cavairo7ParticipantIf the Clippers were to fire Vinny Del Negro, could Chauncey Billups be the coach? I feel like he could/would do such a much better job and since he is a veteran and former champ the players would take him seriously and listen. Now im not sure if he could because he’s on a player’s contract but Bob Cousy did the opposite as he went from being the coach of the Royals to being a player in the same season. Why couldn’t Chauncey do the opposite?

ChrisCrossParticipantuhm, he’s never coached before at all, much less be a head coach for an nba team. You don’t just become a head coach

cavairo7Participant^ Mark Jackson, Larry Bird, haha Vinny Del Negro they all became NBA head coaches without having any "coaching experience".

Charlie SheenParticipantnot to the OP but to the guy who suggested Phil Jackson
he’d be seriously pissed to deal with Blake and Deandre 2 bigs with no skill who are just highlight reel monkeys.
Griffin cant hit a jumpert so the triangle is a no-no he has no post game and works off pick n rolls which any smart defensive coach would just double the ball handler and zone up, bump Blake as he rolls and get back to your man

raybeasParticipantand went to the Finals. He had a .687 win percentage and won over 60% of his playoff games. What part of that is "not very good"?

BasterdInABasketParticipantWhat about Sam Cassell as coach. Id rather have him over Del Negro and Chauncey just wont happen.

ChrisCrossParticipantWell, that trio as whole is not very good, Bird was good, but he did take over the Pacers when they already were good

TheArtistPaysthePriceParticipantconvince a GM he can coach. Chicago hired him out of nowhere probably because he was cheap. Then somehow the brillant brain trust of the Clippers thought it would be a good idea.
He must have some dirt on these teams, it has to be some sort of black mail? Then again the Warriors hired Mark Jackson.

TyroberParticipantWhy not just get Stan Van Gundy and let Billups be the 2 guard again?

bballjunkie09Participant@Charlie Sheen whoa there buddy. my suggesstion of Phil Jackson to the Clippers was clearly just a joke no need to take it seriously and express the negatives of him coaching there when we all know this will never happen lolololol.

Raef LaFrentzParticipantBillups the player > Billups the coach.
At least at this age.
