UNCbasketballbumParticipantWhen Anthony Bennett decided not to commit to UK, Kentucky fans took to twitter. Pretty harsh stuff:
“you made the worst decision life your are clearly mentaly ill going to a sh—- team hopefully you play Uk you need an A–whooping,” some clown named
@Craig37466188 wrote.“So you chose money over the cleaner program. Have fun riding the bench at UK. You were average in HS and will be average at UK,” wrote
@DaSaffell.“Amile Jefferson will be better at UK then you would. At UK we like championships and unselfishness. Something you won’t have,” wrote
@Ademetree1281.Thoughts?

mikeyvthedonParticipantJust a group of some schools fans who mix harassment with die hard support of their team. This is what I wrote about it earlier.

Definitely do not think UK is the first school to do this, but these fans certainly reflect poorly on a school with a pretty fantastic tradition and fan base. Too bad that this happens and I feel bad that Anthony Bennett was met with this reaction. Just do not think it is the first time or that UK is the only fan base that would do something like this. Just see little reason to have this type of attitude towards a recruit.

ChrisCrossParticipantI mean some of UK fans are die hard to the core and take it too far, but UK fans have always been doing this, so have other die hard fans.

TomShoeParticipantHe chose not to go to UK to actually be CHALLENGED for once.
You see, life in Big Blue goes in easy steps:
1. Commit to Kentucky after receiving benefits(?) from Calipari.
2. Join up with Nerlens "Unibrow 2.0" Noel and the 5 or 6 other 5-star recruits and blitz through the entire regular season while receiving raves on how everybody is so talented and deserve to be top 5 picks.
3. Tests? Who needs ’em! Just get some random nerd (like me) to do all your tests for you!
4. Blitz through the postseason, winning the SEC championship.
5. Either win the NCAA championship or make the Final Four, rapidly over-inflating your draft stock.
6. Freshman year over? No problem! Declare for the draft! Money awaits! Get selected top 5 and get paid.
7. Don’t worry about Calipari, he’ll just round up his next pack and win again and again.

mattmancalcagnoParticipantidk why everyone is bashing on coach cal, he didn’t make the rules and he is winning within them. Now you see schools taking a page out of his one and done book ie (UCLA & Duke). Times have changed in college basketball, the recipe for a championship is to recruit the best freshman.

scott3210ParticipantI was raised in Lexington and am a UK fan. It really disturbs me to see that stuff being written to a kid. These are the same irrational fans that ran Tubby out of town, even though Tubby was an excellent coach. I am not saying I would rather had Tubby over Calipari, but I did not want to see Tubby leave like he had to. Additionally, I don’t want a kid playing for Kentucky basketball unless he absolutely loves it here. Sometimes different colleges, such as smaller schools, are better fits for certain athletes.

Chilbert arenasParticipantHave you seen Anthony Bennett? It’s easy to hid behind a keyboard, no one would ever say things like that to his face

JordanC20Participantits not only UK fans that do this

scbe2223ParticipantThe backlash was far worse when Shabazz went to UCLA. Some UK fans go way overboard, but often times other schools join in on this sort of thing posing as UK fans. We are a very proud program, and some people take that way too far.

DunksNJordans23ParticipantI will admit I’m a UK fan but I really didn’t see it as a big deal. Bennett is an awesome player and all but I like to see some competition. The games that I enjoyed watching the most besides the national championship game were the two games they lost against IU and Vandy.

Ghost01ParticipantI cant wait until UK is nothing but mediocre this year…

JNixonParticipant" Additionally, I don’t want a kid playing for Kentucky basketball unless he absolutely loves it here."
Exactly how it should be, well-said. These people who are just diehard fans with basically too much school pride, and have never been in a situation where they had to choose the best fit for them dont understand that. It’s selfish and it really just makes you look bad when you act like these people were. Especially behind a computer screen

WizardofOzParticipantUK fans are the worst. They attack every player that doesn’t commit to their school.

HaleParticipantDefine mediocre, because they will still likely be at least a sweet 16 team.
