MattissickParticipantSo we picked Evans. Do you guys see him starting at point guard? And how many minutes do you think he’ll play? I didn’t imagine him as an NBA point but they aren’t going to replace Martin with him so it must be at the 1 that they plan to play him. I predict he plays mostly point and plays 35 mins per game averaging 17 ppg 4 rebounds and 5 assists shooting a bad % and averaging a lot of turnovers. What do you guys think?

dmo21Participanti think he might play some pg and some sg, just to try to see what he is better at, less pressure on him because he will just be a back up for two positions because they have sergio at point guard now

gedrosolanParticipantyeah, my biggest question is if he is starting right away. because if he is, i think he is a definite rookie of the year candidate. and who will be the backup to evans, sergio or beno?

boffacheeriosParticipantfrom all indications i’ve heard, he will start at point guard from day 1. I just listened to an interview with paul westphal and he says he has no problem giving big minutes to young players, and also that he says tyreke is a 1 because the only thing that matters in his offense is that you can defend point guards. He seemed very confident evans could.

MattissickParticipantNice I have been meaning to listen to his interviews but I haven’t yet. So he seems confident that Evans play play big minutes, and as Beno and Sergio are both flops, it seems likely that a good chunk of his minutes could be at point guard and he could also get the few backup minutes behind Martin. Sergio isn’t really a flop but he’s really nothing special.

thekingParticipantTyreke Evans is for sure a point guard. He is great at bring the ball up the court and pushing the ball in transition. Where he struggles the most is as a shooter. He is a tall point guard, but he is still a great ball handler. One problem with him at the point is setting up his team mates. He is more of a scorer than a passer, but he is such a great penatrator that you want to surround him with shooters not passers. He will not be a great passer, but he will be good at breaking down the defense and he will get a lot of steals has a defender and a lot of dunks off the steals. He will start a lot of fast breaks.

MattissickParticipantI hope so. How many minutes do you guys think he will play per game next season?
