be a Top 4 in the East.
4. DeAndre. He’s a beast on the boards, but that’s it. He’s brutally overpaid and has no room for improvement anymore. All he’ll be is a big with amazing insticts, and nothing else. He’s a negative on offense on any team without passers like Paul and Griffin.
5. Val. He counts, right? Well, he’s a great Pick-and-Roll guy, great ft shooter, and he really rebounded well in the playoffs. Excited with what he can do with more bulk.
6. Urm… Not Embiid cuz he’s injured.
7. 4
8. 1
9. Noah. He can lead a team on both ends of the court.
10. Hakeem and Kareem. Look out for anyone named "-eem". All time great at the end of their career.
11. Joakim Noah.

doubledribblerParticipantI would put up a list, but it will get flagged as spam and I will get mad, but Shaq is the most interesting name I keep seeing. I don’t think he was top 2 all time. By the same token, Shaq is one of the guys that I look at that if he handled his business he should have probably retired as the greatest player ever. He relied too much on his strength, didn’t focus on conditioning and wasn’t as great on the boards and as a defender as he should have been. Of course, still an all time great. He is one of those guys you say what if, despite how great he actually was.

KayjayParticipant1. Best C right now? Howard – Impacts in points, rebounds, blocks shots. Not many teams/players can say they knocked LeBron out of the playoffs. Howard did, and that to me is tough to do.
2. Best C in 5 years? Cousins – I full well expect him to take a big step after being a part of this USA team. And I don’t think he’ll ever look back. If Carmelo was 6’11" with out a three point shot, that is how he’d play.
3. Most Underrated? Cousins – His numbers increase every year along with his maturity. As well as his defensive impact.
4. Most Overrated? Roy Hibbert – Lol c’mon man. The only all star with ten points and six rebounds a game on a 43% shooting percentage.
5. Best Young C (2 yrs or less exp. in league)? Drummond
6. Best Rookie C? Embid
7. Most Athletic? Deandre Jordan
8. Most Skilled? Cousins – Center with the skill set of a guard.
9. Best Leader? Noah – Leader in the lockeroom, leader on the floor.
10. Top Two All-Time? Shaq & Wilt Chamberlin – Straight domination.
11. Favorite Current C? Marc Gasol – Two way player with court vision.

Status QuoParticipant1. Best C right now? Noah, not the most talented but I wouldn’t pick another center if I was building a team. Will go to war every game no matter if its a meaningless game in Nov. or Game 7 of the playoffs. His effort, intangibles and intensity are unmatched at his position.
2. Best C in 5 years? Cousins, too talented, has an chip on his shoulder, very skilled and only getting better.
3. Most Underrated? Jefferson, if he would have been healthy most of his career, he’s a multiple time all-star.
4. Most Overrated? Hibbert/Lopez, 7 footers who get outrebounded by guards on their own team are overrated to me.
5. Best Young C (2 yrs or less exp. in league)? Drummond, can’t say Cousins, so Drummond is next in line. He has a lot of things to work on, on both sides of the ball but he there is alot to work with already.
6. Best Rookie C? Noel, we most likely won’t see Embiid.
7. Most Athletic? D. Jordan, great athlete, finding a defensive niche with Doc Rivers.
8. Most Skilled? M. Gasol, total package type center, great passer, rebounder, defender and skilled scorer. Look for Cousins to replace him in a few years, if not this year.
9. Best Leader? Noah, teammates love him, plays hard, leads by example and has shown a love for the city of Chicago only matched by players who grew up there.
10. Top Two All-Time? (Love this debate, so many names) Abdul-Jabbar, Bill Russell, not based on dominance because Shaq and Wilt would be the choice, they both won championships and were high skilled players.
11. Favorite Current C? Noah, I’m a Bulls fan and number 1 and number 9.
