Came across an interesting article on tsn and their comparison of Jonas’ rookie stats compared to the rookie stats of some of the top centers in the nba today.

It is safe to say big men take more time to develop as compared to guards and forwards. Too see numbers like these for me is very encouraging and I can see more offensive potential than the centers above as someone who’s watched this guy since day 1. He is already a solid 74% free throw shooter, has shown ability to hit the mid range and has put on display his strength in the post on occasion against top c/pf in the nba. His defense is certainly not the weak facet of his game. With his length and surprising athleticism, he can block shots and change shots and as he understands the nba game he will be able to become a defensive threat in the nba.

As a raptors fan I was concerned with how his game would translate to the nba and I have been pleasantly surprised as he fits right in. Big off-season for him to get stronger like many rookies and im really excited to see hiim next year.

Even if he doesn’t improve much offensively, I think he will be a monster on the boards and solid defensively. Bright future!

Plenty of talent. This guy should work out. However, the raptors are one of the worst run franchises in the league. This is a team that plays Bargnani, gave DeRoze a big contract and then traded for Rudy Gay and his max contract. Bargnani is one of the worst players in the league. DeRozen is getting better and but still is not a legit starting SG. Gay is simply mediocre and now in his 8th year in the league it is silly to talk about him achieving his potential. And he says that the Grizzlies never gave him a chance?!?!? Seven seasons, most of which he started, plus a max contract and he thinks the Franchise didn’t give him a chance?

Oh and they sit Amir Johnson for years. They trade Ed Davis as some sort of throw away. Like the Grizzlies needed anything else back besides “Take the Gay Contract”. But they also get someone who can play.

At the GM and Owner level, the franchise is hopeless. I doubt they will have the ability to develop talent, even though you can see the numbers Jonas is putting up.

Ive seen him play only a few times this season but have been impressed with his potential.

The three guys mentioned with him in the opening post – I believe he can have similar success in the NBA as these three…..

Right now his defensive advanced stats are horrendous bad. Will it get better with time? I think some but not that much. So comparing him with Tyson, Hibbert and Noah is ridiculous because these guys are defensive monsters and that ceiling is out of his reach. I believe because of his defense (contact allergy, slow lateral movement, lack of lower body strength, slow reactions) he has to be very capable on offense to make a dent.

…. for the future: Valanciunas and Drummond (provided he is healthy). The european is more skilled, now, Andre has the upper ceiling, imho.
