OhCanada-ParticipantDid anybody else know the Raptors signed Jason Thompson. I’m very excited by this. Thompson got lost in the depth charts in GSW but I’ve always though of him as a guy that sacrifices alot for the better of his team.
I think he has a lot to offer the Raptors and could even outdue Scola for the starting gig at PF. Thompson also reportedly has an outside shot he never has been able to showcase.

CavFanPRParticipantVery good move by the Raptors. I always thought he had a ton of potential as a power forward but was never able to shine with the disfunctional Sacramento Kings organization. Hopefully, this is a fresh start for him. For the first time in his career, he has the opportunity to play significant minutes for a team that could not only make the playoffs, but make a deep playoff push as well. Thompson has never been in the playoffs in his 8 years inthe NBA.
I could definetly see him beating out Scola and Patterson for the starting role before the playoffs start. One things for certain, he’ll get a ton of minutes there.

Jr. ROXASParticipantWhat? Actually I think the opposite is going to happen lol. This signing is more of a locker room prescence type of signing, like what GSW did with Varejao. No way is he getting the minutes of Scola and Patterson, who have developed an incredible chemistry already with the starters and the bench respectively. Scola and Pat can both hit the three, which Casey loves in his offense and is something that Thompson can’t do.
And I’m sorry, I don’t know where you’re coming from when saying he had "a ton of potential". Even coming out as a senior out of college he really wasn’t that player you thought as someone with potential, since he isn’t that athletic, and is slow-footed. Also, his calling card is his mid-range game but even that he can’t hit consistently. His best asset right now is his post D.
And lastly, you really believe this will be the first time in his career he will e getting significant minutes? Are we watching the same player?? lol. I actually think he was lucky he got to SacTown since he didn’t have much competition for minutes as a PF. He averaged 27 minutes in his career in SacTown, which is a WHOLE lot for a player of his caliber. He’s at best a 15 minute rotational big man.
I like Thompson a lot, he provides a big body and a veteran prescence, but you maybe be overrating him a tad bit too much now. There’s now way he is getting minutes in TO with A) Scola, Patterson and Biyombo there and B) when Carrol returns since Casey likes him a stretch 4 in offense.

OhCanada-ParticipantPatterson will always come off the bench during his tenure with Toronto it seems. Casey likes to use him that way.
Scola has not been playing well as of late although he is still serving his purpose by stretching the floor and making smart basketball plays offensively he doesn’t rebound well and is a liability defensively.
With that being said he has a good chemistry with the team. Although if the Raptors go on a mini losing skid before the playoffs which is more likely than not Thompson could get a nod at PF to mix things up replacing Scola. Its not too farfetched of an idea. Also injuries happen everyday in the NBA.

nath09ParticipantIs exactly the type of player the 76ers should be looking at to show some maturity around the young guys. He also fits in well witheir style of play: he plats for cheap.

mamadouParticipantLol.
Thompson is the biggest loser in the nba, close race with Wes Johnson though, he still started 400+ games for the kings, they never learned the lesson…he was lucky.
Terrible defender, foul prone, inconsistant, tweener in a bad way, perfect role model.
He started in the nba at 23yo, the potential, the upside wasn’t there, he was just nba ready, playing in a terrible team.
Should have been a 5-5, 6-6 back up his whole career.

OhCanada-ParticipantAnd in just his third game Jason Thompson starts at PF. This is after Scola dropped 21-points in 20-minutes. Seems the Raptors are fed up with the obvious lack of rebounding and defense from the Luis/Jonas frontcourt.

OhCanada-Participant1st shift on his 1st start lasted 9-minutes and was good for 5-points, 3-rebounds (1-offensive), 1-assist, 1-steal, 1-block, 2/2FG (1-3pm) 0-FTA, 0-turnovers, 0-fouls. That’s dam near perfection.
He looks about his business and with an expiring contract this is his shot to keep his career going. After spending time on the bench in GSW and practicing with those guys he seems to have had an itch for the court. Passing the eyetest so far.

CynthiaParticipantI have another under the radar signing that no one knew about. As you all know when the Thunder acquired Randy Foye (useless chucker as I expected 30% FG since joining OKC) they opened a roster slot, instead of going after someone like Ray Allen or anyone that can actually shoot who do they get? Nazr Mohammed.
Well played OKC, with a combined shooting percentage of 34% (Waiters & Foye) and Nazr banging down low in practice a championship is innevitable.
On a serious note, Presti; why do you continously make the team worse? At this point it’s almost like you’re doing it on purpose, did the Spurs pay you a ton of money to sabotage OKC and come back to them?

username_takenParticipantMuch better option than Anthony Bennett, Thompson can provide toughness at the 4 spot when Scola lacks it.
