 Davis is unstoppable on lob passes in college. Those tend to be a lot better defended in the NBA, real offensive skills matter a lot more when it comes to production translating to the NBA. Is Brad Beal matched up against MKG?

 Steven, Future Scout is saying that he still gets his without getting touches or plays called for him. He doesn’t need many touches to get good production which makes him that much more valuable.

 haha not at all. im just saying he hasnt shown any offensive skills… never looks to make a move, doesnt really look to shoot, all he does is recieve lobs… hes not going to get that in the NBA unless hes the next Dwight Howard which i highly doubt. im not saying hes bad or anything, its just that id like to see more then just lobs… maybe start a fast break like i hear from so many people he can, or take a jump shot… thats all..

 This is the first time i have actually watched an entire Florida game this year, but I had heard a lot about Young being this dominant force. He looks like a physical man-child but he definitely did not impress me a great deal. With Jones out for most of the first half he should have done a little more it seems.

 There are more offensive skills than isolation scoring ability.  Davis moves well without the ball, runs the floor, finishes at the rim, and is an outstanding offensive rebounder.  He is also very unselfish and plays within himself.  Austin Rivers has the ability to create his own shot, but he is not as good a prospect for a teams offense as Davis is because Davis could fit in and be effective offensively for any team.  Davis also has the touch and natural ability to develop as a scorer down the road, but it is refreshing to see a top college prospect who is productive while still doing all the little things out there on the court.

Plus, Davis’ defense is what sets him apart as a prospect.  He rotates fast, has superb timing and length blocking shots, and looks like a potential elite pick and roll defender in the NBA.  He could do to get stronger and work on boxing out more consistently, but he will immediately be an excellent defender in the NBA.

Yes Davis is raw but you can see that he has the potential to be a go to guy down the road. The thing that is liked by scouts is that you don’t have to run plays for him in order for him to score(same with Gillie). Also he’s a better offensive player then he shows but UK doesn’t need him to create his offense they just need him to crash and catch alleys. He will need to get stronger for the pro’s of course but thats the case with 99 percent of bigs coming from college to the NBA. He doesn’t need to be much bigger because you can see he shoul dbe at least the defender K.G was when he got to the NBA as a skinny kid.

 

I think this is the best of all the Cal’s UK team not just because of the talent but because of how unlselfish the team is and mostly because these boy’s get down and play hard defense very game for just about the whole game. i can’t say that about all the past UK teams. Also unlike any other team in college for awhile they can pretty much switch on any screen which really hurt’s teams that can shoot especially since all of them are pretty long.

 

I really love how Teague is starting to slow down and play within his self, he’s not rushing like he was earlier in the year and his picking his spots

 okay with all this talk about how great teague is when he is not rushing i have something to point out. he needs to learn how to rush just enough while still cutting down heavy on TOs like he has been. i like the aggressiveness he had when he first come out, while it wasn’t efficient because of the sloppiness and his particular bad penetration selections  i don’t think he will go 2/3 from downtown everygame.

 I agree Future_Scout…….Teague has to be aggressive all the time,but learn how to control it,him being aggressive will have him at his best,he is too athletic at the guard spot to not dominate,even if he’s not scoring, he needs to attack,attack,attack.

mhmm, i have not seen much kickoff passes after penetrations, or hand offs to his bigs. he got 10 assist tonight mainly because uk went wild from downtown

 Yea, me either that’s why he needs another year to learn the PG spot better, he attacks, but sometimes he takes an extra dribble or runs into brickwalls.

If he just penetrated and kicked and took open shots, and knew when to lay the ball up, he’d still be in talks by EVERYONE as a lotto pick.

But right now he still is learning how to be a true PG,which many scouts said he was one and was a FAR better lead guard than his brother(Jeff Teague), those scouts should lose a paycheck for those comments,Teague is a SCORING point.

Patric Young is built like a tank and when he got the ball in the post against Anthony Davis Davis held his ground. He’s also face the same type of bullying big men against Tennessee and Davis dominated there. As far as the critics of his offense are concerned offense is not the best aspect of his game no doubt but he can shoot it a little bit. Also, his free throw percentage ain’t bad. Youngs a nice lil prospect. Hes definitely improved his offesnive game from last year and hes a nice athletic defender. If he comes back he could be like a poor mans Thomas Robinson..
