The Bulls are talking to the Knicks about trading Thomas. I dont know any details about it but I’ll try to find more out. My question is who should the Bulls try to get for him and How will he fit in with the Knicks.

Will give an offensive presence at the pf spot for Chicago which is in desperate need of a scorer. While Tyrus Thomas would play sort of an Amare Role on the Knicks team. Would be a good chance for him

the bulls get the better end of that deal..thomas is a ok player but i dont see him being as good as harrington now or in the future. and i dont like a front court of him and david lee at all.

i agree completely, two frontcourt players both 6’9” does not = success against big teams in the post (boston, LA, dallas, orlando)..the knicks should focus more on rehabbing eddy curry and not trading for a lanky combo forward with bad offensive skills

i think its a good deal for both teams. the bulls officially become players in the 2010 market like we knew they could if they passed on a big deal for tyrus thomas. knicks get his rights and he becomes a shawn marion player on the offense. Bulls can go after Wade, Johnson, Amare, Bosh, and Boozer and theyll definitely end up with one of them. Win Win imo

Yes, Harrington’s contract expires after this season. The Bulls will be players in 2010 free-agency regardless. I’m 50-50 on this trade. I like the trade for the Bulls, but I’m not sure about it for the Knicks. I think Thomas could flourish with the Knicks, but I’m just not sure.

I’m not surprised that Portland is looking to trade Miller lol. It hasn’t worked out on or off the court. I posted that Portland would look to trade him Dec. 15, which is when he’s first available to be traded. Bad move by Kevin Pritchard and like I said before the start of the season… He’s overrated as a GM. He’s great when it comes to scouting and drafting, but he overvalues young players and hasn’t shown he knows what it takes to push his team over the hump.

I also posted that Portland should trade him for an athletic small forward who could help Roy with ball handling, play D and shoot the corner three. Either that or a tough backup power forward who can rebound, play D and score around the rim… A player who’s the opposite of Lamarcus Aldridge. They really like Dante Cunnigham and Juwan Howard has done a good job, so I think they’ll go with a small forward.

Make It Happen! Harrington is the Knicks best overall scorer, he can post, hit 3s, play the 3 and the 4, solid player for a team to have, especially Chicago who could use a good scorer

I would love that trade for Chicago, Gibson is a solid player, but in my opinion not the caliber of pf to start on a playoff team. He could provide them with more of an offensive front court presence, and Gibson could be a defensive spark of the bench. Thomas has some potential too, he is a gazelle, but his time is up with Chicago, give him a chance somewhere else and bring in Harrington to help the Bulls make a run, and elivate their team, and hopefully a playoff run this year to prep them for a big FA this summer.

Terrible trade for the Knicks. Walsh should be looking to move either Curry’s or Jeffries’s contract to free up space for 2 premiere free agents. While Thomas would add things that are severely lacking from the team as currently constitutued, another raw young player is not what the Knicks need. Thomas + Chandler + Hill + Douglas + Gallinari = ugly games. The knicks need a true big and a true play maker, and trading production for potential for one year isn’t smart. Let someone else deal with his flaws as well as his potential.

Bottom line is Thomas doesn’t make the Knicks markedly better this year, and would negatively affect their free agency of 2010. The Knicks could sign someone better than Thomas in 2010 with the cap space. Therefore its not really in the Knicks best interest.

this is a win win situation for the knicks, it doesn’t effect their cap space at all for the summer even if they resign tyrus, they can get another player ie. joe johnson, boozer, amare

they pretty much would get a free audition of a young player, who would really work in my opinion in their system, and he won’t keep getting jerked in and out of the lineup like in chicago

and dantoni isn’t too fond of harrington and david lee probably won’t be back with the knicks anyway, i say they get amare and have amare and marion 2(thomas)with gallo improving, and a solid nucleus of douglas, chandler and hill, they could be okay,also depending on how they land in the lottery,they could get a good player in this years draft.

Chicago gets a player who can score in the post and space the floor in the fast break, while the Knicks get a younger player who doesn’t need the ball as much, and is more athletic, which they need more than another shooter.

Nothing but of bunch of Tyrus haters in this thread.  He has skills & was playing well until he got hurt.  You all are really underrating the impact Tyrus has on games.  

This season:  The Bulls are 2-2 with Thomas.  They are 5-7 without him.

Like I’ve been saying- Taj Gibson is no Tyrus Thomas, simple as that. 

Dumb move for the Bulls.   Smart move for the Knicks.

I couldn’t help but laugh at that. That’s not much of a difference at all. And it’s seriously not going to make anyone say, “Man, that Tyrus Thomas really does make the Bulls better.” But maybe it’s just me. I don’t think Thomas is that good either, he’s probably not a starter but he’s definitely a good 2nd teamer.

Al Harrington gives the Bulls some scoring punch, which they pretty much need. Thomas could have an impact though with the Knicks because of their system, and he provides them with some defense, which they need. It could work out, but don’t expect Tyrus Thomas to come to the Knicks and be a savior lol.

Yes, I realize Tyrus can’t save the Knicks by himself.   But thinking about the future I would much rather have Tyrus Thomas on my team than Al Harrington.  I think LeBron would feel the same way.

Stats don’t show how many shots Tyrus alters every game either.  Having that kind of long athlete with that kind of quick leaping ability under the basket is an asset.  Plus for goodness sake he is only 23 Years Old.

That’s one game, and it was 2-2. That’s a very misleading stat anyway. 4 games compared to 12 games is a very big difference. I could understand if their were more games, that was a stat that was not even worth mentioning.

Tyrus Thomas does alot of the same things that plenty of big men do. I keep saying it, just because your a better athlete than another player, doesn’t mean you have a high upside. Thomas hasn’t gotten that much better at all since he got into the league, his upside doesn’t seem to be more than average.

Im sure Lebron would want Thomas more than Harrington, because he knows that Harrington would take his shots. Thomas isn’t a big threat to score and would be OK with being a 4th or 5th option. It’s not because Thomas is the better player of the 2, it’s because he doesn’t want to have to share shots with someone who takes as many shots as Harrington.

Tyrus was pretty clutch last year in the playoffs against Boston. Without him the Bulls would’ve gotten beat down. 

He would be the best defender New York would have on their whole team.  This is a no brainer guys.  Knicks need defense. 

Most Knick fans would do backflips if this deal went through.  Getting rid of Al Harrington would be a blessing. 

The way I see it the Knicks have nothing to lose.

I really wish this trade was for DLee. I think he would fit better than Al. He also wouldnt mess up their chemistry as bad because he wouldnt demand lots of bad shots.

Have u guys been following Harrington & Thomas careers? They’re both overrated and underachievers..The reason Harrington has moved around so much is becuz at 6’9 he’s a poor rebounder..As for Thomas he’s a good energy off the bench but not someone u can depend on every nite….
