If he declares, he is a late first round pick.

The PG position is stacked, so he wouldn’t get love from a team just outside the lottery like he could a few years ago.

and yet isaiah taylor’s a top 20 pick? what a joke.

if he declares, tyus would be the best floor general in this draft.

I completely agree. I’m really not sure what I could be missing with him because everything I’ve seen of him indicates that he should at least be a lottery pick.

Is it just that the pg position has too much depth to spend a lottery pick on?

Not sure why people are so down on him as an NBA prospect? I would take him over Rozier and Taylor. He’s a better playmaker and has a better feel for the game than Rozier IMO and is a much better shooter than Taylor. On top of that he’s clutch and comes up biggest on the biggest stage. I’m surprised people are still saying he’d be a late first if he comes out. I could see him going off in the tourney and shooting up draft boards into the lottery, but if he doesn’t finish the season strong I think he’ll stay another year.

I have seen him play at every home game in person this year and I don’t see him being a lottery pick or a consistent starter in the league for the first ~3 years or so.

He has elite level court vision and passing skills, controls the tempo really well, has a decent enough jumpshot and steps up in the big games. However, he also has sub-par athleticism, struggles to contain penetration by an average Division 1 guard, and is unable to finish over strength and length. A recent article on ESPN published stats that basically says he has the worst shooting percentage around the rim among the top 10 or so college point guards this year. Some people say he’s the next Mike Conley, but I just see him as a poor man’s DJ Augustin.

He was finishing pretty strong at the hoop multiple times last night…against NBA prospects.

I like Tyus but to play devil’s advocate on this, UNC has no legit NBA prospects on their roster right now. They simply don’t, so to say he was finishing over NBA guys is just not true. I will say, he looks like a lottery pick to me when he’s aggressive. He just has a poise about him and I get that we live in a day and age where every point guard needs to be super athletic…none of em can stop the other so what difference does it make? At worst, I see Jones as a really solid backup point guard and runs a very effective show off the bench.

Fair enough @4th quarter…I’m a big UNC fan, so it pains me to say but when I watch them play, I don’t see any good NBA players. Sure they might have guys get drafted, but when I say NBA prospects, I guess I think of guys that could do something. Johnson could be a 1st round guy, but he just looks the part of a nice college player who won’t be a big time NBA guy.
