Lotto StudParticipantI still feel as if Victor Oladipo will become the better version of what we all had expected out of Eric Gordon prior to those nagging injuries.
I would like to know is it just me who happens to see this within Oladipo’s game?
Coming out of Indiana, over 95% of us viewed him as an elite athlete prospect with above-average on-ball defensive skill and nothing more to the point of putting the ball on the floor to the extent of expanding his game for point guard skill.
Fast forward some more. As the catch-phrase goes…Hard work beats talent when talent does not work hard. Victor Oladipo is by far the definition of talent working hard to defeat the odds of being labled.
For those who really love Eric Gordon from the prep ranks to the pros, I would love to view your take the most on Oladipo for comparison to surpass Gordon.

sheltwon3ParticipantEric Gordon has been hurt. Oladipo is a better defender but he does nto have Gordon’s range and shooting ability.

Lotto StudParticipantAll it takes is a little bit of hard work and dedication in which he has put on display already with playing the 1. If Michael Kidd-Gilchrist "can" get right, anything is possible.
Most of the elite dunkers we loved from the past were not always the knockdown shooters they presented themselves to be once the athleticism left.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantOladipo is already a better all-around player than Gordon ever was. Not quite the shooter, but basically better everywhere else. I think Wade is a better comparison for how good oladipo could be if he reaches his ceiling. I’m not necessarily saying he will be as good as Wade, but the potential is there and the skill-set at the same age is similar.

Lotto StudParticipantI respect your stand for the Wade reference but I were being modest in approach. I see often that "we" compare up & coming guy’s ceilings too high, rather than compare and contrast them to those who are/were similar at the same stage.
I would rather see how well one (Oladipo) does against someone in comparison who were destined for the same star power but has yet to reach that ceiling.

timinator1Participantunfortunately, some guys just can’t shoot. they can try and try, but it’s not their bag. For every JKidd (who couldn’t shoot from distance when he got into the league, but became a very good shooter), there’s 5 Shawn Marions (the form on his jump shot still gives me nightmares). Oladipo right now just can’t shoot. So the Magic drafting Super Mario better work, so Oladipo and Payton can continue getting to the rim.

I like to use that as my knockout punch for fueling guys such as Ricky Rubio, who many are not high on for a turnaround later on in their career.

CoachWyersParticipantBiggest flaw with this comparison is Gordon came out as a shooter, Oladipo can’t shoot. And Oladipo came out of more of a defender and Gordon is not a good defender.
