On ESPN Mock Draft some of the times it said that the Jazz were going to select Kemba if he wasn’t drafted yet. i could see the Jazz drafting Brandon Knight but not Kemba, but i can always be wrong. What do you guys think

ESPN (Chad Ford) has only come out with 1 mock this year, and he had them taking Knight. They’ve never to my knowledge had the Jazz taking Kemba. Utah’s biggest needs are shooting and maybe a true center, but there won’t be any ace shooting wings worth taking with the 6th pick…versatile guys like Vesely, but no shooters. Devin Harris is still a decent PG so if they were to target another PG he would have to be special, and even though he’s a pretty pure point, Knight can play both guard positions, meaning he would be a safer pick than Kemba, who’s pigeonholed as a PG. I don’t think Kemba is worth it considering the holes they have in the middle of the lineup, but Knight, who’s still a teenager and has a really high ceiling, could be worth a top 6 pick.

Ford has come out with two Mocks 1.0 and 1.1 and both times he has them taking Knight.  I don’t feel they’ll end up with the #6 pick, well have a much better picture Tuesday night.

I agree with Joe Wolf. Wouldnt be surprised in any way if the Jazz get a Top 3 pick, especially if these drafts are fixed like must of us assume. The NBA owes it to this organization, and these fans especially with the departure of Sloan and Williams.

Peanut, I don’t see the Jazz taking Walker at 6 unless it’s to trade him. But, if he’s there at 12, and they selected someone other than a PG at 6, then I think there is a chance.

I don’t see walker fitting the jazz mold, but it has been projected by several mocks that depending who is there between knight and walker that they would pick whoever is left of the two. I only see the Jazz picking a 1 or 2 guard in this draft, and i think the only way they take a big is if derrick williams falls into their lap if they get the 2nd pick in the draft. People forget when predicting the jazz taking a big, that they already have favors, millsap, jefferson and evans that can play the 4, and have Okur, jefferson and fesenko(if they sign him) that can play the 5, plus they have Ante Tomic whom they have been high on since they drafted him several years ago who is either going to come over this year or next.

I see the biggest need for the Jazz to be the 3 spot,  but they will probably take best player available.

After the 3 spot , they need a defensive minded center and a point guard for the future, so depending on who they take with the 6th pick, I see them taking the best player available that would fill their needs.

With Favors, Big Al, & Milsap the 4 spot is well staffed, with Hayward and CJ the 2 is in pretty good shape, like I said, 3 is the biggest need, hopefully Vesely, if not him, maybe Leonard or Harris (12th pick),  defensive minded center, Jonas or BB, point guard for the future, Knight or Jimmer.

They have Devon Harris who is pretty much the same style player Kemba Walker is and it didn’t work real well. He also publicly said his dream was to play in New York. Sounds like he would bolt  at first chance. There is 0% chance the Jazz draft Walker.

They do have a gap at the 3 spot, but unfortunately i think the 2 biggest prospects who they would have targeted, in Barnes and Jones withdrew from the draft. Jan Vesely is a guranteed bust, I dont know if you’ve had a chance to watch some of this kids tape, but the only thing he has going for him is that he is a above average athlete with a quick first step and good size. He however has a sketchy jump shot, and some of the poorest hands you have ever seen, the guy can rarely hold on to an entry pass, and for a guy who is 6’11 and towers over most of his competition in europe he averaged a whopping 4 rebounds per game. If they go a Small forward it would have to be leonard, but i doubt they would do that if Burks is on the board, especially considering they can shift hayward over to the 3. Then to mention CJ miles game in an argument of the 2 spot being in good shape is just riddiculous, after all-star break CJ shot an incredible 37% from the field, and barely finished abouve 40% on the season, which ranks him right near the bottom of the league in shooting.

Chevilicous: I worry too about Vesely, I’m not sure he is worth a 6th pick, some people really like him but some say he may not be able to play the 3 in the NBA. If he can’t play the 3 we don’t need or want him.

As far as CJ is concerned, it’s obvious your a CJ hater, I’m as frustrated as anyone with CJ and his inconsistency but I going to give him one more chance and if he can’t  show some consistency then we need to trade him. He is talented though and his best position is the 2 spot.  Burks may be a good choice but everything I read about him makes me see another CJ, inconsistent outside shooter, sometimes lazy on D, good athlete that can attack the rim pretty good.  Not sure we need him, he would sit on the bench behind Hayward and CJ. Leonard could be a good choice, he’s athletic, tough, good defender, and he is working hard on his shot and it sounds like he is improving.
