TomShoeParticipantSince the draft is coming up very soon, I figured we should probably have one of these threads to air out some of our less popular thoughts on draft matters in a place where we wouldn’t get negged to death just for having a dissenting opinion.
I’ll start:
1. I think the Cavs will draft Porter #1. He’s the safest choice in this draft, and they clearly have a huge, gaping hole at the SF spot, so it seems like a no-brainer. Alex Len is just too similar to Noel in my opinion.
and here’s a big one…
2. If the Cavs don’t take Noel #1 I think he’ll drop out of the top 5. While this is really bold since the Magic are leaning towards Noel at #2, I don’t think that any other team in the top 5 hase a use for him right now.
If you have any bold opinions or predictions, fire away.

steviechillzParticipantShabazz Muhammad won’t get picked in the first round
Lorenzo Brown will be a first round pick
Cavs will trade the number 1 pick
The Celtics will be involved in some draft day trades…getting KG and Paul Out of Beantown
Shane Larkin sneaks into the lottery

rabidsnowmanParticipantI mean, who needs a great defensive 7 footer with a serviceable back to the basket game? .You could draft a LOT worse in the 2nd round.

albabycakesParticipantCody Zeller is taken in the top 5.
After Noel is taken #1, the Thunder trade the #12, #29 and Reggie Jackson to the Magic for the #2 so they can draft Oladipo.
The Kings draft a basketball player and he underperforms.

ProudGrandpaParticipantMCW falls to 14 and Olynyk falls to 21…the Jazz luck out.
Bennett falls to 7, Zeller falls to 10, and Muhammad falls to 17 or 18, where a team will trade for one of the Hawks’ picks to get him.
Grant Jerrett and Colton Iverson go undrafted.
Plumlee falls out of the first round.
The Pacers will take a point guard.

Cavaliers420ParticipantThis isn’t a prediction or anything but an opinion, I love Oladipos games and I would be so happy if the Cavs traded back to get him, he is my favorite player in the draft and every time I hear his name I think of that Jay Z song, “holla hovito”.
Now this is a bold prediction, I think the Cavs will draft McLemore. Why? I have been thinking this since the start, months ago, in my opinion he is the most gifted player in this draft and given CG’s draft history he goes for the player with the best potential to become a superstar (yes I know that is no excuse to draft McLemore) anyways, that’s my “bold” prediciton.
(Not expecting any of these things to be correct, just some things I expect/ could see happening.)

rabidsnowmanParticipantDerrick Rose should not have stepped in completely out of game shape and tried to go playoff speed on a knee he wasn’t 100% comfortable with. He didn’t “quit on his team” or anything like that.
The Kings are much closer to being a playoff team than most of you realize. Demarcus Cousins on a winning team (instead of in a circus locker room) would be the most statistically productive C in the league. One good player (or even the right coach) could get them winning a lot of games.
The Clippers under Doc Rivers are no better than the Clippers under Vinny Del Negro.
Alex Len may go #1, but he’s not even the 2nd best big in this draft. (Noel, Zeller both will have better careers)
This year will go down as the worst draft in the modern era, talent-wise.
I hate Lebron, but I loved Jordan…oh wait, that’s a popular opinion.

Ben Mac or Noel fall out of top 5.
This draft will have quite a few all stars and will not go down as one of the worst drafts in history.
Charlotte makes a questionable pick at 4.
The 2nd round will produce at least 2 future starting PG’s.
Shabazz turns out to be 32.

Bennett has a better career then Porter
Caldwell-Pope has a better career then MclemoreThis years draft is very deep at PG with Burke, Mccollum, MCW, Schroeder, Larkin, Wolters all players Im confident will play rotation roles next year if they are drafted into the right situation.
Franklin, Dieing, and Mbakwe, end up better players then at least 50 of the players drafted (top ten).

2. Oladipo will be a solid role player but will never contribute offensively (12ppg as a starter).

4. Noel will have a career plagued with injuries and will never reach his potential.

hylandptParticipantMagic should take Burke to lead the young pack of Harris, Harkless and Vucevic back into another lottery season and tank for Wiggins.
I can see Burke averaging over 8 assist 3-4 years from now.
Charlotte should do the same in tanking for Wiggins next season and draft the best big man possible now (Len or Noel) Walker/Wiggins/MKG/Biyombo/Len would be great for Charlotte.
Schroeder and Larkin are extremely underrated.
MCW won’t average double digits ever in his NBA career.
Shabazz Muhmmad will have a great NBA career and is a top 5 talent in this draft. He won’t have a hard time adjusting to the NBA.
Steve Adams will be a major bust.
Ledo, Adetokoubo and Karasev will become NBA starters in 4 years.
The 2nd round is underrated. Green, Wolters, Whitney, Canaan, Abrines, Carmichael, Kabongo, Goodwin, Nedovic, Mbawke and even a guy like DJ Stephens will play some bench role on a NBA team.

B-ball fanParticipantAlex Len, Michael Carter-Williams, and Shabazz Muhammad will be a complete busts. If Len goes #1, he will be viewed as a Kwame Brown-esque bust (except without the Jordan connection).
Shane Larkin will be the second best pg taken in the draft, after Trey Burke.
Otto Porter, Cody Zeller, and Nerlens Noel will be the top three players taken in the draft.
Victor Oladipo will have his shooting numbers fall back down to earth, but will still be the best SG taken in the draft.
Gorgui Dieng will be the best center in the draft after Noel, assuming Zeller becomes a pf.
Even after the fact, this will be seen as one of the weaker drafts in years.

The QParticipantLedo in the top 20.
MCW drops like a rock, this years PJ3 (although probably not THAT far).
I’ll say Gobert in the lottery, probably to Dallas.
I’ll say MacLemore falls to Detroit (he sounds to be slipping just a bit and there’s not a great fit for him after Phoenix). Call it the Barnes/Lamb of this year’s draft (who both laughably went behind Waiters).
