With today’s win vs Duke UNC has now become the first team to beat all four teams ranked in the AP preseason top 4.

Big win for UNC. They have to be one of the most confusing teams i’ve ever seen with wins over Duke, MSU, Lousiville and Kentucky but losses against UAB, Miami and Wake Forest.

They are gellin right now, The addition of Leslie Mcdonald through off there chemistry a tad bit. New roles had to be established as Britt had to learn to become effective off the bench, Meeks was instered in the lineup, Joel James role was minimized, and Hicks moved to back up SF instead of PF.  Roy has been masterful in his tinkering.There a legit top ten team no matter their current ranking , if Leslie Mcdonald plays similarly to the way he played against Dook, they are a title contender.

-with PJ Hairston, this team would have been the best in the country.

 The most stunning statistic about UNC is that they are on pace to be the worst free throw shooting time IN THE HISTORY OF UNC BASKETBALL.  I think Dick Vitale said in their 7 losses they were 77-160 from the charity stripe.  That is historically abysmal, especially for a program with the history of North Carolina.  If they shoot at least 70 percent from the free throw line, they might win 3 of those 7 games and be a top ten team right now.  Everybody was quicl to criticoze Roy when they were 1-4 in the ACC, including me.  I thought time had passed Roy by and he was too stubborn to change his coaching ways.  This is not his most talented team by far.  He has also missed out on some top recruits recently and losing Bullock to the NBA and Hairston obvously hurt big-time.  Roy kept this team together and never gave up.  Relegating Joel James to the bench was a great move because he is just not ready to be a contributor right now.  This is one of Roy’s best coaching jobs since the 05-06 season.
