UNITEDweRISE31ParticipantUSA BASKETBALL MEN’S TEAM
anyone wanna try predicting who will make the team
those who have stated they’re going to play:
LBJ, Wade, D Howard, CP3, D-Will, Kobe, Melo
Most likely Bosh will join as well. Blake Griffin has also been listed as a possibilty & to replace Michael Redd is KD. Rose or Westbrook seem like two candidates for that third point guard. My question is who wud fill in at backup center; Brook Lopez, Tyson Chandler, Javale McGee(doubt it but if he does he cud benefit from learning from Howard), or even Roy Hibbert. Feel free to list other players tht i may have missed.

The White MambaParticipantAmare would be a pretty damn good back up center

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantI’d love to see Rose and Westbrook go. They’d be unstoppable vs Euro guards. I’d like their roster to look something like this:
Howard – Chandler
Stoudemire – Griffin – Melo
James – Durant – Melo
Bryant – Wade – Westbrook
Rose – Paul – Westbrook
Carmelo playing both forwards spots and Westbrook playing both guard spots.

Chilbert arenasParticipantI don’t know where Amare stands with Team USA these days after he didn’t want to play in the ’08. I hope he plays though. You think Kobe is going to want play again? I think he will because of his competitive nature but will his body allow it?

jrollParticipantPG- CP3, DWill, DRose
SG- Kobe, Wade
SF- LeBron, Durant
PF- Melo, Griffin
C- Howard, Chandler
With one spot left not sure if they should take another big like Bosh or Amare, or go with a shooter like Eric Gordan because they always seem to take that one guy that doesn’t really seem to belong but is a specialist and Gordan shot well last time.

Johnny ChillHe wanted to play in the 2010 World Championship, but couldnt get the Knicks to allow him to play.
Amare is a showman, if healthy, he’s going to want to be there.
I wouldn’t mind if Kobe took the Olymipics off, to allow some of the younger talent to play, Gordon, Westbrook, Gay, but knowing his competitive nature, he’s going to want to play also.

ghrghrParticipantIn FIBA basketball, there is no defensive 3 seconds, so your bigs should be players capable of altering shots. Howard is perfect in that spot. 4s need to be able to space the floor, so I would take a guy like Aldridge, who can also play C over Blake Griffin.
I like Johnny Chill’s team, just maybe take Griffin out and put a guard who can stand in the corner just waiting to shoot a 3 ball. James, Melo and even Durant can play the FIBA 4, so Griffin becomes a little redundant.

doubledribblerParticipantHere is my team as of right now…
Paul / Williams
Kobe / Wade /Eric Gordon
Lebron / Durant
Melo / Bosh / Love
Howard / Chandler
Reasons…PG: I’m a huge Bulls fan and Rose fan, but this team has plenty of scoring and he doesn’t give you much on defense or shooting. Westbrook can do some of the same things, but once again I don’t see him neccessary, plus this will be a really high IQ team. 3rd pg can be Lebron.
SG: If Kobe wants to play, he starts even if Wade gets most of the minutes. Plus Kobe is the teams leader. Gordon adds another shooter and defender. His game is better suited for this type of play than others.
SF: Lebron, Durant and Melo manning the 3. We’ll be fine.
PF: I pick Bosh because he understands how to be a role player and I’m really liking his midrange efficiency, even though Amare is better. I’m a big Griffin fan and could see him doing some nice things, but he’s not really neccessary. Love is more like a utility guy for the team. He can do a lot as far as rebounding an offensive versatility meaning your floor stays spaced. There are plenty of guys better than Love, but you don’t want a bunch of guys that do the exact same thing playing together.
C: I think as of right now Tyson is the best choice because of his rebounding and man defense. If he’s not playing then it would force me to consider replacing him with Amare and Bosh with Aldridge. Remember it’s not so much about just the best players as the best team you can put on the court.
