when given over 30 minutes in a game this year tyrus has been dominating… i think its time to give him the reigns and let him break out…but larry and michael still seem to disagree…

i think later this year he will.. thoughts?

He did that ocasionally with the Bulls and followed it up with a 4 point 5 rebound 2 block performance.  He’ll fool you when his 15 footer is falling, but I don’t know if it’s a maturity thing or what, but he isn’t a dominant NBA player.  He’s a good role player who can step up with a game like that every now and again, but since he’s young has great length and has pogo sticks for legs , IMO, people make him out for more than what he is as a pro player.

his per minute averages this year are

i would completely agree with you joe, but ive seen around 8 bobcats games this year and his shot selection is pretty good… which is what i thought his major problem was… a good coach is exactly what he needed and i think he got that.. he needs to stay with this team and develop his game more.. larry brown is a great coach…

In my opinion this is his time to shine. He’s got a nice fat contract, he’s going to have plenty of opportunities playing on the Bobcats and he has what is in my opinion the best coach in basketball coaching him. If he’s going to do something it needs to be now. I think consistency has always hurt him though. Like Joe Wolf said, he gives you a great game one night and the next nothing. I haven’t gotten to watch any of his games with Charlotte though. I know shot selection was always a huge issue and he really wasn’t as aggressive going to the basket as he should have been with his type of athleticism.

but he needs more minutes so he can improve with the players around him. He has shown a lot of good things when given the chance. He is not a star player. If given the minutes and he shows consistency he could get close though.

Bobcats really need a star player to take some of the pressure off these solid players who make up the rest of the team. They have all the right pieces to be great, now they just need the star. Maybe they’ll win the lottery and end up with Barnes, could be a nice story for the UNC player to be drafted to Charlotte.

Thomas when he was drafted by Chicago had Big Ben and P.J Brown to help mentor him with the hope that when P.J’s contract expired Thomas would be ready to take over as a starting PF. 4 years down the line he is still developing and is currently probably best used as a high energy bench player. Hopefully Coach Brown will see enough development to give Tyrus more minutes as he is surely worth more than 21.4mpg and the size of his contract would certainly merit this. With Wallace and Jackson playing such heavy mibutes surely Tyrus could take a bit of their slack as Jackson is now 32 years old so excessive minutes will not be good for his long term durability.
