ChicagoCaseyParticipant1.) DeAndre Ayton – Totally dominated Peach Jam over the weekend. He won the matchups vs. Marvin Bagley (#1 for the 2018 class) and dominated Wendell Carter in their matchup. He also played great in the second half vs. emerging WKU commit Mitchell Robinson. He dominated all weekend and proved to be the best in the class. His jumper is elite for a big man. Reminds me of LaMarcus Aldrich/Myles Turner. Prediction: Kansas
2.) Michael Porter Jr. – Porter is really close to Ayton, their pratically neck and neck at this point. Michael Porter reminds me a lot of Paul George. Even though he’s not making a great percentage of his threes, but he shown that he have potential to be a good shooter. He have elite athleticism and skill for the modern day wing player. Great size + great skill set + positional versatility + elite athleticism = elite prospect. Prediction: Washington
3.) Wendell Carter – You can give Wendell Carter an excuse for this weekend given the fact that he just came back from a taxing trip from Spain for the U17’s. He didn’t impress in his matchup vs. Ayton, he pretty much scored on dump offs. Vs. Ayton in the post, he got bullied, got backed down several times. Worth noting that Wendell Carter outplayed Ayton the first matchup they went against each other. Prediction: Duke
4.) Mo Bamba – Didn’t watch much of him this AAU season due to his injury, but the times that I saw him he showed huge potential. He might be the best defensive prospect in some time given his lenght and natual shot blocking ability, it’s better than both Nerlens Noel and Anthony Davis at this stage. He shown a improving offensive game. He can hit an occasional jumper and he have jump hooks to his post game. Prediction: Kentucky
5.) Trevon Duval – Best point guard prospect in this class. Just came off an MVP from the Pangos All American camp, along with Michael Porter. He’s the best point guard in this class, I know some will go with Trae Young. But, as a prospect I have Duval being better. He have elite handles, great athlete, can really be creative in the paint in scoring and creating for others. No other point guard in this class can match Duval in those catagories. Prediction: Villanova
6.) Mitchell Robinson – Elite prospect. Just started playing ball and he won the matchup vs. Ayton. Put up 23 and 9 vs. him. People are comparing him to Greg Odon and the best defensive prospect since Greg Odon. It’s pretty impressive how fast he came to the scene. This was a 5 man class, now this a 6 man class. I wouldn’t be surprised if he ended up being number one in the draft in 2018. Committed: Western Kentucky
7.) Hamidou Diallo – Explosive athlete. Pretty strong shooting guard that reminds you of Russell Westbrook when he dunks and attack the rim. He’s a firey competitor that will try to dunk everything on you. He have impressive size at 6’5" 188 pounds w/ a 6’11"wingspan. His jump shot isn’t broken, but if he can make that shot regularly he can be special. Prediction: Kentucky
8.) Brandon McCoy – He’s what you want out of your PF/C, he can do everything on the court on both ends on the court. He can play in the post. shoot the mid range jumper, finish in the paint, run the floor, and is an elite offensive rebounder. On defense he’s also a great rebounder, can protect the paint, and can cover the PnR. He have phenomenal potential. Prediction: Oregon
9.) Kevin Knox – Modern day stretch 4. Pretty young for the class. Great defensive potential that can guard all 5 positions at the college and high school level. At the NBA level he will likely guard points through power forwards. He’s a quick twitch athlete, that’s only really an athlete. He made a decent percentage from threes, but if he wants to be a wing at the NBA level he will need to work on his ball handling and passing ability, pretty poor at both right now. Prediction: Duke
10.) Collin Sexton – Was down on him early because I thought he was an undersized shooting guard that only looked to score the ball. But, I watched more of him at the U17’s and he can run the point. And how the NBA is going today it does not matter if he looks to score first. He’s now getting major looks from the blue bloods, UNC just offered, Duke and Kentucky also looking at him now. Prediction: Kentucky
Honorable Mentions:
- Trae Young – Prediction: Washington
- Kris Wilks – Prediction: Indiana
- Brian Bowen – Prediction: Michigan State
- Gary Trent – Prediction: Duke
- Quade Green – Prediction: Duke

ChewyParticipantwhen someone picks 5 of the top 10 players to go to just two schools, he would be called a homer. But in today’s recruiting game, I can easily see Duke and UK doing this year after year.

Bankroll PJParticipantSomeone needs to give you a job for this @ChicagoCasey. You clearly love watching ball at all age groups and have quality analysis based off your own analysis. I can tell you don’t just watch highlights/mixtapes when evaluating guys. You actually watch the games. Grammar and word choice could use some improvement, but overall much respect you and your posts.

ncballerChicagoCasey, were you at any of the events this past weekend? I couldn’t make any of them sadly. Had buddies that kept me in the loop.
It is interesting how fluid these matchups can be. A few weeks ago Carter embarassed Ayton, then the script was flipped. The five star talent in this class is very impressive and I believe guys in the 30s will have a chance to impact college right away and finding a set top 5 is hard (although in my mind Bamba is number 1 😉 )
A couple of guys to keep an eye on:
-Nick Weatherspoon went insane this past weekend. Had a rough first game against Team Loaded NC, then the rest of the weekend averaged 28 points and 4 assists on 63% FG, 71% 3FG% and 94% FT%. Dude is shifty, strong, explosive, fast, quick and a relentless competitor. I do not like the Brandon Jennings comparison this site gave him, to me he fits more in the Demetrius Jackson/Terry Rozier mold, however I think he ends up much better than all three. Dude is cold blooded and I think Mississippi State will land him sadly. Additionally, I think he ends up a OAD lottery pick.
-Jalek Felton (I know I know a lot of you will roll your eyes because of my allegience) has been on a tear and playing with a chip on his shoulder this AAU season, since his injuries last season. My Duke buddy texted me and said that he is going to be a problem from day 1 and has been impossible to guard one on one. Put up 29 points being guarded by his potential future teammate Rechon Black. He compared him to a more athletic D’Angelo Russell. One of my other buddies said that his court vision is the best in the class, which is impressive considering he is primarily a 2 guard. I am thinking he maybe just may break our OAD drought we have had since Brandan Wright in Chapel Hill.

airenn34Participantncballer while Im hoping that Jalek is that OAD Carolina, Im very confused with his game. He has great height, nice handles, good athleticism but his play just seems very flashy and sometimes he looks disengaged. I hope im wrong but the way he goes about his business on the court just seems like he’ll end up in Roy’s doghouse. The game against Seventh at Chik fil A. Jalek tried that ridiculous of the backboard dunk and Seventh swatted the shit out of it. That’s the type of knuckleheaded play that makes Roy’s blood boil. So my question is should we be worried and why is he not a 5 star? What do you think of the Andrew Platek commit. Is he more Redick or Bobby Frasor/Wes Miller?

ncballerMost services rate Jalek as a five star and he is due for a bump up in the rankings after his performance in the past two eval periods. He led the UA circuit in scoring, led his undermatched team to 3rd place and more than held his own in a head to head matchup against Duval. The kid’s focus is much better and I think we are getting a top 15 player. Him going to a prep school for his senior year with a higher level of competition will only help prepare him for UNC. One thing to keep in mind is that commited players do not get the same attention that uncommited players do in terms of press and progress, so he may not end up getting the bump he deserves.
A lot of people question why Platek was offered in the first place. He fits the mold of a player that gives us fits. He is that guy who averages around 11 ppg then against us will hit seven 3’s and go off for 30. Jury is still out to see what exactly he is. In terms of playing style think Lee Humphrey for those great Florida teams. I don’t think Platek will really contribute until his junior or senior season, but if he is Humphrey I would take that in a heartbeat.

DukeDaSquadParticipantI love Kevin Knox and not just cause he’s predicted to go to Duke. As a rising senior I believe he is only 16 right now and he has a good skill set which he will continue to improve on. We make this comparison every year in high school but he honestly reminds me of Durant cause of his lanky frame and ability to score from all areas of the court. Maybe it’s the fact that I watched many of his tapes and videos on home team hoops but I really like this kid

ncballerI too have a man crush on his game. Highly skilled, plenty athletic, moves well and always seems to make the right play. I may get crucified for this comparison, but he reminds me of a cross between Justin Jackson and James Michael McAdoo. I believe he will have a much greater impact than both. Take Justin Jackson’s game, put it in JMM’s body (once Knox fills out) add a meaner streak and that is one hell of a player who is hard to guard. Hoping he chooses the right shade of blue, but I think he ends up 8 miles down the road sadly.

mowestenParticipantWestern Kentucky coach Rick Stansbury is known as a big time recruiter and I think the kid either committed or was seriously considering Texas A&M where Stansbury was prior to the coach coming to W. Ky.
It’s probably worth pointing out verbals are not binding, so he still could end up elsewhere. W. Ky better hope he signs in the early signing period because if he waits until spring, someone else might snatch him up.

Taylor Gang MikeParticipantYeah Jalek is really good. He has allot of tools for a big guard and is crafty. I love Porter and Young at the college level if they go to Washington together. Diallo I want him to go to Uconn, but i think he will pick Kentucky. He is really good. He is in my top 5 in the country, always competes at a high level. The package to watch is Duval and Lonnie Walker if they go to Nova. Lonnie Walker is really underrated.
