Am I the only one thinking the Jazz screwed up by giving up their #35 pick in a really deep strong draft for a pick that most likely will be after #45 in a much more shallow and weak draft 2016?

I get that they didn’t want to start the season with too many young players, but I believe they could have either gotten more for that pick or could used it to stash a player overseas for the future.

I thought Stokes was a really good pick, but also understand the Jazz have PF pretty well covered. So I assume they made the pick for (can’t remember who they traded him to). You’re right though, pick 35 in a deep draft like this one is much better tah what they’ll get back. It was a curious trade to me.

Disagree. Sure I thought that Stokes was a good pick, and I think he could be the next Paul Millsap. I was very happy when the Jazz selected him, and then I was dissapointed when the Jazz traded him to the Grizzlies for a future 2016 pick. But you know what, the Jazz had a lot of picks in this draft. They really only needed two, they didn’t need a third. Yeah, sure a third is nice but not necessary this coming season. I’m absolutely sure both Exum and Hood will be an important part on the Jazz team this year. As a matter of fact, I think the Jazz can make the playoffs as a 7 or 8 seed this year! And I think it will be because of the play of Exum and Hood. Stokes will also be an important part, yeah its unfortate that that impact wont come with the Jazz, but that doesn’t mean the trade was bad. 2016 is a not a weak draft. I’ve heard a lot about that draft. Yeah I admit, its probably not as deep as this year. But its certainly not going to be a weak draft. I sure hope it won’t be as weak as the 2013 draft was thought to be (And is still regarded as a weak draft). I’m sure a bunch of player will declare in 2016, and there will be some player that year who falls to the second round, and the Jazz will select him with their pick from the Grizzlies, and they will be getting a very important piece.

Because the Jazz only really needed two picks this year, but instead got 3, that third pick was all about the future, not the here and now. That pick will come to realization later on and be a good pick in 2016. The future is just as important as the present. I want this team to not only make the playoffs this coming season as a 7 or 8 seed, but I want them to look promising, and then make the playoffs every succeeding year after and improve their seeding. And I expect them to do so. That second round decision will be an important part of this team later on down the road. Just you watch.

The Jazz just didn’t want anymore rookies, the two they have was all they wanted, the Jazz are so young, it’s crazy, Hayward is 24, Evans is 26 and they are the oldest players on the team. Exum  is 18, Burke is 21, Hood is 21, Burks , Favors, Kanter and Gobert are 22, that is 9 players and the players with non guarenteed contracts are Clark 23, Garrett 25, Thomas 25, Murphy 23, those 4 have very little experience and may or may not make the team. I think the Jazz want to get a couple of vets to help in the locker room and with mentoring. The Jazz don’t get Memphis’s 2016 pick they get a pick from Memphis that Memphis owns but it is the best of the 2nd round picks of Boston or Toronto.

The Griz don’thave thier own pick that year but they do have Boston and Toronto’s.  The Jazz get the better of the two that year, so it could be about he same range.
