I’m watching the UCONN vs Marquette game right now ,and now I understand why UCONN isnt a ranked team……

This team doesnt hustle at all and gives almst half of Marquettes point by just running up the court faster or getting offensive rebounds by there guards.

UCONNs offense is like the Heat in the 4th quater, they just run Iso’s ,they dont make the other teams defense work at all ,UCONN has a huge size advantage and doesnt use it all.Marquettes biggest guy on the court is 6’7 while Drummond is one of the biggest college basketball players in the country and I have only seen him get the ball in post one time.I kind of feel bad for Drummond because he really doesnt get his chance to show what he gots on the offensive end.

napier’s passing ablity is impressive! i also think with the fastest big man out there, they should push the tempo a little to prevent all the isos

Is not a huge issue. The issue I have with Napier is that he maybe dribbles the ball into the floor harder than any PG I have seen all year (meaning, he over dribbles). Maybe it is their offense, but it is not working. I have little to no idea why they don’t at least attempt to play inside-out basketball against a team without near the size of their own. If Drummond or Oriakhi get doubled or turn it over, than maybe move away from it, but try it out. Just really frustrating watching this team not use everything it can. The effort level is poor, but the execution is equally disappointing.

they are really doing nothing..just dribbling and passing each other 10feet before 3point line..

yes Andre might not have Davis motor and willingness..but this kid also battles and tries to do something he is really way better than 10ppg scorer..

even if UK is way deeper team i bet Andre would be much better there

UConn should really look to feed Oriakhi and Drummond more. Marquette struggles against bigger frontlines due to their lack of size.

Reminds of the way the Miami Heat played at times in 2010-11. Too much iso, not enough player movement and playing an offense that does not best suit their personnel. They finally seem to be playing with a little sense of urgency, though that Roscoe Smith ticky tack offensive foul killed a possible huge sequence. Still, this team obviously does not the talent of the Heat, but I truly believe that they have much more to offer than what they have shown this season. With the game now at 48-44 Marquette thanks to a Lamb triple and a big Oriakhi, lets see what the Huskies do. I guarantee they will have to keep bringing it, because DJO, Jae Crowder and Marquette are not going to quit.

I have been on the Crowder bandwagon since the first time I saw him play last year. I know a few of you have agreed with me about him but I dont care if you are a tweener or are too small or whatever,  Crowder plays with unbelievable heart and will be in the NBA next year.

i was thinking about it, and the commentator said… "if your drummond grab it, and dunk it", on that play he batted the ball like 4 times.

Napier is gonna be a Lindsey Hunter-esque player in the league. He is a pesky defender.

This was another game where UCONN fell apart after staying pretty close. Did the same against Syracuse. As talented as I believe Shabazz Napier and Ryan Boatright are, playing those two together kills you. Drummond obviously needs to be more aggressive and create positioning for himself on offense (though I still feel they looked off of him on a few decent posts).

That 4 point play (well, Jae Crowder missed the free throw) was a brilliantly designed play, but it was Oriakhi’s fault. He needed to step up and was flat out not paying attention. Drummond had a bad game though, he struggled keeping up with Crowder. On offense, he was just rarely put in position to do much. They ran no high pick and rolls with him, their offense is just stagnant. I still have faith in Drummond to put it together, his size and athleticism are incredibly elite, but he definitely has a lot to work on.

Also, they were struggling WITH Calhoun. He would more than likely make a difference and whip some @ss when needed (which I do not think Blaney does enough when a guy like Boatright gets that STUPID technical), but they were having the same issues with Calhoun at the helm. This is just a different team than last year and they have not at all found an identity. The sad thing is, they have the players to be a much better team than they have been, but they seem to lack effort and motivation. At every position.
