TRC1991ParticipantHere is my 2nd mock draft. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks!
1) Minnesota – Kyrie Irving, PG, Duke
Why? It is unfortunate to think that one player holds an entire organization hostage (Rubio) and in all honesty I don’t see Minnesota keeping this pick if they get it.
2) Cleveland – Derrick Williams, SF, Arizona
Why? When your starting small forward was Alonzo Gee for the latter part of the season, you know you have problems. Williams will be an instant game-changer for the Cavs.
3) Toronto – Jan Vesely, SF, Czech Republic
Why? Colangelo loves European players, I think they have a solid young core of Bayless, DeRozan, Ed Davis, and Bargnani. They are a little weak at the 3 position however.
4) Washington – Terrence Jones, SF, Kentucky
Why? Jones gives them a big-time athlete at the 3 position and can step in right away and give them production on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball.
5) Sacramento – Marcus Morris, SF, Kansas
Why? Would have loved Perry Jones at this spot for Anaheim…err…Sacramento. Which one is it? Anyways, they need help at the 3 and that is undoubtable.
6) Utah – Alec Burks, SG, Colorado
Why? Utah could go in a ton of different directions but I think SG/SF is a big need for them and if they don’t get starter-like production from Hayward next season, Burks could be quite the savior.
7) Detroit – Enes Kanter, C, Turkey
Why? Joe Dumars is creaming in his trousers that their future center fell all the way to 7. However, I think Kanter and John Kuester will clash and Detroit will have another hectic as all hell season.
8) Cleveland – Brandon Knight, PG, Kentucky
Why? This pick was between Knight and Valanciunas and it was tough but I decided to go with Knight because I think he gives them versatility and can play both backcourt spots.
9) Charlotte – Donatas Motiejunas, PF, Lithuania
Why? Gives them a young athletic big man who produces the Bobcats with a needed offensive weapon. Jonas Valanciunas was also a possible selection here.
10) Milwaukee – Jordan Hamilton, SG/SF, Texas
Why? The Bucks had the worst starters at the 3/4 spots in the entire league. They get a guy who can either take over for Salmons or give them solid minutes at the 3 spot.
11) Golden State – Jonas Valanciunas, C, Lithuania
Why? The Warriors are notorious for having pathetic post defenders. Valanciunas can give them a true post presence and will most likely battle Udoh for the starting 5 spot.
12) Utah – Kawhi Leonard, SF, SDSU
Why? The perfect fit for the jazz. Brings toughness, rebounding, athleticism, and a strong work ethic. Could be a 8-10 year starter for them.
13) Phoenix – Markieff Morris, PF, Kansas
Why? He’s no Amare but he can give the Suns is a big body in the paint who is still developing his offense and is already a terror on D.
14) Houston – Bismack Biyombo, C, Congo
Why? It’s no secret that Yao’s career is 99% over. Biyombo is riding a super high stock and I think if he works out well the Rockets will go with him at this pick.
15) Indiana – Jimmer Fredette, PG, BYU
Why? Love this pick for Indy, they get a true backup PG and a guy who can score in bunches.
16) Philadelphia – Trey Thompkins, PF, Georgia
Why? It seems as though Speights has lost his position in the rotation, Thompkins can fill that role of a big banger off the pine.
17) New York – Kemba Walker, PG, Uconn
Why? Dream pick for the Knickerbockers. Fans will leave the draft teary-eyed. For the first time in a long time, New York doesn’t butcher this pick.
18) Washington – Nolan Smith, PG, Duke
Why? Perfect back-up to Wall. Gives the Wizards some serious veteran power and leadership. Love Smith’s game.
19) Charlotte – Jordan Williams, C, Maryland
Why? The Bobcats can’t rely on Kwame Brown forever…Or can they? Just kidding. Yeah, the Bobcats could use a willing banger and skilled center with potential to start for numerous years at this level.
20) Minnesota – Tyler Honeycutt, SG, UCLA
Why? His stock will fall but the T’Wolves could use some help at the 2 spot and Honeycutt is a solid pick right here.
21) Portland – Tristan Thompson, PF, Texas
Why? For some unknown reason, he will fall and this is an absolute steal for Portland. Gives them some depth at the 4 spot.
22) Denver – Kenneth Faried, PF, Morehead State
Why? The Nuggets don’t have a glaring need so why don’t add the best player available and in this case its the raw and rebounding-machine from Kentucky’s forgotten school.
23) Houston – Chris Singleton, SF, Florida State
Why? Could immediately challenge Budinger as the Rockets starter. Could bring back the Shane Battier defense that Houston has sorely missed since shipping him to Memphis.
24) Oklahoma City – Tobias Harris, SF, Tennessee
Why? The Thunder have no backup small forwards on this team and why not grab someone at pick 24 that should have gone in the top 15?
25) Boston – Marshon Brooks, SG, Providence
Why? Finally a dependable backup guard…
26) Dallas – Chandler Parsons, SF, Florida
Why? Adds some versatility and youth to an aging group of Mavericks’ 2/3/4’s
27) New Jersey – Kyle Singler, SF, Duke
Why? The Nets have been screwed by Travis Outlaw for 1 whole season which is way too long. I don’t think Damion James is the answer. Singler may not be either but they don’t have a whole lot of options at this pick.
28) Chicago- Shelvin Mack, SG, Butler
Why? May be a little small for the 2-spot at the next level but this bulldog can absolutely stroke and has proven to win at every level of basketball he’s played at.
29) San Antonio – Jeremy Tyler, PF, USA
Why? Knowing coach Pop’s ability to develop players, Tyler will be turned into a dynamic post presence in a few years.
30) Chicago – JaJuan Johnson, PF/C, Purdue
Why? Kurt Thomas can only last so much longer. Johnson can be Noah’s backup for the future.

– Toronto needs a big man more then a small forward, and Toronto goes BPA anyway. Kanter would more then likely be the pick, unless Barnes comes out
– Sacramento is REACHING with that pick. Why add a power forward, when a point guard the main need? I think with Knight on the board, they take him because he can handle the ball and shoot.
– Charlotte’s front office (mainly Jordan) isn’t impressed with Augustine. I wouldn’t be shocked they go after Jimmer Freddete because MJ loves scorers.
-Biyombo is not a pick for Houston. They work with numbers and logic. Patrick Patterson was a numbers pick, I think they stay on that route, which is probably Faried or Singleton
– The Knicks don’t need a point guard, at least not yet. They go big man to cover up Amar’e on defense
– Boston will go big. They need someone to backup Davis, Garnett so expect a project big.

providencefriars1ParticipantI dont think Parsons will break the first round and your top 15 looks pretty jumbled, ive never seen Marcus Morris at 5 or Kanter at 7. Your burying Kemba too.

SwatLakeCityParticipantI highly Terrance Jones goes that high same with Marcus Morris. And also a few of your positions are mixed up. Jan Vesely is a PF for two reasons. One his height, and two he is not a good ball handler. Its true he can play some SF, and his 3pt shot is improving, but regardless I think because of his poor ball handling he will be a four in this league. Same with Marcus Morris, he too is a four. One thing is for sure both Jimmer and Kemba will be lottery picks.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantSome team will be fooled into taking Marcus Morris in the top 10 of the lottery..But what position does he play in the pros? he’s not a great athlete nor a great shooter…Marcus should go in the 12 to 20 range….

and i think the kings have a setup backcourt with tyreke and thornton, no need for a PG in my opinion

omphalosParticipantI agree about Boston going big, would love for them to pick up Jeremy Tyler if available. Kid’s got all the potential in the world, might give Rivers motivation to stick around beyond the Boston Three Party with Rondo, Green and Tyler as the young guys to build around.
